Wanted to ask for your opinion - I wanted to purchase the Chaine d’ancre chaos earrings but I’m told by a friend that it’s not really a classic and I should stick to the original motif. I can see that since I’m really not very adventurous with my style. What are your thoughts? With the recent price increase, it’s getting close to the price of my VCA diamond pave earrings, which I adore. Not sure if it’s a good “investment”IMG_2115.jpeg

I think they are beautiful (though would personally prefer a symmetrical style). The Chaine d’ancre is one of H‘s most used motifs so I’m not sure what would make them more “classic” unless classic just means boring? If you love them and if they fill a gap in your earring collection, I’d definitely say to get them.

The design is beautiful. Do you like dangly earrings? Does it bother you or get stuck in your hair? Will you find it too heavy? I think knowing what style of earrings you actually like using is a better guide to whether it would fit you.

On the other point of jewelry being investment. They are not. I think the main thing is people get hung up on “oh Hermes isn’t a fine jewelry maker but they’re charging premium prices.”
Would you like this earring if you never got a bag offer or weren’t after a bag?
If so then get it.

I tried on a lot of vca stuff and honestly I can’t say their jewelry is so much better than Hermes at this price point.

It just hurts to see the price deflated in the second hand market bc so many people resell it bc they really couldn’t afford it in the first place and only bought to get a bag. This doesn’t happened with vca or Cartier and they also have broader mass market appeal which keeps the price steady.

Don’t get it if you don’t appreciate Hermes fj on its own. You’ll never think it’s worth it.

I personally find this collection rather flimsy / nonsubtantial for a luxury brand. The most chaos i would buy from H jewelry would be the punk collection (no longer available i think) but that's just me.

I like to think of FJ as an "investment" in my happiness 😊

I think these earrings look lovely with the asymmetry. You should try them on in the boutique to see if it suits your style though!

I have the chaos bracelet of this line and I am thinking about getting these earrings in the future to match!

I’ve tried these on in the boutique and really adored them. I loved the playful asymmetry and they were comfortable and light. I’m still considering to purchase them. I just haven’t yet because I don’t normally wear jewelry and this is not a “day-to-day” style for me. I would suggest you try them on and see how you like them in person. Pictures online don’t do the products justice. I wouldn’t be too concerned if one perceived it as “classic” or not. It’s how you rock them and how you feel wearing them :)
