Should I sell my 227 Reissue for a Hermes Lindy

Another vote to keep your reissue and not sell it for a Lindy... I use my LV Epi Neverfull in Black to carry my lunch and other essentials to work....It holds so much and looks elegant...

I have both but would not give up either. Though I also would not put any food or liquids in lindy either since it's leather lining. Unfortunately expensive bags are also high maintainence. So even with a Lindy u might still carry an extra bag.

catsinthebag - such great advice!

I often wonder if Lindy can actually hold that much stuff Inside? Won't it sag in the middle which is totally not the look I want ...

Sorry OP, never never carry food in any leather handbag. Please use something else like a tote catsinthebag suggests.

I went through a similar dilemma about a year ago, considering selling my 227 for more Hermes. Then I got quotes from some reputable online consignment shops (including Yoogi's and Ann's) and was shocked at how little I'd get for a bag that is in new condition and still has everything (box, dust bag, card, etc.). I realized that although I don't use the bag that often, if I sold it I'd never re-buy it and I decided to keep it. It's a beautiful classic and although I don't wear it often, I'm really glad now that I didn't sell.

I like the Lindy on others but I don't think it would work for me. It is a bulky bag that sticks out from the body when worn by the shoulder strap, and my SA told me the way it folds in on itself when carried by the handles would drive me crazy (and I suspect she's right). The top does not zip shut. Between the Lindy and the Speedy B, I'd rather have the Speedy B before we even get to the price difference.

I have three Hermes Garden Parties but find when I need to carry a lot, I resort to a trusty Longchamp Le Pliage, which is lighter, has a zipper and the handles fit over the shoulder much more easily. If you want to continue to carry your 227 to work, I'd just ditch the paper bag and get a Longchamp. But if you're looking for a classy office bag that fits more, how about the Fendi 2Jours? Really beautiful bag, IMO, and well made and will fit what you need for way less money than a Lindy. Just my 2 cents.

Hello ladies thanks so much for considering for me!! Can't tell u all how helpful the comments have been. I've decided to keep my reissue as it's truly a beautiful classic iconic piece from Chanel it'll be a shame to let her go! It's a black with ghw I own. I think it doesn't suit my working lifestyle. But to keep it as a fancy dinner bag, well, at this stage of my life, to be perfectly honest, I can count on one hand the number of 'nice dinners' I had in the last 4 years. That explained why I sold off so many small bags these few years.

BUT I have gotten a Lindy 30 in a nice neutral color. I had to take neutral cos all of my neutral Dior bags have just disintegrated over the last 2-3 years due to qualify issues (sorry I don't mean to offend any Dior lovers). My new Lindy is half funded by 3 small Chanel bags I've sold.

It's true I've lost a lot of money by selling the small bags - probably slightly more than half only and they were vvv well maintained (due to lack of use!). But the freedom I feel now in having a large roomy bag yet chic bag is indescribable.

I think as a working mother who needs to carry a toddler to childcare and pick up after work it has certainly changed my mindset over bags. It's very function over form now.

I agree with the lindy being too bulky to be worn handheld (hits the lower legs, hard to walk) and crook of arm (bulky, juts out). I sold mine and have never looked back.

The only good thing I recall is it is very comfortable on the shoulder (with the bag tucked behind the arm or else it is a very bulky extension of the hip and who needs that?) thanks to the wide leather strap but you wrote you wanted light-weight? It is nothing but light, heavy even when empty.

Carries a fair bit but since it is squarish, you cannot even fit an ipad in unless it is diagonally and that cuts the space in half.

Congrats on your new Lindy! It is important to have a beautiful, functional bag that fits you current lifestyle and one you Love! A handbag is a reflection of your personal style and really completes your " look". It has to be " right". A neutral Lindy is a gorgeous choice and I'm sure you'll love and use it for years! I'm also happy you're keeping your Reissue. It's my absolute favorite Chanel. There will come a day when you use it a lot more and it's a timeless beauty!

Sorry to hear your Diors didn't hold up well. Do you mind me asking if you've ever owned a Lady Dior? I'm ready to buy a medium Lady and it'll be my first Dior. It won't be a daily bag, but I want it to use and enjoy and hold up! Thanks!

Oops missed this one, glad it is working for you OP

Yes it is bulky. I got my lindy in 30 so it's not heavy. I think right now I'm just amazed by how much my lindy can fit! The zips drive me crazy though.

I love flap bags. They are so convenient. I just wish Chanel makes bigger flap bags that can actually hold stuffs. I've waited for many seasons and never found any. If I had found a large roomy flap I don't think I would've crossed over to the dark orange side.

Hello! Thank you for sharing my joy! I'm still getting used to the Lindy. It reminds me of the LV speedy that I used to own.

The Dior bags that disintegrated were pastel colors like mink grey and foulard (baby pink). They turned yellow and peeled. I also had a fuschia pink lady Dior that turned yellow despite great care and storage. All my bags were stored in the same room but nothing happened to my Chanels or LVs.. So it was just unfortunate. I'm still a great fan of Dior shoes but I don't buy their bags anymore.

Today is my first day using my Lindy so no food inside yet :p after some time of using the reissue I have tried to stuff a sandwich in but failed haha. My husband told me a new bag is just like a new car... Oh my.

Glad to hear you kept your essential Chanel's and was able to get a lindy as well. I wouldn't have chosen any other way. I want a lindy or birkin as my next bag purchase. Share your lindy! I would love to see it.

I am LOLing at the image of a person walking around with a reissue and a PAPER BAG!!! I agree, find a work bag and still carry that 227. I just got an Alexander McQueen padlock bag for work. While not for everyone, I feel that it fits that in between need of a purse versus a tote. I'd look for something similar - that type of purse/tote.

I'm happy to hear you've decided to keep your reissue! Congrats on your new lindy 30 too! I'd love to see a mod pic as well. I love Chanel but you're right that as a working mother, I don't get to use my flaps and reissues as much as I'd like to. I've been contemplating adding a bolide or GP but a lindy is intriguing.

Congrats on finding a bag that fits your needs functionally and stylistically. I think the Lindy is a cool design and of course H leather is soooo scrumptious. Please post a reveal! :-)
