Should i get an evelyne...?

Hello everyone!
So I did go into the boutique, actually two boutiques , hoping to find a gold evelyne... But neither one of them had gold. I knew I couldn't do black or prunoir which they had, nor blanc or craie. There wasn't an etaine, wasn't any graphite... The only neutral color they had was "sauge" (i guess that's how the French says sage?!), so I asked my SA to bring it out, honestly with very low expectation. However, when I tried it on, I loved it! It was a color I didn't own yet, seemed versatile enough (I was wearing a navy blouse and jeans and it looked perfect!) and wasn't too dark for the hot weather I lived in. So I just brought her home but haven't used it yet. I am not sure whether I will come to love this color or hate it but I will let you know soon! Actually, probably not too soon since it takes me awhile to start using my new bags :-p

The only reason keeping me from buying an Evelyne is the no zipper on top. I don't feel secure carrying a bag that does not have any kind of a closure and that is why I have sold equivalents such as the Chanel GST. Otherwise, this is a fantastic looking bag that I would love to get.

Congrats! I was recently offered a Constance in Sage where I finally got to see it in real life. It is a beautiful neutral and does not do the color swatch any justice. I bet this color is absolutely gorgeous on an evelyn and goes with everything. Hopefully you decide to keep it!

Congrats! I saw a Sauge Evelyne at the store the other day, and it was a great neutral. Great choice!

So...
In my early days of collecting H bags, I would have never considered an evelyne. Today I went into a boutique, looking to order a long canvas strap for my kellys and bolides. And then it occurred to me that I might be able to use the evelyne strap for my bolides. So I asked to try on some of the evelyne straps onto my bolide, and in doing so, came to try on the evelyne on for the first time. And I must admit that I fell in love. The soft bag hung so close to my body and the crossbody canvas strap gave good rest to my tired shoulders! I didn't want to make a decision in haste so I left the store but I keep thinking about the bag!

So if you were me, would you consider getting an evelyne? I have about 20+ birkins and kellys in different sizes. However, my favorite is my gold bolide 31 which I find so comfy. I don't do too well with bright colors - electric blue, feu and rose lipstick are some of my bags that I tend not to use so often. My most used bags are gold, havanne and brique in either a smaller kelly or bolide. But I find myself gravitating towards the amazone orange poppy evelyne, amazone blue saint cyr, and the blue hydra evelyne.
1) Should I get an evelyne? Evelyne users out there, please let me know what the pros and cons are. Especially in comparison to a bolide. 2) If you have similar taste in color as me, and if you have an evelyne, would you recommend getting a neutral color or any of the bright colors above?

Thank you so much for your help!!

I only have a kelly bag as my messenger bag and it's not as comfortable as the evelyn and as accessible so if you are quite the busy person and don't always dress up then I highly recommend an evelyn...But you don't need them in every color just one practical color.

I have a rose sakura evelyne and I honestly bought that bag because of the color. However, I've learned to love how functional and casual it is. Considering that I actually do go to horse riding lessons, it's only appropriate. :p However, I never brought my bag into the barn, 'cause you know how dirty it is and it will quickly ruin the light and soft color.

I'd say if you're usually in casual clothing, then choose a color that's easy to take care of and get one - it's a bag that you can use almost every single day!

Big bug fan of evies, I have four and they are my most used bags. However I live a very casual life and Kelly's & Birkins and other classic bags just don't fit in as well

Suggest you get one in a colour that makes smile & take it from there. I have a collection of fabric art pouches Mona to keep small bits and pieces organized rather than a purse organizer. My phone goes in the big pocket which is very handy.

You can also double up the shoulder strap with a twilly or ribbon, I use matching suede ribbons from Mokuba, and wear the evie tucked under your arm as a shoulder bag. More secure in crowed public places.

Good luck and have fun!

I'm enjoying these opinions ! I am curious about why Epsom doesn't seem that desirable in an Evelyne? My assumption is that it's because it is stiffer because I believe it is a durable and lightweight leather? I'm wanting one too! I had a Clemence GM but sold it because I found it too heavy. I'm stalking the Hermes website for an Epsom in a color I love, but this thread is making me wonder!

I purchased a Vert Bengale resale a couple years ago in Epsom. It is a PM. I am not a fan of Epsom generally BUT it works the best in certain bags, colors and sizes. I like the Epsom because it is a great leather for pops of colors. It also works in the PM size since it small and you don't have to worry about it needing to form to your body. Plus, the structure of the Epsom makes the casualness of the Evie less. I just swap out the canvas strap for a scarf and it is a nice evening handbag due to the structure and size. So never say never to Epsom. Just know what you want it for. It is Hermes and they make bags in Epsom for a reason so No leather from Hermes should be discounted!
