Yes, that was our very first thread and as the only original contributer to that thread who is still posting today, I am very saddened and I'll leave it at that.

Back to topic, posting these asian theme CSGMs from my archives:

Beautiful shawl collection seton.

This scarf is not what I am wearing today, but it is well on theme of this week: Daimyo Princes du Soleil Levant. Pictures from long-ago-archive! I think this color way of Daimo has not been posted yet.

Pirula, frou frou, Pocketbook Pup - I am glad you appreciate the link!

Wow, Holsby -- I've been stalking my Daimyo for awhile and I've never even SEEN this colorway. Beautiful blues, thanks!

Another Ex Libris en Kimonos , twins with a couple of you , ABQ2ATL has recently found one ,yay!
It was the one for me with the red accents on the border, jade hem,and cobalt .

And there's turquoise, too! I also adore the coral red border and jade hem, frou frou -- and this bird is much calmer-looking to me than the scary-eyed ones in bright colors. ;o)

I'm off theme but this is my scarf of the day. Pegase. View attachment 3277441
I've just finished scrolling through the last 12 hours or so of posts, and am taken aback a bit by the boundary setting that I see taking place. For those of you who might have been exposed to a 12-step program, it reminds me of the times when the old-timers chastised the "newbies" for going "outside the book".

I can understand wanting to keep discussions on storage and the like separate from the SOTD theme. However, there are those among us who are HS lovers but, either by virtue of our "newbie" status or financial limitations, don't have "fifty-two" (or more) flavors in our arsenals to make the weekly cut. It would be a shame to limit these folks' participation in the process to those weeks when they can be wearing on theme.

I "grew up" in the fashion blogosphere in the early 90's through the alt.fashion newsgroup "what are you wearing today" thread and later as moderator "UptwnGuy" on AOL's StyleChannel blog. I enjoyed those "wild and woolly" times when the personalities of the posters were as vibrant as the outfits they described. That libertarianism (or, perhaps bohemianism to some) was part of the joie de vivre of the time, and I miss it. Let's not let ourselves get bogged town in Purse Forum Political Correctness. The times, they are a changin'.

Respectfully,

John in DFW

If you've read through the past pages then you may have also seen that this has been resolved. Again, if anyone wants to PM me to discuss further I am happy to do so. I will say again that I intervened because I was asked to by members who disliked the direction of the thread as it is stated, which is why moderators step in.

Sorry mistikat. I just wanted to respond to someone else's request. For penance, here is the faux Asian scarf which I am wearing today. This version does not have the Carolina opera printed on it so I believe it is the original issue.

Beautiful!

My SOTD is the special edition Le Monde este Vaste - somewhere on this brightly colored map must be Japan?

My feeling is that the thread welcomes people to post what you are wearing for the day, days, or past few days, etc. whether on theme or no. Some people can't post everyday but want to share their silks and outfits. I like seeing the scarves flat and worn, and I try to do that so people get a chance to see scarves in action.

Misti is just letting people know there are other threads to handle off topic discussions like storage and I think there is a topic for knot tying etc. From my recollection, this thread was originated by the lovely Rose back before I was a member (2007)! Let's keep this positive and everyone is very kind and supportive.
I have been eyeing this design for awhile. Love the map!

My SOTD: CSGM Ex Libris en Kimonos (on theme!) with cotton cardigan from Gap.
Do you like it better tucked in or hanging out?
I like them both!

Wow, love the blues in this one!

So am I.

These are beautiful Seton. That's not a cw of Kimonos I immediately recognize. Do you by any chance have more pics of it please?

And Art des Steppes! Wow! That's really beautiful. [emoji173]️

Thank you for the lovely comments .
Lanit, the mousseline I picture you in is the delicate brown, blue and white : could it be in your future??

frou frou, that one was pierina's; I know because the remains of the screen licking are still evident on my computer, LOL! Yeah, I could do some cleaning around here, but I'd rather look at silks
