I found the most stunning 1980s Salvatore Ferragamo jacket for $7.50. It is quilted with a tropical print.
Hello, it is so awesome to know that someone out there still loves feraggamo as I do. Today I
Bought a vintage top handle ferragmo handbag.
13 inches in width for 35.00. It is stunning.
Of of course it is going to need some tender
Loving care, but it is going to be beautiful
When I finish. I bought it on Ebay.
Asked questions first. Just don't understand
Why such a beautiful bag was looked over.
Diamond in the rough I say. It was my treasure
To find to have for a life time.

I love Ferragamo and what a great find!

I went to the bins today! I found Prada shoes, Christian Dior scarf, and a Gucci handbag. If I can't get the Gucci cleaned, then I will add flowers. Also, I went to Salvo. I found 2 boxes of Waterford glasses for $20 each, and serviceware for $20. I'm gifting to a friend for her wedding.

Went to the bins, too. They are not as good as yours.

They had three large totes of Stems Luxury tights and leggings 2/$1. I got around 100 pairs. It would have been cheaper if I had paid per pound.

They sell on their site for $38-68 a pack.

Got some Torys, suede pumps and a leather ballet, ton of Lafayette148 dresses and a suit and Marc by Marc Jacobs scarf from other thrifts.

For Bay Area, California thrifters, I copied this interesting post from reddit.

We used to have great thrifting in San Francisco at Goodwill, pre-Covid. After Covid something changed, they went "upscale", started accepting donations at "donation centers" where they went through ALL donations and sold anything worthwhile online. Store prices doubled but there was never anything there anyway.

Also in SoCal, the GoodwillFinds website shut down.

Mass Layoffs at Goodwill SF BAY

Work & Housing

Hey there Bay Area!

If there are any folks who are reporters that are looking for business stories here's one for you...

Goodwill of the San Francisco Bay just laid off a large portion of their workforce, large enough to trigger the WARN act. It included hourly employees and FT employees. It happened today, and I don't know all details yet. More will come out soon. But, in the process they are also closing their 2 HQ offices-- 1 in the City and 1 in Oakland.

This all comes after terrible mismanagement from the previous Executive team that saw the organization hemorrhaging cash to the point where they needed to sell the org off to another out of state Goodwill. The new Goodwill that absorbed Goodwill SF Bay is based out of Arizona. These folks are soulless individuals who have a demonstrated past of absorbing other Goodwill's and laying off all mission based works and services and treating the operation like a for profit retail store, not like the 501(c)3 that all Goodwill's are. Their 1099 can be found online and there you will see the large salaries and bonus structures that the AZ based teams enjoy.

Since the merger there have been multiple smaller rounds of layoffs, new quota based policies that see folks skipping lunches (sometimes unpaid), managers putting ESL employees through harassment trainings with videos going at 2x and in English only, and more.

Additionally-- the career centers that Goodwill SF Bay runs and are paid to do so by the State, County, and City, are being shuttered without a plan to move them elsewhere. Training programs have been cancelled because staff were laid off-- fully funded by State and City dollars! Donations made in the Bay Area are being put in trucks to be sold in Arizona. And that is just the tip of the iceberg.

This should be looked into, and reported on. The grift is real. The way they are doing the community is terrible.

I think I read they are closing the bin store in Oakland.

Just found out that Goodwill will no longer sell jewelry, design shoes or handbags. All items will go the the main office, where they will be placed on their online auction website.
Which Goodwill division is this? They did that in SF Bay Area a while ago. Sometimes I see Coach bags on Shopgoodwill that come from Goodwill SF and I wonder if I could have picked that up for $13 on Fillmore street about 5 years ago.
My stores started selling EVERY quality bag online unless it is damaged. Every.Single.One. Sure the vintage ones are worth a lot. But the mid-2000s Coach bags like the Kristin are not worth selling online with the administrative overhead and fees. Since they sell everything online, it isn't worth going to the stores anymore.

I wish I could see a dollar breakdown of how much Goodwill makes pulling items to sell online vs just putting everything in stores like they used to. The stores aren't worthwhile.
My stores also removed the shopping carts because they wanted a "boutique experience". Really, really bad mgmt - explains why they are now part of Goodwill Arizona.
