We mustn't forget the Trim. There are 2 main types and plenty of variations in-between as well as different sizes. This is a classic UTR bag. The bags were designed in the late 1950s and early '60s respectively and were an Hermes staple, the examples below are from 1973 & 1999

Third is the Verrou, also a reissue of a vintage bag
I don't think the Verrou is a reissue of a vintage bag. It was designed by Pierre-Yves Labey in 2015 when he was still working at Hermès and here's his sketch

Some blog posts and Vogue articles say that it was "first created in 1938" and was "originally designed by Robert Dumas as a clutch bag" but I can't seem to find any pictures. Pierre-Yves usually posts the inspiration for the bags he designs but for the Verrou, he didn't.

I will look this evening for the Vintage pics that I have of the original Verrou and post them. It was originally designed as a clutch. The clasp was modeled after the horse stall locking system.

Also, the vintage trims had a zipper on the front which was later redesigned.

It's def a Deco bag I've seen a original at H exhibitions.

When shopping at H just a couple of years ago, a vintage lover friend commented how cool a lady was for wearing one I had to break it gently it was actually a new reissue.

These LA bags are great totes and again another Hermes dismissal. I think bringing this design back would be awesome.

LOL. offf topic...went to see Lonesome Cowboys starring Ultra Violet. It came out at same time as Midnight Cowboy (1968) and I got the 2 mixed up and went to Lonesome Cowboys. The next weekend the theater was raided and audience all taken to jail in paddy wagon.....glad times have changed.

I love Midight Cowboy. In a similar vein about those times but more about the Verrou. In UV's book Famous for 15 Mins she wrote in NY, all her clothes came from cheaper antique shops and thrift stores. People had chucked all their Art Deco and she, Warhol and others would go hunting for 1930s dresses, suits and other objects. She was of course a muse for Salvador Dali before she met Warhol and that deadbolt on the Verrou is very Surrealist IMO. What I'm saying is I don't think Warhol bought her the bag at Hermes, but more likely bought her one of the originals from the 1930s/'40s from a thrift store and she then took it Hermes to show them the vintage design.
