The story behind
Pierre Marie’s idea for this scarf came from the pages of a French cookery book published in 1873. Le Livre de pâtisserie was the fourth book by Jules Gouffé, the son a Parisian pastry chef famous for his pièces montées, whose shop was located on the rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, a stone’s throw from the house of Hermès. Soon his talent had earned him the title of “the apostle of decorative cuisine”. For Pierre Marie, these beautiful delicacies, amassed in a kind of culinary daydream, were irresistible. Towers of almond paste, pistachio croquembouches, decorative cake stands, colored sugars, nougatine, dessert creams and choux buns form an extravagant decor that pays tribute to the illustrator’s boundless imagination. We hope that a caring community can also bring lots of sweetness to people's lives.
