I was under the impression that qb are easier to get as a new client? This is my observation only, but it seems like H tries to "hook" new clients by offering them qb at a lower pre-spend.

4:1 as a new client and no qb yet seems...off.

At the end of the day, we know that there is no rhyme or reason unless you are VIP.

Yes. It is a QB. After COVID, I feel like almost all Hermes bags now can no longer be bought just like before..like you see something displayed and you can just purchase it (as long as it's not a QB). Now an SA has to offer it to you.

My friend has been shopping with her particular SA since May 2021 and in the shop since Fall 2020.

Further up the chain, there was someone saying they weren’t offered a qb in 3 years while others have been at 1.5x, so I really think it depends on your SA, your relationship with, plus manager approval. My friend is getting a bit frustrated at the game, about getting a Birkin. I got discouraged early on so have a love/hate for Hermes lol, and ultimately resorted to a reseller. I had asked about the Constance because it honestly seems like her SA is treating it like a qb, since she brought it in and surprised my friend with it in the dressing room, rang her up quickly, and sent her out the back door rather quickly. We hear different things about whether it is considered a QB at SCP so were trying to get information without asking the SA directly..

I think your friend should have a candid conversation with her SA about how far away she is from a Birkin QB offer, as many TPFers have suggested. If she is open to B30, I think she is possibly eligible now.
If B25, I would not consider spending another 1X or 1.5X, if the SA does not express intent to offer one with these additional pre-spend. If any opportunity arises, maybe your friend can chat with SM and politely bring up her desire for QB after being a loyal customer for the boutique for almost 3 years.

Yeah, I think that conversation really needs to be had. I need to convince my friend that it is really OK to ask about it.

It was a mixed experience for first qb, based on inputs from TPFers.
Some were reporting high pre-spend like 4X or more for first qb (in NY/BH), and some reported over 1X for the pre-spend for their first qb. It depends on the spec of qb, relationship with the SA & store, qb inventory, luck, etc.
Do you mind to share what is your prespend for first qb?

Hi, I'm local to SCP but dont have a shot at any bags at that boutique , only have bought some shoes and gifts there. I actually scored an evelyne 29 online at hermes.com! Just took a little stalking the website. Apparently it wouldnt count towards your prespend anyway so might as well try!

Thanks! I've been stalking the website and haven't seen any Evelynes. But I keep looking. This is going to sound blasphemous, but i have no interest in a a quota bag so don't care about any pre spend. Although a Lindy is on my list of wants. I'm about the same distance to BH and SCP and not too much farther to SD, but SCP is the easiest to get to. I miss the days of being able to walk in and get a bag! Have done it before at SCP with an Herbag and in Vegas with my Picotin. Hate the game but love the bags! May have to plan a trip to Vegas as it seems that a non QB may be easier for a walk in to obtain.

Reading this thread is making me wonder if starting an H journey is even worth it! I'm either BH or SCP (I prefer South Coast in general to Rodeo Drive, but I'm in LA County, so I'm theoretically open to either), but it sounds like these stores are just insanely competitive.
