Surfing around the net, I found this.

It's a fashion forum in France, and this is the thread dedicated to showing your e-ring. I read French but I think the photos speak for themselves even if you don't understand the words. It started in 2006 and goes up to this April so far.
Lots of beautiful rings. And 99% are REALLY small diamonds. there's not many rings that are even .25 for the center stone. But the designs are so gorgeous, I keep looking and drooling.
I think that the rings on the site are quite expensive though. I understand that diamonds cost a great deal more in Europe than in the U.S. Two or three times as much. Also, a lot of the rings, even the majority are from houses such as Mauboussin and Chaumet and other big names so I think they must be paying for that cachet. Maybe it's a toss up as whether you'd rather spend on the design of the setting or the stone.
Anyway, I just thought that some of you others might also like to look.
P.S. Another surprise was so few colored stone e-rings. I lived in France thirty years ago, my impression was that a few people had diamond e-rings but most had colored gemstones. Sapphires were especially popular, often in what was called the 'marguerite style'--which was basically like Princess Diana's with the diamonds around the colored stone (but much much smaller than hers). a lot of sapphires in France seem to be the 'Ceylon' sapphires, too, which are light and a kind of greyish blue, not royal blue or dark blue, but very pretty. but there are only one or two colored gemstone rings on this site, funny how times change.
