Seeking advice .... is this a safe way to store my scarves? They are folded the way they come from H, then folded in half again and layered in a fabric covered storage box that is lined with H tissue paper. This box lives uncovered in a dark closet, with my clothes (space is very limited). I want to keep them happy and healthy for the long term, while keeping them visible as I assemble outfits. Thoughts?

Whether your beautiful scarves stay happy & healthy in this storage arrangement depends on your climate. If you live in a humid environment, you risk mildew issues storing them tightly packed in a dark closet without humidity control. For a temperate climate, this is fine, but I’d make sure that the tissue paper is acid-free, and change it annually.

Plus they're easier to see! :flowers:
Indeed!

Seems fine. That’s how I store mine, but mine are layered more horizontally in drawers, vs. yours are more ‘standing up.’
I would like them lying flatter and not "standing up". I'll have to find a couple of shallower boxes that I can stack.

I live in a temperate climate, so no issues hopefully. I assume that H's tissue paper is acid free ... if anyone knows for sure, please chime in!

I don’t know for sure, but would bet that the tissue paper that comes with the Hermès box is just wrapping quality. What you want is acid-free, buffered archival quality tissue paper. It is readily available online, and is not expensive. Worth it to protect your investment!

I was told it was by an SA, but others are right that it is not expensive to get the kind that it definitely is acid free.

As for keeping scarves flat, some places sell smaller sets of ‘drawers’ (around the size of the box you have now) that might work. I also found that there are a lot of woodworkers / carpenters on places like Etsy who would be delighted to have a custom order to fit your needs.

Oh, good to know! I'll seek some out.

Good idea to look on Etsy. I did a quick look around online at major retailers and didn't see anything with drawers that seemed like it would work. I'm open to the idea of just stacking some shallow boxes too.

Has anyone tried storing their scarves in MUJI’s PP stackable drawers?

They come in various widths, heights and depths, including a fairly slim version which appears ideal.
As my collection grows (and grows, and grows...), it is becoming very cumbersome to open every single box to find out what’s inside and it’s unfair on the ones at the bottom of the piles who never get to see the light of day...

I see the appeal of these boxes, but I would not recommend plastic — the scarves don’t breathe in it, which it not ideal. I also believe that the offgases plastics emit as they degrade would be damaging to the silk.

I didn't think about breathing. I must find another solution for my scarves.
