Hi everyone! I just received a vintage Coach I purchased on ebay and I have extremely mixed feelings. The bag itself was described in mint condition, but there are some defects I'm unhappy with. However, I would still be willing to keep it, but the chain turned out to not be original to the bag - the seller did not mention this in the listing. It is a very cheap and lightweight link chain you can find at a dollar store...the chain doesn't match the gold of the hooks, which also don't match to the purse turnlock closure!! So I took it off and put on a brown strap from another Coach I already owned. I need opinions on this brown strap/white purse look. Do you think I should keep the bag and just rotate out my brown strap between the two purses? Or should I just return the bag? I paid $35 + $11 shipping. EDIT: How do I add photos??

Are you talking about the chain for the hangtag? I often get purses where the chain needs polishing much more than the rest of the hardware. My guess is the chains for the hangtags are not exactly the same metal as the rest of the hardware. Does the actual purse strap not match the rest of the bag?

Here is my most recent haul from Savers and Goodwill:

-Twill and leather Coach bag
-3 Coach belts, (after having never found a single one, I found 3 in 24 hours)
-a small Coach wallet/coin pouch that needs a bath, but has a patina to it that I really like.

Non-Coach items are a pair of Cole Haan mocassins that look nearly new, and a leather and suede Furla signature bag. I have to get the Furla authenticated still, but it looks pretty good to me so far!

With the little toy cars I bought for my son, everything was just under $50, with a 25% off coupon for Savers.

Here they are, all one big happy, thrifty family:

No, it's actually a small chain strap for the entire handbag (think Chanel-esque). I had never seen anything like that before and thought it looked really classy for evening. However, when I got it, I realized that it was added on recently - it's very cheap to the touch - and that the handbag probably originally came with the matching white long leather strap. So I am trying my brown strap with it and hoping that looks OK...I can't decide whether it looks good or weird!!

You're welcome!
I think it looks nice. This bag never ever came with a chain strap. It is a pocket purse. Sometimes Coach made spectator bags that had contrasting straps, although I have never seen one for this style. I think I would add a brown hangtag too.
