shopping with friends?

I HAVE to be alone. I feel like I can't take my time and look at things when there's someone else with me. I never manage to find anything when my friends or DBF are with me because I focus on them and not the task at hand. Plus I don't like people knowing how much (or how little) I've spent on my things and have to deal with the commentary LOL

Same here. I make less impulse buys when I am by myself. When I want to catch up with friends, we do that over dinner and drinks.

same here. For some reason, none of my friends "get" my thing about purses, fashion magazines/tv shows, celebrity style etc. that sort of thing. They like shopping at the mall's chain stores like Forever 21 (nothing's wrong w/ that b/c a lot of my clothes come from there.) It would be nice to have at least one friend who was a "fashion dreamer" like myself. Sometimes, I go shopping w/ my mom and older sister, both are into this kind of thing, but not as much as me.

Same here too, my friends really dont get it, and they get bored quickly and only go to boring shops! They will not even consider going into a designer boutique! not even to window shop.

I like the term "fashion dreamer" I am definately one of those! Thats one of the reasons I joined TPF, to find people like me who love to shop! :yahoo:

It depends. If I'm at a store where sifting through racks is necessary (like at Marshalls or TJs) I prefer to be alone, or I don't stick with my friend when we do so (since we like different things).

If it's department stores where most of it is browsing instead of searching, then shopping with friends is tons of fun because they'll give suggestions on what would work or what wouldn't. And ideas since I'm always having to buy gifts for people. I'm also lucky I have a friend who understands my handbag thing, she just keeps me in line when it comes to prices. She'll say things like "Save that for when you graduate" or "That isn't practical right now, maybe you can get that later." Then she'll give the thumbs up when it's a proper bag.

yeah definitely. When i go to Tj/marshalls I go by myself since I wanna look for items on clearance =)

I can only shop with my mom..but I prefer to be alone. None of my friends have the same taste as me, so shopping together just isn't fun. My best friend absolutely despises shopping, so after two minutes, she starts to complain.

I like to go shopping by myself when I am looking for something specifically.

Most often I do go shopping with a good friend. She either encourages me to buy something, and she gives me an honest opinion and I need that when I see a sale going on. I can be impulsive! We tend to make a day of it, shopping, lunch, movie, coffee!

I usually prefer to be alone. I can sometimes shop with my mom - after all, she taught me to shop, so we have similar styles! But normally I feel like I am boring other people if I try on clothing or shoes. A day "shopping" with friends usually means meandering through some stores, having lunch and talking and maybe buying a few accessories that I don't need to try on or spend too much time thinking about.

It sounds like tPFers should get together and shop because no one else understands!

I almost always shop alone. None of my friends/family members are obsessed with high-end fashion like I am. I always take my mom to the mall whenever she flies out for a visit, and I go thrift-store shopping with my MIL and SILs. However, when it comes to buying higher-end items, I always shop alone. I'd never hear the end of it if certain family members knew how much I spent on luxury items.

Alone. I'm really eccentric and crazy when I shop. I could walk past a shirt five times then realize I like it. Try it on, Hate it. Picture an outfit, love it. Honestly, I think most SA's think I'm crazy. Its just my thought-process when I shop. I don't want to have to drag someone else through that with me. That's why I only do light shopping with friends. Also, when I enter a store, and there's bad energy or nothing that grabs my eye, I might walk around a bit, but I'll leave within five minutes. I swear I love shopping, but I'm crazy when I do it. Oh, and not to mention I've been known to go to stores three times in one day. Because I regret buying something, didn't look in one department... etc.

Hah, I wish I could shop with my mom... she doesn't like seeing me spend my money on expensive items. Yet she's a shoe-a-holic... but she likes to keep me in line so shopping with her is a no-go. My friends don't understand why I like fashion either. Matter of fact they're mostly in jeans and hoodies all the time.

Am I the only one of my friends that likes to dress up?? AHHH. But anyway, that's why I shop alone. (:

Definately alone. My friends would flip if they saw how much I spend. They also cannot afford to spend as much and I do not want them to feel bad.

ALONE!!! LOL like all the others I hate waiting around for my friend or having someone question my purchase or know how much I spend on something LOL. Most if not all of my friends aren't into the high end stuff.

I know this is going to sound crazy, but I love shopping with my husband. He's not into fashion, but he is my best friend. He always gives me an honest opinion, and I have taught him quite a bit about shoes and bags. He usually picks out 2 or 3 perfectly cute items every few months. I know I'm making it sound like he's homosexual, but I swear, he's straight and just loves me enough to put up with it! :smooch:
