Imo the plume is meant to be hand carried, not worn on the shoulder. Even at 32 some people have carried on the shoulder in a pinch, but due to its box shape, it would not be very comfortable. It is a great alternative to a birkin or tote with added plus of secure zipper. I’ve never had a problem with the zippers on my plumes. But i do leave the top open sometimes for work for easier access then zip up when on the go. Was told bu H craftsmen that even though the plume is minimal in desogn, the construction is intricate, thus its retail price.

Many thanks! As I said, I know the Plume is a hand/crook of the arm bag, and that is fine. But I think it is handy that one can momentarily hang in on the shoulder if needed to be hands free. I have heard people do that. But I could hardly wrap one handle around my shoulder (over a fairly thin trench), let alone the two... So I was a bit puzzled about this.

With time the handles should relax and stretch slightly in order for you to wear it on your shoulder. Not super comfortably as it was not designed that way, but more so than what you experience now. That said, I’m not sure how relaxed Chamonix gets over time but it has been the case with my (now vintage) Barenia and Vache 32’s.

I would not recommend attaching straps to a 32.

I have not had issues with the zipper on my 32’s, but like Lanit usually wear it open, for easy access along with a scarf laid on top to protect contents.

The difference between the old and new mini plume is a slight size difference (aside from the strap on the new mini): 18 vs 20cm.

Would love to see that! Also because I just got a Plume 32! I am thinking of passing by Hermes this weekend to see the sangle straps. I was thinking of one for my Kelly, but if it can multitask the cost is better justified

So, I have finally tried a Plume 32 in my local consignment shop (they don't seem to have them anymore in Hermes stores). I don't think I have ever noticed one in this size in the wild, which is funny because there is plenty of H around where I live.

This particular Plume was a black Chamonix with PHW, which is totally beautiful. With the Chamonix though, I find myself wishing it had a bit more shine, which surely is against the whole point of it...

My first impression was that the bag felt smaller than I thought it would. It is very light and every bit as elegant as I expected, but I can easily see how to dress it down. I love the interior, and it would fit everything for a work day, even when I am carrying extras.

Qualms: the single zipper. Is this comfortable? I used to own a Chloe Madeleine (similar minimalist look) with a single zipper and it was a pain to open and close. That was a Boston shape bag, so quite different. But still, I would be interested to hear if you, Plume users, find the zip easy.

And, the bag was not as comfortable to wear on the shoulder as I had thought it would. I know it is primarily a hand held bag, which I am very fine with, but still, I am rather petite and was wearing a trench coat on the day... Could this be because of the rigidity of the Chamonix (with softer leathers being easier in this regard)?. Or, I have noticed, looking around, that the handles of size 32 Plumes seem to change in proportion from model to model. Is this the case? are there shorter and longer Plume handles?

Very grateful for every piece of advice!

Congratulations your Plume!!!! I wish you ll the joy in the world to wear it.

Just to answer your questions regard use:

I don't find the zipper difficult, but then I have 3 Bolides too so perhaps I'm used to it. As lanit wrote, because the handles pull the 2 sides of the bag together, you don't have to zip the bag up constantly.

The handles are not for the shoulders. There were many variations and sizes of Plumes, some with shorter handles, even one with a padded laptop case, these were mostly marketed towards men (coz we know women don't have to go to work  ). The handles on a Plume look longer than they are because they curve round the depth of the bags' 'shoulders' and are elegantly thin and round.

Be careful with a strap, there's really no space. Choose one with a small link if you have to have one and make sure it does't make 1/2/ the handle slide around and pull.

Store your Plume with the handles pointing up if you can. This will help stop indentations that can occur on the body.

Thanks for all the intel!

I do have to post pics of the bag. So far I am loving it. No trouble at all with the zip, despite the single zipper it works very smoothly. The handles in this one fit easily around my shoulder when needed too (I am starting to think the Chamonix I tried was a 28...).
The Hermes strap links fit fine, but the thing with a strap is, I have realised, that you could not wear the handles down (which would make it a kind of a camera shoulder bag shape), because the strap would pull the handle upwards, not sure whether I am explaining myself properly...
In any event, it is a very comfortable bag to carry by hand/crook of the arm, with it being so light and the thin delicate rolled handles are a dream.

I wanted to take proper pictures of my new (to me) Plume 32 and thank everybody who helped me with the purchase (including all the wonderful pics in this thread), but it is just not happening so here go at least a couple of bad ones. In the first I was trying that oversized knit. The other too were taken in a metro station the first time I took it out. It deserves better, I know.
By the way, I did attach a strap to it and it works great.
