Space for Guys & their Hermès

By the way, curious where people post more pics of men with Hermes. Instagram accounts like birkinclub4boys and meninhermes are not regularly updated, hashtags like birkin40 do not get as much volume, and you wonder if there is a broader range than what is shown in these.

You need to look beyond the basic accounts.

Below are some of the most dapper East Asian men I've been following for a long time now on social media - they regularly carry their B40s/HAC40s and don't look one bit less masculine for doing so. I hope you find whatever you need in these pages.

Thanks, this illustrates my point.

It's silly to say someone is carrying a B40 just to flaunt something when he is carrying it with an arm with a Rolex Pikachu Daytona on it.

Kenichiro's pics are indeed interesting. Do you see the black B40 matching every outfit, all the way to the outdoorsy ones and the yellow duffle coat?

Hi all, does anyone have any idea when the large plumes, seen on the runway two seasons ago, may hit the stores? I want the size 40, 😁

Those are the plume fourre-tout 40s and they are really beautiful. They've been around long before they were featured on the runway, and (rarely) pop up in stores every now and then. Let your SA know you're interested. I've been asking for a boxcalf FT40 myself.

Here's one in gorgeous butler leather I saw in Salzburg back in 2019. Still kicking myself for not buying it then! I recently saw one other on 1stDibs but that too has been sold: https://www.1stdibs.com/fr/mode/sac...rre-fourre-tout-veau-butler-40/id-v_14360812/

What's the attraction of the Plume? If you want a wider, softer, deceptively plain briefcase that showcases the leather that is better made than similar briefcases and laptop bags, but with a softer look compared to briefcases that are more polished or made of thicker leather (especially bridle)?

I asked Perplexity to give me a list of male celebrities, fashionistas and influencers who carry a Birkin or HAC 40, excluding those that are below 30, quite “fashion forward” or flamboyant, and rappers. I asked it to include Asian male celebrities.

The only name that came back was David Beckham. Everyone else with a non-flamboyant and more mainstream fashion was tagged with the more understated LV holdalls, pr more traditional leather holdalls and weekenders from Dunhill, Bennett Winch (from a Bond movie where Ana de Armas hands Daniel Craig a suit in this holdall), and other prominent leather brands, plus Goyard along with LV. (I don’t prefer LV canvas holdalls to these leather bags.)

Is this accurate as far as male celebrity samples go (excluding non-celebrity examples from Instagram)?

Correct. There's nothing unique about the shape, it's just a rectangular box, but that itself allows the leather to be the main character, which is beautiful. Many moons ago, there was a version with noir matte gator for the body, noir clemence for the sides, and noir boxcalf for the handles - I still think of it to this day.

I'm in conversation with my store to have either a plume FT40 or Victoria 43 made for me in barenia through Horizon.

Would you liken the Plume to a briefcase? it's seems more like a holdall to me.

I think @allanrvj has an amazing one made of volynka (sp?) It’s probably a bag that you have to try on to fall in love with.

DH with H08 watch; cargos; sports capsule jacket in navy/black two tone; equestrian polo shirt (the one made with more techno fabric. It’s runs small, so he got a large . He’s usually size medium / size 48). H ribbed knit t shirt. Rib eye tacos. Carnitas and fish tacos at Filigrana . Pasta and mussels at Rosseta in Mexico City. Also, cardigan and sac a depeches 21 (his travel outfit).

ETA: DH has the cargos in a few different colors. He wants khaki and I believe H will make them (bc they have the fabric and the pattern). It’s unclear whether they will charge a 30% premium or not bc he’s a current MtM client. MtM for men seems to be better priced than a lot of RTW. IDKW

I added this last pic bc I’m wearing men’s khaki twill pants (they wear like jeans) with ebene leather trim. If any other ladies are interested, I’m a women’s RTW pant 36/38 and these are a men’s 38. Very comfy; good for travel; button fly.

the proportions are very good, especially the Fourre-Tout 40. it has a narrower base than a HAC 40, and unlike the HAC (which tapers toward the top, leaving only the lower half as usable space), the Plume has a more rectangular structure, so you can fill it to the brim and it still looks great. aside from the HAC and Birkin, it's often seen on the runway of men's RTW collections. personally, I like it because it's not widely known as an Hermès bag. also it's very light. my Plume FT 40 is lighter than a Birkin 35 in clemence
