Hello scarfies! Just in the nick of time I have a jewelry scarves post, featuring two dear TPF friends, Chestnutty and Arabesques. It's a long one.

Last week my long-time SO and I finally tied the knot, and what better occasion than to tie some scarf knots as well? I've never wanted a wedding proper, so we decided to keep it simple with a city hall ceremony in NYC. Arabesques and a friend I've known since we were 9 years old were our official witnesses.

But not just witnesses! Multi-talented, highly artistic witnesses. My childhood friend, an architect, has a gift for structuring any material she lays hands on, and surprised me with a gorgeous bouquet of her own making. Arabesques, as anyone who has seen her posts here or her blog knows, is an exceptional photographer, and she made sure I had the most beautiful pictures with which to remember the day.

My two friends' artistry was all the more remarkable considering the short notice they had: on Friday the week before last we decided to get married the following Wednesday-- no, no shotgun wielded by my father; just the complications of an international long-distance romance! On Friday I had no idea what I was going to wear, but I knew a white mousseline Au Portes du Palais I had bought might arrive just in the nick of time... but then again, it might not. I mentioned this to Chestnutty-- whose own white APdP had fueled my search for one-- and she instantly offered not only to send me her own beloved white moussie, but also her heavenly white, pale blue, and light grey Doigts de Fee-- a wedding scarf if ever there were one, with its pearls and lace motif. I demurred on her unbelievably generous offer to lend her APdP, because I knew I'd be thrilled to wear the Doigts. She raced to the post and got it on its way immediately-- outstanding scarf emergency response time! I set about choosing an outfit that would work with the Doigts and chose a white Alexander McQueen coat dress (inspired in part by a recent trip to the London exhibition of his work, with another fabulous TPF friend).

The Doigts arrived in the mail. Then the APDP landed too! And then my fiancé gave me a beautiful pair of red patent stilettos to match the Rouge Vif Kelly he gave me as a 30th birthday present years ago. The red picked up the colors in the APdP perfectly.... but I couldn't forget the feminine beauty of that Doigts, and its being a "something borrowed" from someone special. So I did what any sensible scarfie would do: I resolved to wear BOTH. :groucho:

In the morning/early afternoon, it was the APdP. And then in the evening, it was the Doigts with a pale pink and silver Sita Murt dress. The pink, pale blue, silver and grey made me feel very princess-y.

So, without further ado, two very special scarves that are both from Chestnutty whether directly or by her influence, and some photographs from the amazing Arabesques showing the evolution of the look over the day. The APdP went from tucked in to flying in the wind and then transformed into the Doigts draped to try to show as much of its pearls and lace as possible. And, just for good measure, a picture of the groom showing off his Hermes shoes but more significantly an important Hermes scarf skill: waiting in the boutique for Arabesques and me while we browsed in between champagne bars!

Whew, thanks for letting me share. I'm so lucky to know so many of you around the world, and this day made me extra-grateful for that! :flowers:View attachment 3030567View attachment 3030568View attachment 3030569View attachment 3030570View attachment 3030571

Calexandre So so happy for you , and you are THE most beautiful bride !

The white and red with AP de P is a stroke of genius only a H wizard like you could imagine .
It's all too perfect for words:heart::queen:: my take on weddings is like yours , best leave the usual shenanigans to those who like it , we decided and married within 4 days with just 2 witnesses .
Chestnutty was so kind . How lovely that you wore her blue D de F , do show us some photos of that outfit too.
Hope to see you soon Mrs. C !

Congratulations! This is the most special tpf post ever. You look amazing. I can see the excitement and happiness in your pose. Just perfection. So sophisticated. And so many sweet friends to add to your joy. Your hubby is so dapper.

(I too had a small wedding and passed on the big white poofy dress in favor of a little chanel and a cocktail party for friends.)

Wishing you all the very best. Thank you so much for sharing with us.

Your story and the lovely tpfer role brought tears to my eyes. Congrats! So happy for you

This thread is so creative , I love the new ideas springing forth especially when they enable me to wear some silks that I haven't been wearing of late .

So, a huge thank you to clever Bunnycat I'm loving your recent twist on a gavroche knot. it displays the small silk to its best IMO.
My 2 Belles de Mexique gavroches have always been my favourite in this size . This one in Mastique [ which I take as being 'putty ' …not v appealing!] is my out and out fave and most worn .
I reckon this is scarf as jewellery when knotted the Bunnycat way !
I wore this rig-out last night for dinner with friends

Oh wonderful frou frou!!! Belles is a favorite of mine also. I keep looking hoping to find a twilly of it in just the right CW. :p

Bunnycat This petite mousseline is just perfect on you , I love the whole look .
I have my eye on getting some dungarees , this is look is too enabling !
Only thing stopping me from grabbing a pair is that I wore them first time round :shucks: so don't want a hit on the mutton meter ;)

Thank you frou frou! I hear you on the dungarees (overalls over here). I'm nearing the biggie mile marker and have spent several years now trying to "reinvent" my styling. My lifestyle is extremely casual (I work from home) and so things like this generally work for me whereas "standard work attire" (button downs with skirt/slacks and so forth) makes me look frumpy and out of place. I wore overalls last time as well (because I love them, and most jeans don't fit me right so this is one of my few shots at getting to wear jeans) so I try to make them more "grown up" by keeping the rest of it classic or a little dressy/edgy (classic stripey tee, scarf), maybe a jacket with the sleeves rolled up, edgy shoes, not sneakers (unless I go "French" and wear my Converse!). :D

Bunnycat That's all I needed , just ordered a pair. I' ve been very good at restraining myself from going for a pair a crepe city shorts [ who wants to see my sticklike old pins?] but I'm damn well having those overalls :roflmfao:

.
JetSetGo, thank you! And your TAPIS is absolutely superb on you!

Thank you!

Oh that scarf looks gorgeous, so lovely to see it modelled by you. But where is Toro?

Oh, how I wish I could bring him to work... though I'd surely get nothing done! Thank you for your sweetness.

JETsETgo Replay as often as you can , I so love this Tapis on you .
The theme is meant to be broken :graucho:

Thank you, frou frou!

And, just for good measure, a picture of the groom showing off his Hermes shoes but more significantly an important Hermes scarf skill: waiting in the boutique for Arabesques and me while we browsed in between visits to champagne bars!

Whew, thanks for letting me share. I'm so lucky to know so many of you around the world, and this day made me extra-grateful for that! :flowers:View attachment 3030567View attachment 3030568View attachment 3030569View attachment 3030570View attachment 3030571

Such a fabulous story and beautiful pictures! Massive congratulations, Calexandre!:heart:

Hello scarfies! Just in the nick of time I have a jewelry scarves post, featuring two dear TPF friends, Chestnutty and Arabesques. It's a long one.
