Haha I still love my barenia kelly....but she is heavy  am taking a break from lugging her around. The canvas strap I use from Chapman is perfect but it is also heavy...with rugged hardware. I think as I get older I just get tired of the weight....I have never owned a GP. For some reason they don't appeal to me though I know so many love them. I don't know about a 28 Plume, but my 32 Plumes do fit on my shoulder though its snug with the bag right under my arm pit It's not a long term comfort carry by any means, but if I need to I can do it. I don't know - I love the 32 Plume - you may want to revisit  It holds about the same if not more than a 30 B, and certainly as much as my 35 K. It's pretty roomy while remaining light and comfortable!

The “arm pit bag” thing is my issue with the GP. That said, the Plume 32 is very appealing! Maybe if the right color/leather combo comes along, I will jump. Interesting that you find the VN plume lighter than the Barenia K — that’s a pretty apples-to-apples leather comparison, which tells me the Plume is truly a lighter bag.

Oh jeez....my VN Plume 32 is WAAAAAAY lighter than ms. Barenia 35K. Not even close. Given I THINK the two leathers start at relatively similar weights, I chalk it up to the structure and design of the bags for the weight difference. A B or a K has hardware obviously...and possibly more dense construction? One thing also....and Docride would know whereas I'm only guessing - Barenia that has been conditioned over time may get heavier as the leather is already an oil soaked leather, and use of a saddle baume for instance will absorb more "into" the leather and add a little density. The VN doesn't seem to capture and hold the baume/conditioner with the same thirst. Also the Plume is lined in chevre which I prefer to the fabric liner of a Victoria. I fully enable and support your exploration of a Plume in the future :)

Sharing my favorite bag over last year or so....after sitting in my closet for so long, unused, for many years...my Vache Natural Plume 32 emerged as my number one go to. Over the years, my tastes and proclivities evolve....Birkins become too heavy. Kellys too fussy. Both too recognizable. Picotin not quite right. PB 37 too big. Black box too dressy.....and voila. I had the right bag for the mission all along! I love her patina...have worked on her over time with many of Docride's time tested methods/products. She is light, holds everything I need, under the radar, fits over my shoulder when I want, is worn in and impervious to water or light scratches...and people always remark and ask about her. I love Vache Natural!! And I love the PLUME! View attachment 4326763
My thoughts exactly regarding the various Hermes bags. I have never tried the Plume . . . thank you for steering me in that direction.

Would love to see that! Also because I just got a Plume 32! I am thinking of passing by Hermes this weekend to see the sangle straps. I was thinking of one for my Kelly, but if it can multitask the cost is better justified
Ok, I know this is late:blush:but here are the straps I have used on my plume. The bag is empty so it looks smooshed:biggrin:

I am thinking of a Plume in the future but wondering if a Plume (probably size 32) and a Victoria (which I already and love) is too similar? My desire to get a plume is I get a variety of leather choices whereas the Victorias so far I have only seen in Clemence.

Having had a Victoria (re-homed) and now owning a couple of Plumes, I can share my personal opinion. In photos where the 2 styles may be sitting on a surface, the Victoria and Plume may look similar - both rectangular shaped, simple lines, no hardware like a Birkin or Kelly, etc. But in real life, to me the 2 bags are very very different to use and in feel. You have a V. The Plume has much more structure, even in the various leathers - and to my knowledge it is never constructed in a softer leather like Clemence. Plumes are lined in chevre. They don't "flop" or collapse which is better for me. Handles are shorter than a V so the Plume shoulder carry is impossible for some and tight-ish under the armpit for those of us that can do it. Better for a hand carry or crook of the arm carry compared to the V handles. On the other hand, the V handles were long enough for shoulder carry, but just long enough to be awkwardly long for a hand carry for me (I'm not that tall). Plume zipper only goes one direction which is kind of wierd at first for me but now I'm fine with it and like it. Plenty of room, very light and easy. I think perhaps the Plume would outlast a V due to its structure and heartier leather choices (with the exception of Swift Plumes). I also think the Plume - depending on leather and color - can be worn casually or more dressy. The V seems like always a casual bag to me due to its smooshy structure. I also found the V - at 35cm - to be a little too long in the base looks-wise on me when carried over shoulder. I don't feel that way with the Plume 32. Hope that long winded description helps!

Oh thanks! It looks great . I must confessed I didn’t wait for your pics and went and got a strap for it . I believe it shows in my last pic. I don’t really carry it by the strap, but use it when I need to be hands/arms free. Also, while the Plume fits confortably over my shoulders with a top or even a blazer, a coat is pushing it.

Still loving my Plume, so much so I am considering a new one in a more summerly shade (but now, I also need a black Plume ). Oh how I wish the would sell the 32s at the store! Those mini-plumes really don’t speak to me.

This is gorgeous and so encouraging to go for a VN Plume...

I saw your amazing new strap! Fabulous! :flowers:I’m so glad you got one and I love that it multi colored! Do you like the width?

Sorry I was so late to the party:blushing:

I don’t find them similar at all. The plume is structured compared to the Victoria and the leather choices are great, you can get it in fjord. Which would be ideal for me and my clumsiness! Will you get one in ostrich or croc?:graucho:
love this.
Thank you!:flowers:

To be honest, I would have chosen the wider guitar strap, like your second one, but they didn’t have it in store in that particular color way, which I loved (Not sure whether it even exists). Anyway, I am very happy with this one all the same. It is very comfortable and it looks very good against the bag, like a bag accessory really, while being less loud than a wide one.
Btw, In the store buying the strap, the SA and SM oohed and aahed at the Plume, the SM even allowed that they would put down for me the last letres gavroche they had up for decoration which he had refused to do in an earlier visit just a couple of days before
