i don't know the exact grade of mine (our appraisal is locked away in a sdb), but if i remember correctly, it's either a j or a k. if i find out otherwise, i will edit. it is an estate ring that my mother purchased when i was in high school. she always promised it to me and finally gave it to me a few months ago. i took it to my jeweler and had him resize and polish.
it's a platinum setting with two baguettes on the side totaling .5 carat, and center stone is 3 carats.
i love this ring and it will eventually go to my daughter to continue the tradition.

If you mean colored fire, that's more a function of the way a stone is cut. BUT, my own personal experience is that lower colors (H and lower in this case) offer more depth and simply come across as more colorful. I have had many people comment about my stones, and always about the way they reflect colors. I think they just behave differently than colorless stones. Then again, old cuts are more firey in general due to the depth of the cut and that they were cut for candlelight.

First off I SUCK at jewelry photos, so just picture this diamond being sparkly, which it is in real life. It's a K with strong blue fluoro as per the GIA cert. It has more glitter on the outer edges and more chunky sparkle towards the middle. That's why I like fancy shapes- it's not all fine glittery sparkle like ideal rounds. Thanks to the prongs at the tips it looks like a marquise :weird: We're going to have to get it re-set!

Also, I have a giant red bathrobe on so ignore the slight red reflects. The stone really does face up white in a variety of settings (not colorless, but I don't like colorless stones). To me it looks like an I-J. He saved a ****ton by going down to K, so I highly recommend it, although a K I had before didn't face up white (no fluoro), so we sent it back

I love this thread! I use to like my diamonds as white as possible. Now I
want more character in my stones. I've traded a few rings with white and new diamonds for this old ring with Bolsjewic cut. I love my 'light yellow' diamond.
Erica, I really love your antique Asscher!!!!! Wow indeed.
Onecreativegirl and Erica, your rings are exquisite!
I've always been an emerald or asscher cut girl but recently I have been loving the pear and marquise cuts, which is odd. When I was younger I hated, with a passion, the marquise cut but now it completely entices me.
Holy Moly! What are the specs of that puppy???!
Love the new contributions to this thread - keep 'em coming!!!
