There is a lot of conflicting information in the thread about leathers.
Some of which I think stems from some dubious published translations.

With regard to the various pig hides, I have a SlG from the recently reintroduced range and the designation on the receipt is simply 'porc' .
The follicles in the skin are quite different between porc and peccary. So, just to be clear, the Bolide was the first handbag Hermès introduced? (I love these little tidbits, so thank you!)

It was a lot bigger than a handbag. I believe it was a travel bag size. In the 1920s ladies 'handbags' were material or beaded for the evening (usually on a metal frame and with a chain) or a small clutch for the day.

Peccary is from South America and 'Porc' is usually from French wild boar (type not necessarily running wild). The smaller the bag, SLG or item, the smaller/younger the animal used to stay within scale. This is true with ostrich and other exotics too.

As an update:
Historically H has used both regular pigskin and peccary so buyer beware and check for that distinct 3-pore pattern.
