shopping with friends?

I prefer to go luxury shopping with my best friend because she also gets it, and sometimes shopping with a friend feels more fun. Most of the time though on these trips I already known what I'm planning to purchase, so I don't get too suckered into impulse shopping.

For me, if I need to run and get something specific, I like to go myself. But often my friends and I, or my sister in law, make a day of shopping, with breakfast or lunch. We like to get each other's opinions on certain things. They often think of things I don't necessarily. And we have an annual girls holiday shopping trip to a mall about 2 hours from home. It's a great trip. These days are more about bonding and catching up. Sometimes we don't buy anything but have a great day spending time with each other.
@Loriad, agree about bonding & catching up. Buying just adds that special element, but its about
sharing the day & experiencing pleasures with friends & family.

I'm alluding to that a friend asked to go with you to Costco. Whether she buys or not seems irrelevant to me, JMO
You either want to take her or you don't You either want to go the distance or not
But did you tell her you were going or did she ask you?
And why not ask her husband to drive her to your home & pick her up when your
Costco errand is done?
If you prefer shopping ALONE, then perhaps think about who you are having conversations with
about shopping be it Costco or elsewhere, JMO
what do you mean I "always have an explanation"?
no, I didn't tell her specifically I was going any time soon...she is aware I shop there. for some reason which she didn't specify she wants to go there.

I have so much fun shopping with friends. I like to share that time with them and see new things . I’m also happy to give my honest opinion, while keeping in mind their taste which may differ dramatically from mine.

When it comes to buying stuff for myself, I tend to purchase by myself or in a unanimous vote with my trusted SA
and DH (both have great taste, know my closet, and understand what fits and flatters in a more objective, measured fashion than I do. They’re the ones who can tell me, umm, an irresistible , backless apron dress doesn’t really work on many people 😂

Getting a three way vote helps me to avoid regret. And, sometimes a supportive girlfriend or three can be too enabling 😂

I almost always prefer going alone; at times ive had successful days out with friends where we'd go to a shopping district, do our own thing and meet up for lunch/coffee, maybe go to the same store if we both liked a specific brand. This spring however, I found a pair of linen pants I've proceeded to wear every week since, and I might not have found them on my own as I had written off that particular store. So I'm glad I went along with a friend that day.

I mostly prefer shopping on my own-for bespoke clothing and high jewellery Definitely on my own.

Recently I’ve been shopping with my boyfriend, which is also fun, luckily he realises that I have my own “style”, although I have experimented a bit recently.

I also enjoy shopping with my closest girlfriend, who is 30 years younger, and doesn’t wear designer clothes, but enjoys clothes (and collects handbags by the hundred!) shopping just about Everywhere , and would buy clothes on the moon if she were landed there!

I have to be careful when I’m out with her that she doesn’t influence me to buy things which aren’t perfect as I buy designer clothes whilst I’m with her, but we are both attuned to each other’s style (and budget), so our friendship is very strong and we complement each other very well, although I would not be seen dead with a pink furry handbag(!), and she wouldn’t come home with a Saint Laurent jacket!

I only have two girlfriends who will tell me bluntly nope, I don’t like that :D

Listening to someone whose taste you respect say no has almost never yielded a regret

Whereas, shopping alone, when I make decisions quickly, sometimes does. I have taught myself, by not tolerating returns, to be more careful and measured when it comes to advising friends or pondering my own choices.

I’m not exaggerating -she bought a large Juicy Couture bright pink furry bag yesterday and a Zara silver sequin jacket!
We are literally polar opposites, but the best of friends..

Alone, I need time to pick and choose based on my own needs, views and opinions. I do not want to manage other people’s opinions on what they think should fit me, be at a reasonable price point or not etc.

I have to say I really like my partner as a shopping advisor at times though, we are not always favouring the same things stylewise but he has a great eye for fit, proportions and materials.
