**Selling/consigning** with Fashionphile

The tip about filing to BBB if there are issues with FP transactions is spot on. I recently sold a bag and used part of the buyout price to get another bag which was lower in price. I was told by the FP staff at the HQ that I can receive the change as a bank transfer. If she said otherwise, I would have just paid the other bag without using the buyout price. A few days later I saw the amount appear as store credit on my account, so I contacted Client Services. It was very frustrating as she said once processed, they can no longer make changes. That's when I went here to this thread and then saw that filing through BBB can help. To FP's credit, they admitted they made a mistake with the processing and the FP staff at the HQ was correct to begin with. Too bad it had to go through BBB. Not sure how else to escalate beyond Client Services.

This happened to me a few weeks ago. And they told me I was banned from selling to them ever again. It was the weirdest thing. I’ve been selling with them for over 10 years!! I sent them an email and they said they would essentially do me a favor and give me 1 more chance. Insert eye roll. Something weird is definitely going on with them…
Well I made the mistake of thinking they were done with the shady practice of deeming authentic items fake and making you pay a $75 return fee because they changed their minds but I was wrong. I’ve sold probably 100 items to them over the last 10 years and suddenly the last two are fake and I need to pay $75 and I’m banned. I’m done with fashionphile. It’s gone downhill and it’s extremely sad.

That’s so scary! What brands were those? Some brands are more difficult to authenticate.

There are some Chanel bags made between 2018- 2020 extremely difficult to authenticate, newer Prada is always difficult to authenticate, I would ask them to look over the case again, I’m sure they may make mistakes sometimes.😘
I hear you, however it’s more the extreme shift in them “cancelling clients”, $75 return fees and this occurring now twice for me in a few months vs not once in the previous 9 years. In the end clearly it’s a sign fashionphile and I will part ways

I wonder if maybe they are using a machine to authenticate rather than a person? They talked about that maybe close to 1.5 years ago, that tech was going into place that would help with authentication (especially for LV and Chanel) - I wonder if that could be the issue? Regardless, it sucks and the way they treat long term customers is sad.

So what do they do if you dont pay the $75.00? How can they keep property that belongs to someone else?

If you are selling multiple things with the "fake" item and you accept their offer, I heard they will deduct $75 from the total quote they offered you. If the "fake" item is the only item you are selling at the time, I'm not sure how they will make you pay. Good question.

Exactly! Makes me sad too. No idea but I definitely miss how seamless it was to sell to them

In not sure because i just pay the $75 fee immediately because i want my item back asap  But at the bottom of the email they say if its not paid in 60 days it will be “abandoned” and their property to discard.

Oooh wow. So I guess they will keep your item if you don't pay the $75. Interesting. Geez, it's like you end up buying your item BACK for $75!

The same happened to me a few years ago. I've been selling to them for over 10 years. I just checked, and I've sent them 265 items. I sent them a fairly inexpensive Gucci item they determined to be fake. I had purchased it on eBay and I screwed up. I paid my $75 and got it back. I probably should've just "abandoned" it, but it was my mistake. My next submission was unfortunately a high-priced watch that they had offered too high a quote on. When they received it they immediately deemed it to be fake and I had to pay $75 again. And they banned me from selling. The watch was definitely not fake and I authenticated it through another consigner. I emailed and called and finally someone intervened and removed my selling block and waved the $75 fee for the watch. But I'll never sell them another watch. And their quotes have been so bad there's really no reason for me to sell anything to them. 🤷

What happened to you is exactly what I am concerned about. What if they make a mistake they are clearly not perfect. In that case they have kept someones item under false pretenses. In the case where the person does not claim it what happens to it. They've just kept it because they said it was a fake. I am not saying that do this but in that case they could sell the item and make a profit where they have kept something that did not belong to them. It seems very risky on their part especially when they have made mistakes.
