Perfect pieces! Do you wear all three together or mix two pieces at a time?
I have thought about the blue agate in wg, too! Let’s hope they do eventually offer that! I think many of the shades of blue agate would look better in wgThanks so much….I hope the offer more options in WG. I bite the bullet on the SO premium for the RG pieces but I refuse to go down this path as I they to build out wg collection. I wanted the Blue Agate but the SO premium was 6300 before taxes. My SP told me to hold off.
Thank you! Normally I don’t wear more than two Alhambra pieces at a time, but since the Magic pendant is at least a little different than the vintage pieces, I do think I will wear all three sometimes! I just got the Magic pendant in the spring, so I’m just starting to wear the onyx again.Perfect pieces! Do you wear all three together or mix two pieces at a time?
I would love to see more photos of 2 or more pave and alternating stone pieces together. I would like to add two pave and alternating stone bracelets, one at a time, and I need some inspiration during the planning stage. I have looked for photos on IG, but I don’t think I have found the best hashtag to search for VCA pave and alternating stone photos (I seem to find mostly all pave photos).
Agree with this. Mala and lapis would be best together out of options. Otherwise mixing a stone/pave combo with solid gold or all pave. Vca will release more options over time.Hmm, that's an interesting idea. I am not sure any of those would go well together. The onyx/pave is the only one in white gold. The gray mop is the only one in pg and I don't really see it going well with any of the other stone/pave bracelets. The only ones I can sort of see would be lapis and malachite, but considering both of those are more easily scratched, I wouldn't wear them together. The guilloche/pave also would be a little dangerous to wear with another bracelet, but that one obviously could potentially be worn with the malachite or lapis if one was not concerned about scratches. I really feel like all of the stone/pave bracelets would go better with a solid hammered gold bracelet, or an all pave bracelet, or an all matching stone bracelet in the same metal.
I am not a fan of wearing the bracelets as necklaces, except to extend a 10 in which point it is hidden behind the neck. If you want a 10 alternating I would get the malachite 10 pave. The issue with the alternating bracelets is that they are all 3 stones, so as a 10 I think it would look strange. Even matching it breaks the pattern.@DS2006 @lynne_ross
Thank you for your thoughts. I should have explained my thought process more, but it’s very specific and I did not want to get too off topic. I will give a little more background for my specific decision making process.
These options are out of consideration:
- Malachite pave (too delicate to wear as an everyday bracelet)
- Guilloche pave (same)
- GMOP pave (the most practical and versatile option, but I own several GMOP pieces and they personally do not make my heart flutter…I find that the PG brings out the pink and brown undertones, and I strongly dislike warm neutrals on me).
That leaves onyx WG pave and lapis/porcelain YG pave. I would be happy to add any of these.
The issue which causes the debate is that I almost never wear bracelets as bracelets, only as necklace extenders (5+10) or as all-bracelet linked necklaces in the cases where a necklace is impossible (where I cannot buy a 10 or 20). The only bracelet I ever wear as a bracelet is a malachite bracelet that I destroyed, so I can now happily wear it in proximity to hand sanitizer, rain, cooking oils, clanking against a keyboard etc. However, for the pave I want more use options than I would require from an all-stone piece, so I would want to be able to wear it as a bracelet, but also wear it as a necklace. I know the latter is a very unpopular opinion, but I am confident that I would want that option, because I primarily wear necklaces.
So when I say wear them together, I mean as a 5 + 5 necklace, not together as bracelets. As bracelets, I would wear them more rarely and certainly not together at the same time, mostly due to not liking the feeling of flexible bracelets unless fairly loose.
I would not do a special order to get a 10 alternating pave because I don’t love any of the options enough that would be available for SO. The main advantage of the Onyx pave for me is that it would be so worry free that I could wear it comfortably as a bracelet, so I would not choose to SO a 10 Onyx WG pave.
So my options require me to sacrifice something. I can sacrifice the option of having two bracelet options and get two of the same bracelet. That will give me a 5+5 = 10 and a 5 (the second 5 would be to just make the 10). The only practical option is Onyx WG pave for this given my earlier process of elimination. Otherwise, I can sacrifice the option of having a more cohesive 5+5=10 and get one pave/dark stone and one…what? This second option is the one I would prefer to go with, but I have no idea what the second bracelet could be. I was recently borrowing my sister’s pave GMOP PG 5 motif and wearing it with my all GMOP PG and they went together quite well actually. So I do think different bracelets can be worn together as a necklace. I would not really want to SO the all onyx in WG (just not the right combo for me), but I actually really love the GMOP WG SO (all of my disappointment with GMOP and warm hues in PG is completely changed when GMOP is in WG - it brings out the silver in the GMOP and I adore it). However, I’m not sure if onyx WG pave and SO GMOP in WG would be too different. @missie1 posted a photo earlier of her SO WG onyx and her GMOP next to each other and they looked really pretty together! On the other hand, maybe an onyx WG 5 (non-pave) SO or an onyx WG alternating with solid WG/non-pave 5 SO would be ok to wear as a 5+5 necklace with the onyx pave 5 (never wearing as a bracelet), as an alternate option to the 2 matching 5 WG pave (since I would only wear one WG pave as a bracelet anyway).
I just had another idea. I could wait to see if a lapis/porcelain pave 5 comes my way and pair it with my (never worn) blue agate 5. That would be fairly close in shade and had the advantage of already owning the closest all-stone bracelet.
I hope these thoughts make some sense. I know it’s a lot and extremely OT. That’s why I made such a vague request for nice pairings of different bracelets together, but writing it all out definitely helped me to organize my thoughts and priorities.

otherwise I would still go with the lapis and malachite. I think it would be so beautiful layered and not enough stones to worry about ruining. Plus you have mala and blue agate bracelets so many combos!

I wish they would do pave hammered bracelet and 10 motif. This feels like a staple. I am not a fan of guilloche but looooove hammered. Pink mop anything I would buy haha. I hope they release new stones at some point. Maybe just wait and see what is released. What other options do you think VCA will release in pave? I am surprised they do not offer solid metal and pave alternating or white MOP pave. For you, I will hope for pink MOP pave (sans watch) as a future release. I just realized that if I do a pave SO I should just ask for hammered YG alternating with pave. With my preferences and requirements it fits all.
Hi! I think you should do it the other way around. That is, order a 10 oynx pave and then wrap it around your wrist if you ever decide you want a bracelet look.@DS2006 @lynne_ross

I completely agree. A hammered gold and pave line seems like a staple option and I’m sure it would be popular.I wish they would do pave hammered bracelet and 10 motif. This feels like a staple. I am not a fan of guilloche but looooove hammered. Pink mop anything I would buy haha. I hope they release new stones at some point. Maybe just wait and see what is released.
Thank you very much for your thoughts. You always provide a very comprehensive analysis. I actually already have a 5s, 10s and a couple 20s in most of the normal stone offerings. My absolute favorite is alternating stone and metal (I know you are not a fan). I actually purchased the alternating Carnelian and guilloche necklace and bracelet just because I love the alternating so much, even though one of my least favorite stones are Carnelian (though it looks great on my coloring) just because I hate the color red, and PG completely blends into my skin tone (though the guilloche PG will stand out more - I still have not worn them, but I think that stands to reason) and my PG sweet 16 also somehow has more impact than Vintage size PG (I think because there is more detail per mm of PG metal, so there is less “open space” PG to make the eye blend the piece with my skin).Hi! I think you should do it the other way around. That is, order a 10 oynx pave and then wrap it around your wrist if you ever decide you want a bracelet look.
Here is why...
- It seems like you rarely wear bracelets. Hence, I would focus on getting a true 10 necklace.
- A bracelet is 7.5" so two bracelets would be 15". I would buy a 10 and shorten it to 15". You get the same length, but it's a beautiful necklace without any clasp showing.
- You can then wrap if around your wrist like a bracelet, but warning....one loop will end up pulling slightly so you'll end up adjusting it throughout the day. It will also look a bit sloppy and a bit long, not true bracelets (e.g. the Madonna wrapped necklace look). I think for you though, it's okay as you are fine with the eclectic look and you like loose.
I think buying a 10 is the most win-win option. I do think if you focused on an true 10, you will wear it often. As you said in your post, you almost never wear bracelets.
On what necklace, unless you absolutely want alternating pave, I would get an all stone. An all stone necklace to me, will pop far more than alternating. Since you are not against YG, I think the following will really pop, even more so than wearing an all pave 10:
- YG Carnelian - 10 solid red stones... wow, you cannot miss it
- WG/YG MOP - 10 iridescent creamy stones... it will brighten your face and the iridescence will give you that twinkly look of stone variety
- WG/YG oynx - 10 bold harsh black stones... you cannot miss this one either. Oynx is so in your face. It is bold and makes a statement.
Alternating options you already know.
All that said above about dual-use...here is what I would do if this were me...
I know you want versatility, but frankly, that's something SAs suggest to entice/justify us to buy pieces (multi-use, lower cost per wear). It rarely works in real life, not only because of the aesthetic, but because of the length. VCA allows customization on all pieces because a proper fit matters in how pieces look on a person. To me, it's not "one size fits all" in real life.
For me, I would buy a 10, and I would size it to truly fit on your neck and lay properly.
I see photos when two 5s are doubled, and they just lay wrong... too short (strangulation and the person looks like her neck is too fat for that "necklace") or too long (hangs too low so it competes with shirt neckline). For me, multi-use jewelry rarely works, especially the bracelet to necklace conversion.
Finally, if you decide later you want to get a matching bracelet for your 10, that would be an amazing set.
You will be so awesome with that necklace and bracelet in your sweats... casual elegance.
Just my two cents for a another point of view. Hope that helps.
