:amazed: So it wouldn't look like watermarks on LV vachetta? Saw docride mentioned in the past that VN had some semi-finish, so I guess it's possible it might not patina much? But it really doesn't darken even after blackrock, only the scruffed parts...
Ok, now I can see the pictures on my desktop computer. As far as I can tell, it's Vache Natural, and the grey watermarks look exactly the same as the ones on my VN Kelly. Not sure why it would be grey on VN but brown on Vachetta, but the leathers may be processed differently. Your bag may not have darkened much because it hasn't been used much. My Kelly is about 20 years old, and it is about the same color as your Plume. It sat in its dustbag in a closet for 5 years before I started using it regularly. It darkened a tiny bit over those five years, but the difference was only noticeable when I compared it to photos from the day I bought it. Now that I've been using it regularly, I can see much more change in color, especially on the handles and straps where my hands touch the leather a lot, BUT it's still not very dark.. Blackrock or Hermes Saddle baume will hasten the color change, but unlike with Barenia, the change comes slowly. I've found that the leather patinas just as nicely and quickly from contact with your hands (handles, straps, the rest of the bag if you routinely rub your hands all over your bag ).

Thanks for checking again! I was really puzzled over the grey watermarks and no reaction to Blackrock (actually I already applied 2B+1O+2B as I was afraid of more watermarks). But it's good that to finally hear that it might be normal for VN and I guess I'm half :) that it wouldn't change color so soon, and half :( that any scruffs/rubbing off the semi-finish will be very prominent. But glad the mystery is solved, and yes, I do occasionally rub my hands all over my bag :p

The lack of patina after all this time makes me think it's not VN [emoji848]. I have the same bag in VN, nearly the same age:

Another possible option is Vache Espace.

Yes, this was what I was expecting from VN too! But it looks nothing like that. What year is yours? Perhaps they changed their production method? :confused1:

I doubt it; I'll have to check but it's nearly the exact same age as yours, give or take a year.

Hi. Been doing some research and this might be some interest to the Plume lovers out there . Apologies if this has been mentioned elsewhere before.

Sometime between an F stamp in a square (2002) and an N stamp in a square (2010), Hermès has quietly redesigned Plume Document Carrier to be more aligned with the Plume 24H and Plume Fourre-Tout, rather than the smaller Plume handbags. Shown below are comparisons between a rouge H box Plume Doc (2002) and gold swift Plume doc (2010).

1. The diamond tab that attaches the handle to the body has been made bigger, and the handles a bit thicker:

2. The diamond zipper tabs and zipper ends have been "chopped off", and a reinforcement stitch has been added

3. The single interior pocket has been split to make two compartments:

Hello Plume experts. What a fabulous thread and wealth of information. Not to mention the enabling!

I have a plume-shaped hole in my collection and was hoping you could give me some advice on the look and visual effect of a 28 vs a 32. Is the 32 visually the same size as a Birkin 35 and the 28 closer to a B30? I know they are different shapes and B's are rather deep-- I'm just asking about the general visual effect. I have skinny arms and can carry either size Plume on my shoulders so hand/shoulder carry isn't an issue. Is the 32 more of a tote and the 28 more of a ladylike bag? I'm inclined to go for the smaller size, but could I style a 28 to make it look edgier since I'm not very formal.
Thanks!

Hi, welcome to the Plume party!

I'd say the P28 is similar to the K28, both function more as handbags, although the Plume slightly less so as it fits a bit more, doesn't narrow at the top and is also a bit wider.

The P32 is like a horizontal tote. I only have a B30 so am not sure how it compares to the B35 but am not inclined to think they are so similar. The Plume handles can fit over some people's shoulders, it's a narrower bag and is not nearly as heavy or bulky. I'm not sure what to compare the 32 to.... maybe a less structured briefcase? It does also remind me of a Balenciaga city in shape and function (when I put a purse organizer inside to give it some structure).

Hope this helps. And Happy Plume hunting!!!
