Hi again, @glamourbag
However, this is for anyone who has a BTF ring that is a bit loose.
I saw a few posts about loose rings and wearing ring sizers, so I wanted to share my recent experience.

I wear my rings loose, almost to the point where I can flick them off if I tried. Well, somehow, the fingers on my right hand shrunk. For my standard closed loop rings, I have been able to resize, but not BTF rings! :annoyed::heart:

I was on an airplane a few months ago, and my Yellow Sapphire Butterfly BTF ring flicked off (I found it on the airplane floor).
After that incident, I have been on a mission to fix my loose BTF ring problem. I have tried a billion ring sizers. Most are either very stiff, too bulky, not comfortable, or simply flat out ugly when worn.

I found the perfect one, at least to me. These are very soft, comortable, and easy to put on/take off.
I have them on my Frivole WG pave BTF and also my Yellow sapphire & diamond pave butterfly BTF.

Here is the link:

As FYI, I used the Small size (1.5mm) and looped it 6 times. I tried to loop it 4 and 5 times, but I like 6 loops the best. I also tried the Medium size (3mm), but I prefer the Small. As FYI, the two BTF ring shanks are both about 3mm, so per the instructions, you could use either the Small or Medium.

Anyway, in case anyone is interested be sure to watch the videos in the above amazon link to get an idea of how this ring sizer works.

Hope this helps.
I do not have a VCA ring yet. Are the BTF rings not able to be resized? My fingers have changed several times over the years with weight gain/loss and hand injury so I immediately blacklist rings that cannot be resized. I would be so sad if the BTF ones cannot because I was hoping to try some on next time I visit my boutique.

Hi! The official answer is no, but I think it is really a "it depends."

VCA officially will not resize a BTF ring, but what they can do is add sizing beads. I've had sizing beads before on a Tiffany ring, and I cannot stand sizing beads. I find them uncomfortable, and equally as important, I find them super ugly. It permanently destroys the beauty and aesthetic of a beautful piece of jewelry. That's just me ofcourse.

Hence, I had the beads removed and decided to resize the Tiffany ring.
Long story short on resizing, I needed a size 6 1/4 in that particular ring as it was very top heavy. I like to keep things pure, therfore, I don't like off-sizes which is why I wanted to keep my Tiffany ring at a standard ring size of 6 1/2. That's why I initially did not want it resized down a quarter-size. However, when I saw how the beads felt and looked after they added them, I had Tiffany remove the beads and resize it to a 6 1/4.

On VCA BTF rings, VCA will add sizing beads, but my guess is if you are super VVVVIP, they will resize for you. Why this assumption?
I told my SA no ugly sizing beads, and my SA went to bat for me to get it resized. It was approved by VCA North America (I live on the US East Coast), but it got shot down by VCA CHQ. I am a regular client, but not a VVVVIP. The fact that they even went to bat for me vs. an initial flat out "no" response implies to me it's possible. It's just not possible for me.

After waiting months for a response from VCA, I was so bummed the final answer was no.
Then... I thought about buying a new BTF ring in a smaller size.
Then... I thought what if my fingers go back to their bigger size. I will always be chasing this problem.
Then... I smacked myself on the head and said to myself "quit being a whiner expecting perfection and deal with it".:heart:
So... I went bonkers and bought tons of ring sizers and decided on the ring sizer I posted earlier. Shocking, but I actually love these ring sizers. They are working out great and can easily be removed.

One last thought (sorry for the long post, I will zip it after this...)
As FYI, if you are considering the Lotus ring, while it is marketed as a BTF ring, it's not truly an open ring. The Lotus ring is a closed ring. My Lotus ring is very loose on me, also by choice as I like my rings to fit loose. However, due to the complicated design of the Lotus ring, it's nearly impossible for that ring to fall off. Just FYI in case you are considering the Lotus ring.

Okay... zipping it...
I do hope you try on BTF rings. I love rings; it is my priority category when it comes to jewelry pieces. Rings add such a glamorous statement to any outfit. Good luck!

Hello unluckily they are not resizable. So better get a on the edge bigger one and buy something to make it smaller in case you need it.
I personally buy rings that are important in terms of budget (Le Noeud) or difficult to resize in plain summer on a canicular day to be sure my fingers are at their biggest size …
VCA told me they have 2 tricks they can use in case your ring is too big (not sure how the cost is…) : one is to put 2 small button (like sphere) on the internal side of the ring at each side so that the internal space is reduced when you wear it. The other one I don’t remember how it was (but there was an option 2 when I discussed for rings and size with an SA … I just have a fulgurant Alzheimer tonight )

Thank you so much for this wealth of information and your personal detailed account. This is just wild to me that they won’t resize. I’ve had a Tiffany engagement ring on my hand 18 years and had it resized twice, for free, perfectly done. Seems like bad business to not do this for VCA customers, but it doesn’t seem like they are hurting for business. 🤷‍♀️ When I start searching for my first VCA ring, I will keep this in mind and perhaps size down to account for fluctuations.

Too quick for me you posted ahead 😛
I also forgot to say that my SA repeated me 3 times at least that « I mustn’t tell anyone » (oups 😝) but they do resize in real 1/2 size by making the gold hot and that does the trick if you are in between 2 sizes …
@Swellgal i also hope you try them. Such beauties cannot stay away from you !!

Thank you, @spaul ! I appreciate your account and information!

Hi! I know this is an old post, but I am trying to catch up (been busy and not on TPF for a while).

Congratulations! The ring is stunning, and I know it will look fabulous on you! It will look great with your WG Clover bangle.
The Frivole WG pave earrings would make a gorgeous set (unless you already bought those too... still catching up on all these post).

Congratulations again! I am so happy for you! :hugs::heart:
We missed you @BigAkoya!!!! I hope you’re well! Yes, finally I got the ring and it’s everything I knew it would be. Actually, I ended up having complete Frivole obsession and also got the five flower pave bracelet (which we’ve discussed on occasion) and the small pave pendant. I couldn’t be happier with them. You’re right… I need the earrings and then I am set. I love them so much, I’d actually like to get the mirror version as well (for a less bling look). We shall see! I seen your recommendations for ring sizers. I agree and I have that style as well!!! The one issue I have with the coil design is they sometimes unwind slightly on the sides (where they get cut), but perhaps the brand in your link do not do that; which would be great. I did find luck using these as well:
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B0D7C7ZFGL?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
They actually tend to wrap around the sides and partway of the bottom of the band which helps to protect from scratches.
Regardless… any time I think of Frivole I’m reminded of your love for it! Glad to see you back!

The information you got from @BigAkoya and @spaul are accurate. I will add that I am in a similar situation as you. At times I can have quite drastic inflammation in the joints/knuckles of the fingers on one of my hands and I was so torn on committing to a btf ring. I was fearful of not being able to enjoy long term and into older age. On a good day I have the same ring size I had when I got married, but during a flare up I can be maybe two sizes bigger especially in the joints. What can make it it extra annoying is I need a size to get over the joint but then its too big for the thinner portion of my finger where the ring sits. What I decided to do was to buy for my biggest finger/joint (which for me is my middle finger on the right hand). That means I could use a sizer when needed to shift the ring from the middle finger to the ring finger on my right hand. Then, and hopefully its never the case, but I can also shift it to my index, middle and ring fingers on my left hand with sizers (although by the time I put it on my left hand ring finger I need a lot of sizer coil).

VCA does not like to resize btf rings as resizing can reposition (even if its ever so slightly) the their design and it may not look exactly how it was intended so they say they cant do it. Some people and jewellers also claim too much resizing affects the integrity of the band/shank/etc. My SA did mention to me that he has seen a couple of the btf rings be approved for very, very small adjustments but I didn't want to risk not being approved if I ever needed to have it done. Instead, I decided clear sizers were the way to go.

Don't take them off your wish list altogether; especially if you have a particular love for one of them! Go a few times (I know stock is low) and get your sizing right. See the largest ring size your largest chosen finger can handle without it falling off or rolling under and maybe even take a new ring sizer coil with you.

Just some suggestions. I hesitated for 3 years and I am so happy I finally said "to heck with it; I am getting it!"

I appreciate this advise so much. Thank you for your wisdom. I like the idea of having it fitted to the middle finger and then I can size it down to the ring finger on a “hot, sausage-finger day” 😆

Yup! I use these too. Very easy and flexible. Lots of sizes to fit any scenario. Let’s face it. Finger size can change. Sometimes the simplest solution is the best.

Love your pieces, and they look great on you!
Since you are now Frivole WG pave obsessed, try on the Very Large pendant on a long chain. I love that look, and I tried it three times. It felt a bit small on me, but that's because I like large pendants when worn on a long chain. Try it and see if you might like it.

On the mirror version, I vote to skip. You already have the pave version, and it is very wearable for everyday. I think you know this, but I wear my pieces with a striped tee and shorts... super casual. Once you have pave and start wearing, it will become part of your look. I think going to mirror is not going to give you that same ear-to-ear-grin. Just a guess.

Then, if no mirror version, what's next? Well, I am not sure if you pieces from the Lotus collection, but if not, I vote Lotus! The ring is a very different look than Frivole.

I definitely see Frivole earrings in your future!
Congratulations again... you have some amazing pieces.

I should have bought yellow gold but I am stuck with rose gold.

Hi! Of the two, I prefer the YG. RG looks coppery to me and not as rich and luxurious as YG. This may be your thought as well by regreting the purchase. I assume you have worn it and cannot exchange it for the YG version.

If that is the case, then plan B...
For me, when I make a mistake and don't love something (and sadly, I have made big mistakes but that's life), I hate looking at it when I wear it as I am constantly reminded of my mistake and wishing I had not purchased it. This is in addition to not loving it, and who needs that type of mental torture. Jewelry is supposed to bring an ear-to-ear grin on your face.

If it were me, I would sell it, cut my losses, and buy the YG version.

RG is still popular now, so I am sure you can sell it at just a slight loss. In the scope of life, losing a few thousand dollars is nothing compared to years of happiness. You will soon forget the financial loss, but you will love your YG Clover everytime you wear it.

Just my two cents, and I hope that helps in your decision.
