Its a natural 3.20ct cushion cut. Very dear to my heart as the stone was my great great grandmothers.... We had it reset though a couple of years ago as the old setting was very worn.Enjoying seeing everyone else's sapphires, they're beautiful!
love it...i'm living vicariously through everyones beauties until my purple sapphire is finished being set. my fingers are a size 7 and my sapphire is 2.05ct being set like the pink sapphire in my avatar...i hope it looks good!

I'm very very very new to jewelry and don't even own a diamond. I just got my ears pierced about 3 weeks ago and I'm already thinking about the first gemstones I will get
I love the look of Sapphires, the different colors, everything! ...but I know nothing about them.
Am I wrong to think that sapphires aren't as expensive as diamonds? I know that this is a very general statement that may not apply in all cases... *sigh*

^sapphires are definitely less expensive than diamonds. they are the hardest gemstone next to a diamond, so they're great for daily wear.
also wore a madagascar pink sapphire (cushion cut) ring with tube set side stones...

In general diamonds are more expensive than sapphires. So, sapphires can make great 1st earrings. Do you have a price range, the girls and I would be happy to help you find your 1st pair?

I'm having a hard time finding them in my area. I went to a jewelry store the other day but they only had some weird silver jewelry and a few diamond studs??? No other colored gems.
My aunt is a jewelry NUT and has the most gorgeous jewelry... maybe she will be able to help me a bit in my search. I'm not sure how much I'm looking to spend... I'm thinking less than 500... which probably isn't going to get me much gemstone-wise
I'm guessing somewhere around 500 (about $700). Money is tight now so I don't wanna start hinting DH for earrings that are insanely expensive
I also have no clue how much sapphire earrings can cost!
