I don't do yellow and brown, so those 2 don't appeal to me.
Mors et gourmettes remix.
Here is my least- loved scarf. I bought It early on, encouraged by DH and SA. Although DH now says it is his least favorite scarf of mine also. I think I may have worn it once.
For me, the colors just feel too bright. I can easily imagine this scarf on some of the other ladies here.
@Joannadyne and maybe @Cordeliere

After I bought this, I later bought the same design in the ciel/ blue CW, and have worn that one a lot!

Is it possible to tire of an H scarf quickly? I eagerly awaited SS2017 and had a long list  including Brides Fleuries. Then this cw popped up very early in my boutique! I bought it thinking it fills a "colour gap" in my collection. My lesson learned is I should stick to my favourite colours. I'm keeping it anyway. View attachment 3890566
Interesting. I tried this one on, as well as the royal blue CW. I find this CW beautiful. But when it tried on the other CW, the blue CW looked so much better on me.

I have a few scarves that I bought when I thought I should broaden my colors as well. Not ready to let any go, but I know some of them are not my best colors...

Thank you, eagle10002us. I'm not sure I could repeat this look if I tried. It was bias fold, slide on bolduc , tie behind neck.

And thank you for your lovely compliment. I choose to be happy no matter what. My marriage helps me stick to that, in spite of circumstances such as those of this week. (Half our chicken flock slaughtered Wednesday night, then the need to take our cat to vet ER Friday night. Cat will likely have surgery tomorrow.)
Did you have a fox invade the premises? Friend of mine who has had chickens had a fox. If I remember correctly, they took 'em all out. I'm not sure she went back into chickens. Nature can be really rough.

26 November 2017 WHAT WAS I THINKING? The scarf you just don’t like to wearput it on for advice on whether to keep or re-home it

This is a new theme -- I thought it might be fun to talk about fails instead of triumphs for a change. I think we all have scarves that we pick up from time to time and just put back in the drawer because they don't "spark joy" (as Marie Kondo, the cleaning guru, would say). This week I'll show my "Bottom Five," or if you prefer, my "Top Five Unlkeables."

I'll show you the scarf and share what I was thinking when I got it, then tell you what bugs me and what I learned from making myself try it on.
(Comment if you like, but it's not essential.)
Here we go:
Carrosserie by Philippe Ledoux [1976]
One of my early acquisitions for which I paid too much, reasoning that it was a "collectable." The silk is thick and rich and it feels wonderful. The flat photo shows mostly the center of the scarf so you can see the detail (and title)View attachment 3890540 I love the brown, but this shade of yellow doesn't do me any favors -- it actually scared me off yellow at all for several years.

Couvee d'Hermes by Cathy Latham [1994]
I bought this one because of the detail on the eggs -- I love going through an artist's work and finding which scarf each design came from. I haven't done it with this one because it's not all Cathy Latham, so it's really difficult. The eggs are a little too large to show very many of them and the brown border is a bit wider than I'd like.

The brown top hides the brown border a little better but the light green top is surprisingly nice with the scarf. This is a prettier shade of yellow for me than Carrosserie -- the peachy shades look considerably better on me. I guess I might wear this one after all (maybe at Easter, though the colors aren't very spring-like).

Lesson learned: Brown and yellow scarves don't really make me very happy. Your turn.

This is dreadful but I am twins with you on both of these. I didn't pay too much for them (my wallet thanks me) but I rarely reach for them. I bought Carrosserie because I liked the whirlpool effect, and Couvees because it was a cute design. Will probably release them into the wild if I buy another cw that suits me better. That said, I haven't encountered Carrosserie in another cw yet.

..

Thanks, scarf1, litchi, and xincinsin -- you have all made good points about how scarf mistakes happen.
1) WRONG COLOR: choosing a scarf "encouraged by" a loved one or based on a need to "broaden the collection." A different colorway may solve the problem when a scarf doesn't "feel" or look right.
2) WRONG DESIGN: usually just one that doesn't hold your interest -- maybe because the colorway wasn't part of the decision so it's not as flattering as you hoped. Or it could also be a designer or theme that's just not "you" -- we see that some theme weeks are more popular than others.

I have to laugh with xincinsin, though -- how often do we find "bad choice" twins? :yucky:

Surprisingly both are absolutely wearble and loveable for me
I am with @ABQ2ATL on yellow "no-go", too much of green is not my story either, and very careful with browns, both shade and amount wise.
Luckily i know my colours and didn't make any mistakes i would regret, all my scarves are worn, more or less, and i am happy to learn on somebody else's mistakes

I have done the same thing: bought some scarves to broaden my color choices and the conclusion is to stick with my colors :)

I mostly don't do brown and for yellow it definitely depends on the yellow. I really like the Couvee with the contrasting shirt. Are there other deeper colors from the eggs you could bring out?

I totally get this. I love that pink, but man, it is very bright (and perfect in a lipstick!), but I know I wouldn't be able to pull off that much bright deep pink on my person. It is a hard color to wear. Darker skintones perhaps, but pale me, noooope. I had a Fleurs et Papillons twilly in similar colors and it looked terrible on me so I sold it.

I can see this too. Teal is also a tricky color. It's a pretty scarf, but that's a lot of teal to carry off!

I bet there's a great story behind this...wonderful that you are wearing a scarf that is 50 years old! It looks great.
i am sure this piece of silk has got a lot to tell, if only it could... but i got it very recently, it's my lucky find and i hope with me it will have another half of a century to live and get some more history on board :hbeat:
thank you :ty:

I promise I will contribute this week, when I have time to take pix. This is a great topic, and I will be asking for help.
As to these scarves, I agree: the colors don't work, but I love both designs. I hope you eventually found replacements?
