For now, in addition to my above post regarding donations, this is what I know. In my electronic invoice, tax is included for the transaction. There is no mention anywhere in the Promenade à Versailles page about tax deductible qualification, however, the bold print states "Profits from the sale of this silk scarf designed especially for Versailles by Hermes will help to fund the resoration of the palace apartments." I am unsure if that sufficiently qualifies this scarf transaction as a fund drive in the same league as PBS tax deductible fund drives which gift donors as a way of thanks. I am hoping once delivery of scarf takes place, accompanying documentation plus paper invoice/receipt will indicate if it does indeed qualify as a tax deductible donation.

Also, tax is assesed at the time of transaction despite the scarf's non EU final delivery/destination. There are international vendors who waive taxes for online orders due for delivery to foreign destinations(and I know there is the subsequent possibility of taxes being assesed and collected upon delivery to final foreign destination). However, shouldn't taxation be at the discretion of the purchaser's/donor's home country?

My apologies if I only succeeded in confusing everyone further. In the meantime, I am attaching pics of my electronic invoice, and website page information for you all to discern.

Ok, allow me to correct myself herein. Upon closer inspection, it seems taxes were computed for perhaps shipping only(although traditionally shipping costs aren't taxed, are they?), since my electronic invoice shows I was charged €279.17 for the scarf, €30 for shipping "tax incl.", bringing my total to €309.17 versus Versailles website page description indicating scarf pricing at €335.

Boy, even for a greater cause, H mystifies me! :giggles::greengrin:

Everything is "tax included" in France. This is probably a way to show that you won't have additional tax on this amount.

Yes, I would also like to know if it qualifies as a tax deductible donation. Thank you.

Will there be a custom/duty fee imposed on this scarf?
It'll be my first time ordering something from outside the US.
Thank you!

excalibar - I live in the U.S. and ordered a LE scarf (CSMC) last year (December) to benefit the World Horse Welfare charity in the UK.. I have not yet received an billing invoice for Customs duties from the transportation carrier. Customs duties on a silk scarf carry a low duty rate ( 1-2%). I just ordered the PaV online the other day and will see if I get an invoice for duties, taxes, and other fees in December.

Thank you SmoothCoatGirl!
I thought the custom fee, if any, would be higher. This is great news :)

A new series of one-of-a kind scarves is being issued:

Hermès has released the fourth edition of its Hermès Editeur series, a limited edition of art works on silk.

Argentinian artist Julio Le Parc has been selected to create 10 series of six silk scarves to be revealed at the Art Basel show in Switzerland from June 15. The pieces will be available online the same day at hermes-editeur.com. The project, says Hermès artistic director Pierre-Alexis Dumas, is a way to “forge links and create bridges between the world of manufacture and the world of art”.

Thank you scarfmischief1 for posting this. They are really stunning artwork. Silly me for thinking it would be similar price or double the normal silk. I checked out the Le Parc one is €7,000. Even more exp then the embroidered Mythique Phoenix. I was thinking of getting 1 whole series lol.
