I personally feel perpetually victimized by the fashion industry. In men's fashion, design and practicality coexist. In women's fashion, they rarely ever do. Shopping is constant hell for me because I think like an engineer, I'm practical, and I'm intolerant of discomfort. That said, I consider 3" heels essentially flats. But I am disturbed by, for example, how much women's clothing is designed to show off our bodies. Im also disturbed by how everything is dry clean only (even when it isn't), etc. I also hate how there is too much variability and there are way too many bad ideas. I look through my brothers closet and through men's departments and I am so envious.
Recently, I have probably spent hundreds of hours shopping for a new day bag. Not a single bag between $1000 and $3000 meets all of my functional requirements while also being decent looking enough for me to actually want to buy it. It's really depressing. Im also bothered by how I feel like I need to carry something decently sized in order to appear grown up and sophisticated. But I only carry a couple things.
I personally am so driven by vanity. I'm also driven by how much other women judge me based on what I wear and carry. This affects how I am treated, whether I am taken seriously, respected, etc. I resent this.
