Speedy B Damier Ebene Quality Issues?

With the hardware, you can have all the coated brass hardware replaced (D rings, square rings, bolts, zip pullers) at a cost but as they are coated, it will tarnish eventually. This does not mean they will replace the zipper, top handles and straps with new ones though. As my main concern was the canvas itself which can't be repaired, there was no point in getting all brass hardware replaced.
Hopefully my Speedy B will continue to hold up for many more years to come. I love this bag so much that when it gives up on me, I might actually consider getting the same bag in the future. : D
Tarnishing has nothing to do with the fact that the hardware is or isn't coated.

I HAVE A SPEEDY MONO FROM 2010 BUT I CAN'T REMEMBER IF ITS THE SAME. I ALMOST FEEL THAT LOOKS BETTER THAN THIS ONE AND ITS 7 YEARS OLD.

I'll try that and see what happens. Not yelling :doh: I use all capitals at work to make notes. I just forgot to change it back, I get so used to looking at capitals that i forget its considered yelling. Sorry lol

Hahahha, I'm just teasing :biggrin: yeah for some reason the newer locks seem to tarnish very fast, there are several threads discussing this, some people clean them with ketchup, don't ask me why but it works.
And I believe you that your older Speedy may look better than the newer one, I've noticed the same :)

LOL! I thought I was crazy, I mean she's old but her hardwear still looks new!. if it wasn't for her patina you'd never know
 
Ohhhh thats interesting. I thought basically because it's not the same brass material as the padlock that it's the reason why the hardware coating is coming off.

I watched a 5yr update video on the Speedy B a couple of days ago. There were parts on the gold lock, where the shiny gold coating had peeled away in certain areas. Yet some parts of the lock were still shiny. But, there was no silver. Therefore, I'm not sure why they don't use the same ghw for all of their items, instead of using silver hw, and polishing it gold, and when the gold wears off...it shows the silver hardware. LOL

These higher-end brands...majority of them are cutting a lot of corners these day, but really at the price points, it's a shame, IMHO. I have gold costume jewelry, that I did not spend a ton on; they still look new to this day, and some are over 5 yrs old.lol No rant...just saying.

Overall, I think your Speedy B still looks good, for the most part, and if it was your everyday bag. It may last a long time...but the corners idk. You may want to just rotate as often as possible.
I like rotating everything, which helps to maintain the longevity of things (i.e., shoes, bags, etc.)
 
I bought a speedy B 30 DE from LV website late last year. When I first got it, I didn't check it carefully. And I didn't carry it very much (maybe 3 times). However, yesterday I found there is a circle on one of the handles. It's clearly not caused by wear. I guess this is a lint under the coating of the leather. Do you think this is a defect? Any suggestion if I need to carry it to the LV store for an exchange? Thank you!

Not sure if this will help anybody but here is what my Speedy B 30 looks like after many years of use. Not sure about the longevity of the bag as the red is peeking through the rubbed off checkers on the canvas already.View attachment 3762797 View attachment 3762799 View attachment 3762796

Thanks for sharing. I am quite alarmed at seeing the wear of the canvas at the corner. I have 1 DE bucket and 1 mono popincote both of which are minimally 10 years old if not 15. HW is brass and looked old when I recently took them out again (haven't worn them for a long time), but after polishing, the tarnish is all gone though there are scratches due to wear and tear. That is perfectly alright. There is definitely no peeling of gold coating revealing a silver base. There is totally canvas cracks on both the bags and the canvas has no worn corners. I am really interested in buying a speedy B but looking at the quality really makes me concern.

Anyone with recent purchases, 2016/2017, has any quality issues or feedback to share? TIA
 
Received my online order today on a speedy 30 b DE. Noticed this little discoloration dot. Should i gonto a store and ask for an exchange?

It took forever. Lol. They accepted my 'exchange' and said they will ship it back for me (since it is an online order), took my receipt and said they will call me once shipped. They do not have any in store for exchange. I went home and waited and waited, week passed with no news. I called LV customer service and they were unable to track it since I have no additional information on the bag. They recommended me to go back to the store to get a status. Went back to the store, and the SA took a long time to track it down and informed me that a new bag will be ship out to me. A week passed and I received an email that there is a refund from LV. Refund? Oh, no new bag for me then. Fine, I got my CC credited days later. Went back to the store to try to purchase one, there is none in stock. The SA said she will order one for me and will give me a call once they got it in. Waited and waited, no call. Weeks passed by and finally I could not wait any longer and called LV customer service and she told me there are a few available in the store. I was happy and disappointed at the same time, on why the SA does not care to call me. I rushed back to the store the next day and grab that speedy. Not going to wait any longer. I hope I do not have to experience this ever again.
