17 Jan 2016 GO-TO OR TO-GO KNOTS: the knots you can count on to look great

This week let’s all regard the knot—
Show us the ones you wear a lot.
Got a favorite? Let us see!
(Will your favorite work for me?)

We want the knots you think are easy—
Something fresh and young and breezy.
(How simple is it? For a lark
Tie your carré in the dark.)

Do you have a favorite tie?
I like mine low, not very high—
Can’t stand the feeling of a noose,
To maintain calm, I want it loose.

ARGGGGHHH!

Whatever way my scarf is tied,
I like the knot pulled to the side.
But that’s just me—it’s surely true
This style may not be one for you.

Sometimes when the weather’s chilly
Try a knot that’s kind of frilly.
When you’re in the summer heat
Tie scarves looser, not so neat.

Although I've already announced the Scarf Week theme, I want to briefly revisit Dimitri Week and give a shoutout to the lovely scarf-in-action pictures. (Lots of pages without pix, though -- :shrugs: but conversation is good too) The most popular scarf seemed to be Minuit au Faubourg (Super H), but we did accumulate a lot of nice pictures of Dimitri designs.
Special props to Seton, Croisette, atomic and Cherryblossum for their swell collections, but we all enjoyed seeing bunnycat, Pirula, Pocketbook Pup, Maedi, lanit, JRTgal, hermesguy John, scarf1 (headless!) lyseiki, Joannadyne, BJS, Bova, momasaurus, and kat99's wall! (And thanx also to Myrkur, EL4B, Kyokei, weibandy, birkin10600 for sharing their lovely non-Dimitri designs.
And finally...:woohoo: to Chris for giving us a view of the fabulous H sale in Paris! You look very handsome in your ZP, Chris, and we're looking forward to seeing you in your beautiful new carres! Thanks for sharing, everyone!

Totally off topic for SOTD, but here is my SOTD to enable those looking at the SS2016 designs...Savannah Dance, pleated and secured with a Maitai scarf ring. I am especially loving this CW with a darkish gray top :D

how lovely that Kyokei and abq2atl got to meet! Loved that picture! The fact that it was serendipity, in what has to be one of the busiest H boutiques in the world, makes it all the more special!

So since Savana Dance is a favorite of mine this season, which one did you get abq2atl?

Bova has the peachy circles with the red border -- I bought the one I'm wearing with Kyokei; cw 01 white/sky blue/green with a white center. The center doesn't really show and it's not that easy to get much leopard in the tie (DH tried very hard). OTOH, the border is spectacular and has a very southwestern look to me (although the blue circles do look a little like eyeballs) I think I like it a lot, but it's still got the tag on in case I change my mind.

Wow, this looks amazing kat99, my DH keeps telling me we need the scarf hanging system to showcase all of these gorgeous scarves...hmmm:thinkin:

So let me say this about the "fixation kit" (as H calls it). A few years ago the kit was $320 and I got one for myself for Christmas. It's now almost twice that for no apparent reason. There's an old thread called "Ode to my Fixation" with some excellent information from BritAbroad at the end on how to DIY: http://forum.purseblog.com/hermes-clubhouse/ode-to-my-fixation-425619-7.html
Personally, I use my H system all the time to take scarf photos (and decorate my office), but I didn't put up the permanent posts. I use plain old push pins so I can move them to fit 70s as well as 90s. It's not elegant for a livingroom display, but it's nice to be able to adjust the posts to allow for slight differences in scarf sizes. (The vintage scarves are stretchier and don't stay quite as square if you pull them too tight.) If you do want to use the posts, I suggest working with the push pins first to decide the final placement of the posts.
Luckily you get 5 of the spring-and-magnet grippers, because if one slips off while you're hanging the scarf, it can sail and bounce quite a distance before you realize which way it went. I go find it of course, but it's nice to have a spare so you can get your photo taken before you have to get down on your hands and knees with a flashlight to search behind the furniture!

Thank you so much seton!

Before the week is out I should share my Dimitris: Sous le cedre and Peinture fraiche.
Both so great on you momasaurus...and I love the way you tied Sous le Cedre, très chic!

Oh thank you so much for your input abq2atl, the prohibitive price of the scarf hanging system is what stops me everytime I consider it...plus, I measure all purchases now in "scarf terms"...i.e. "I can buy this sweater (insert any retail item here), which I don't really need...or this money can go towards a scarf purchase...hmmm..." Not surprisingly the scarf always wins lol!! :graucho:

I received my two scarves in the mail. I'm going to model the keeper- trocadero jazz band. I love it. The shawl I ordered is going back. It was black and white ombré des boulevards. It's lovely but against my very pale skin the off white just looks a bit washed out. I think I'll wait for a better black and white for me. [emoji20]
