One of my biggest frustrations with a lot of designers, they dont seem to make functional ‘work’ bags. A nice sleek messenger bag, with a pocket for a normal (15”) laptop, charger, maybe an iPad and some misc items…..is impossible to find
Yeah, the only thing I have found that makes sense is my Louis Vuitton Icare [check it out, if you haven't]. It's perfect for my 15" MBP/charger/notebook/iPad/Bose headphones, AND gets me tons of compliments...but I want something from H now.

At the moment you might have to accept there is not anything equivalent from H

if you want to carry the kitchen sink you need a plumbers holdall

There was a large version of the Steve (Handbag) some years ago with handle and shoulder strap options but it was bulky
There are a few pre-loved around

Have you looked at the technical fabric offerings?
Perhaps they are too sporty? or a large Bolide?
or Wallago?

I feel that the Plume and the Victoria offer similarities to the LV Icare, and the Plume is able to accommodate a shoulder strap if I remember correctly. Victoria has flatter handles, and I believe may be worn on the shoulder.

Unrelated - I enjoy the LV Icare in DE very much and considered adding it for a long time as a travel bag.

only the mini Plume has rings that are specifically for straps.

all other Plume models don't. the handbag versions have longer handles for shoulder carry, and the ones that can fit laptops are only hand carries.

This is an issue for women too (I’ve been searching for an elegant handbag, H or equivalent, that will take a 13” laptop, while looking smaller than it is, for ever). If you’re willing to move more towards a briefcase format you could try Valextra. Or otherwise consider going custom with somebody like Peter Nitz. HTH

Have you tried a Victoria 35 or a whitebus or a 33 sellier evelyne (a totally different bag than the regular Evelyne)
here is my DH with an Evelyne sellier 33 (also a sac a depeches (not how he normally wears it, but we were getting on a plane. His large iPad and keyboard fit with other things. The sac a depeches 42 fits a ton of stuff. But is really heavy empty. perhaps the sac a depeches 38 might be an option. . .

Great suggestions. Without wanting to hijack the guys' thread, my Victoria 35 is great for an iPad Pro and goes over the shoulder so it's ideal for lots of situations. It's not the best solution for a laptop IME. I love the Whitebus and have actually been looking for a good example. But personally I'll be going the Peter Nitz route, most likely.

So I had seen the new allback messenger bag on the china website (https://www.hermes.cn/cn/en/product/allback-messenger-bag-H084117CJAA/) and thought that would be a nice messenger to use on days when rain might prevent me from wanting to use my K40 Lakis or when I am traveling (being made mostly of canvas and less likely to be as damaged by daily use ) I asked my SA to add it to my wish list (in blue)when it arrives in the US and one day last week a blue one popped up on the US website and I immediately snagged it (and haven’t seein one since). At $6K+ not cheap for a canvas back but not surprised given other H prices.

the bag came a few days ago and I really like it though the dimensions are a lot larger than what’s stated in the website - nearly 12 1/2 inches long VS the 9.8 listed on the website (And in photo below). Actually works out bettter for me as now my 12 inch laptop more than fits and the bag is very roomy.

i was curious if anybody had heard anything else about the bag and am going to call Hermes to ask about the size discrepancy.

long time reader who has decided to jump into the blogs and join the conversations. imalso have a sac a depeches 29 and this messenger is sized closer to that bag though a lot wider and don’t feel as near ours about this bag.

I’ve attached a few photos. In reality the blue is darker than it appears in photos - more of a royal blue.

Hoping to see Hermes' clarification on the size discrepancy - I'm glad that the size is working out better for you, though!
I enjoy how sporty this looks, and the texture & pattern of the canvas is lovely.

Would also love to see your Kelly Lakis if you ever get a chance to snap some pictures - it's one of my favorite bags.

DH tried on two coats today, and everyone, including our SA and the bespoke SA knew immediately that they didnt fit and were totally wrong for him. . . they both ran very very large. DH is normally a 49/50. His last H jacket was a 48. one of the coats here was a 44. Our SA said even a 42 would be too large. Tagging @Buildingprofile bc I replied to a post of his re coats in the RTW thread, post 3306 :)

they were so unflattering that I forgot to take a pic of the tag. The plaid/ windowpane was 5350USD I think.
IMO, one needs model long legs to carry the shearling without feeling like a chunky teddy bear on top
