Long post

20 years ago, a clueless girl bought a black bag from Mango and a leather wallet from some unknown leather shop. She loved them, wore them until the items fell apart.

The girl gained some wisdom, grew up to become a woman that she is, and to her horror, realized that the bag was an inspired Plume and the wallet a fake bearn. Both from Hermes!

I tell my husband that it is completely FATE and NOT MY fault that I am addicted to Hermes. I was unwittingly drawn to it since a young age. it’s ingrained in me.

So here’s my recently acquired, 20-yr-old Plume 32, Blue Thalassa, GHW to remind me of the naive girl I was, and how far I’ve become.

PS: I am so glad to spot this at the right time with the right price. Plume is so simple, so streamlined, that it benefits from the fun vibrato. And that it comes in Blue, my gap colour from H AND in GHW is just serendipity.
I had a rather similar experience. When l was an Hermes virgin, I bought a satin bag from Alice & Oliva that l didn’t know was Plume-inspired and loved the bag so much for its simplicity and lightweightness, l used it until the material fell apart at the edges. I was so delighted when l found out about the Plume, but alas, its astronomical current retail price and rarity makes it almost impossible to attain from Hermes boutique.
Imagine my absolute delight when l managed to get a 20 year old boxcalf plume 28 in pristine condition from a reseller at less than a third of current retail price! Delirious!

I feel like square, and rectangular, bags are becoming very popular. Especially in the quiet luxury world (that Loro Piana bag on the blog today says it all). Wondering if the Plume will become more popular or if it's just too boxy for the masses. I am hoping to get one in Paris later this year...we'll see.... :-)

My batik cloth, which I wear as a shawl, is a perfect match to the vibrato. Been wearing it a lot this spring.

Doesn’t mean I don’t want a blue H shawl….

@Helventara I hope you can forgive my copycat decision, but your Vibrato plume is so fabulous that when I saw one on a resale site I pounced. I’m in love - thank you for the inspiration!
