Wow the scales are so pronounced! Very different from what I’m used to seeing... such large scales on small bag. Maybe it’s the lights reflecting. Congrats dear she’s Gorgeous!

Yeah the scales look pretty pronounced in this pic I think because of the indoor lighting (pic taken at night). In the other pic I posted in the other thread it is less so. On matte vs. shiny bags the scales also seem more pronounced to me. Also, you can really see the wide range of scale sizes on this bag. I was reading that for alligator the scales are larger in the middle then get smaller as you move out to the sides. And because it is a smaller bag, I think the larger scales definitely seem big in comparison too.

Oh!!? That’s great to hear! Thanks for sharing! Do you Baby it? I usually baby my bags and like to keep them nice if possible so I was a little scared but i feel like it’s a collectors piece too since box is a heritage leather in all ☺️

I didn't baby it per se but I still tried to be mindful when I was using it. However, I've used it many times and so far no issues. I'm more careful with the weight that I put on it than the outer aspect of it

Birkin 25 gris Etain Togo rghw
I passed the bag, but I am crying inside. It’s my dream combo bag. However, the Togo leather is so dry and matte. I just wondering if any of you ladies have experienced or seen that type of leather?
Yes i have seen variations in togo, including sometimes looking dry. It must have been very disappointing but you were right to follow your instincts and pass.

I actually like gator over croc for that reason. I much preferred the larger scales. And on a smaller bag, all those large scales look stunning

Thank you for your response! I actually like Togo leather, cause it is easy going for me with two toddlers. However, I am talking about the bad batch of Togo leather. One of my friend mentioned that her acquaintance turned an offer down in another b25 last week or so because of the leather. I came in to check out the bag and noticed immediately the leather is so off. So I had to turn it down and left quite sad

Why would Hermes release a bad batch of leather :wtf: I was under the impression that they have a serious, rigorous process in terms of leather selection.

I'm glad you turned it down, it shows them that the customers actually value the quality over scoring a B/K simply because they were offered one.

Ahhh that all makes perfect sense. I also understand the scale sizing thing with the variation in my exotic CDC collexn. So interesting to look at each one. Well, I think your bag is incredibly gorgeous and will stand the test of time in your collxn. Although I don't foresee gator or croc bag in my future ... I am dying for lizard (((praying SUPER hard to the H Gods)))) Ombre to be exact =)

PO definitely not at the moment. Remember early this year I was told it was all coming as push offers. I bet in near future we could SO Lizard. But unlikely for Ombré. Heheh back to topic.

If it helps in the future, a matte appearance and dry feel is a characteristic of Togo, not an anomaly. The official Hermes description:

This leather, the result of an intensive drumming process that brings out its natural features, owes its name to the theme of the year of its creation: Africa. It is named after an African country.
First appeared in the collections: 1997
Appearance: Matte; round and irregular grain; veins and wrinkles often visible and very pronounced
Feel: Dry; quite responsive; well-rounded
Hand: Supple and responsive
Change over time: Softens

Oh wow, thank you!!!! Good to know, aside from being dry and matte, the leather was thin too. If it is only just a tad different than what I have in my collection or I’ve seen, I didn’t feel so sad leaving my dream specs bag behind and went home empty handed.

Interesting. You’ll find the right bag soon no doubt!:smile:

I'm glad to read that as I've had almost the same experience but I thought it was maybe my imagination (difference with your experience is that I brought the bag home as I loved the color … ). I was surprised to feel my new Togo K35 retourne vert amande very dry, quite thinner and more matte compared to my few year old Bs. But as it was my first K in Togo , I thought it was probably a normal difference between Ks and Bs.
Yesterday my SA surprised me for Christmas with her offer : a B35 Barenia Faubourg, a Togo B35 RC or a Togo B35 vert rousseau ( I could only take one she said ) . I must say I was pretty much focused on the BF but now that I think about it, I haven't had the feeling of thinness or matte on the B RC, whereas the vert rousseau seemed maybe more matte , but I can't remember precisely as I didn't pay attention at that time.
