I'm just wondering how long it took Leon to make your rings? I know it's 4-6 weeks but my boyfriend is wondering how long it usually takes. Thank you! :)

He quotes me six weeks but it was ready after only four (much to my happiness). However, I only had his classic double claw solitaire so the work involved was a lot less than pave.

Good luck and make sure to post photos when you get it!!!!!

I had double claw and a lot of pave. . . I know I've posted before how long it took. I can't remember exactly anymore, but if you search my posts about him you'll find it.
He did NOT go over projected date though.

Here are my ering and band from Leon Mege.

Gorgeous ring!

I especially love this one. It reminds me of the Tiffany soleste setting. Maybe Tiffany copied him. lol

The blue color is divine. *sigh* Now that's a sapphire blue. Unheated too. How rare.

THIS ring is STUNNING!!! I have a friend who is working with Leon on a jewelry suite, ring, earrings, necklace and bracelet. My friend also knows someone who is a total PIA and Leon's quote came back sky high! He knows how to weed out the crazies!!!

If you want to see a stunning ring of Leon's check out Youtube, put in Leon Mege Paris at Night Ring.

Just proposed to my girlfriend with a Leon engagement ring and she said yes! I cannot say enough great things about Leon and his team. I was a bit nervous purchasing such an important piece of jewelry over emails and phone calls (I am from Iowa) but I am so glad I did! It was such a smooth process working through this project. Every phone call was answered and every email was replied to. The detail, craftsmanship, quality, etc...is second to none. It is one thing to see a bunch of Leon rings over the internet but to actually hold one in person was AMAZING! We looked around at local Big Store jewelers in town, tried on many rings, and NOTHING was even close to what we ended up with from Leon. My fiance gets compliments all the time and it makes me feel good every single time! I would recommend Leon to my nearest and dearest without hesitation. Thank you, Leon, for making my dreams come true!

WOOHOO PICS!

My biggest issue in getting a price from him was how blatantly he told me that he has rules for wearing his creations, and that whether I wanted it low or not, he would set it how he felt it should be set, not how I am paying him to set it. I get ignored and mistreated by other less-revered jewelers just the same, but if I am paying you more than anyone else, I want it how i asked for it.

I don't have an LM piece (maybe some day) but I wanted to comment on this...

There are a lot of reasons someone would say this. The first being that each piece is as much a representation of him and his craftsmanship as it is your engagement ring/necklace/whatever. He has his style and if you don't like his style, then go elsewhere.

Another reason... he's worked with jewelry for years. He knows rings very well. He goes with what he knows looks best. "I paid for it to be this way" usually turns into "I hate it, fix it!" and the artist's original gut instinct was the correct one.

And someone commented that he didn't want other pieces worn next to his... that's because he doesn't want to have to deal with repairing something you screwed up by wearing pieces that weren't made to go with it. Telling you not to protects him from you coming back and demanding free repairs because "you didn't tell me not to wear other things with it."

The man is only human. Like all of us, he has good days and bad days. Or maybe he didn't like your attitude and didn't want to work with you (just a thought, since we only ever hear half the story.) That's the joy of having your own business - you don't have to serve people you don't want to, no matter how much money they wave at you. There is always someone in line behind you. Hopefully some day that is me. :p

Leon's a quirky guy, and his personality style isn't for everyone, but DAMN does the man have an eye for proportion - his pieces are exquisite. I worked with him on a personal piece once and it was magnificent. The center stone was a GIA L color antique asscher and every time I called the shop, they'd say, "Oh I know, you're the crooked asscher that's a little yellow, hang on a sec..." :roflmfao:

He then went on to post some of my pics on his site, since he didn't do his usual photo shoot, but he had his photographer edit the warmth out of my stone. SIGH. Oh Leon.

Funny story. We were in Vegas for JCK last year and passed a booth with LM boxes in the window. So my partner Grace stops me and says, "Hey, those are Leon settings!" A gentleman stands up and says, "You know Leon?" So I say "Yes, he did a setting for me a few years ago, and we've been in touch off and on over the years, we're in the trade." This guy then gives us the 3rd degree - who are we, what did we order from Leon, etc. Finally he sticks out his hand and says, "I'm Leon, but I have no idea who you are."

After much memory refreshing, he finally remembered me. Not for my crooked yellow asscher, but because about 6 years ago I sent him an angry email criticizing the way his site was written - about how lower colored stones are junk, bad quality, no one would want them, inferior, etc. So he asked me to send him text of what I thought it should say, which I did, and he then posted verbatim on his site, lol. That made me happy, for those of us who love the warmer spectrum of colors. That's what he remembered, "You're the one who didn't like the way my site was written and yelled at me."

He's a funny guy :)

All right I got many pics:graucho:

This is the most beautiful ring I have ever seen. I just started getting into jewelry the past couple of years and am just now contemplating getting my ring reset. I just love the uniqueness of your ring, simply stunning!!!

LOL Erica!!! I think I posted my experience w/ him in this thread way back when. But I met him during a pretty delicate life issue for him and he was completely professional, yes quirky, and very patient. I'd use him over and again.
My ring gets compliments daily. It's so delicate and beautiful IRL.

It's a treasure! I hope to have a Leon 3/4 eternity ring soon (maybe for a big anniversary!)
