Elaine, that sounds like a very interesting and also demanding field. Did you enjoy your work? Folklore did come out in a 90 cm carré (just ask Ladybaga :p:p)

Arabesques, those are lovely Maxi Twillys. The colors are vibrant and you wear them beautifully. On me, they are not such a hit.

Sparkle, you look gorgeous and I am jealous on your Jigé. I am with you on the Maxi Twillys. They are okay for me but H has better options for me. I don't like the material that much either, however, they do look great on others.

Vitamina, your scarves are so pretty.

Cherryblossom, thank you.

You're right, maedi... it was both interesting (fascinating, actually) and very demanding, both physically and emotionally. It was also the most important and rewarding work I've done. I was honored to have the chance to work in this field, and to help (a bit).

I saw a couple of examples of Folklore 90cm on reseller sites... no CW that interested me. Whew! My wishlist is already too long! It is a fabulous design. To me, it looks like the artwork from the Pacific Northwest... tribes like the Haida and the Athabascans. But I couldn't find out much about it.

Oh my goodness! I'm your cousin on Carré En Carré DD!!! You are right, dear moma! How absentminded I am! I should mind my own bussiness! :p:
Since my Carré En Carré dip dye has been assigned to another duty, :giggles:today, I contribute Concours d'Étriers 140cm carré géant Sur teint. 08 bleu canard/vert/prune

It is a beautiful color for you, dear cherryblossum, and it look so smart with your striped jacket!

Thanks, Elaine. It's from 1951! I don't think there were reissues. I hunted quite a long time for this one on the 'Bay. It comes along now and then in this or other CWs.

We talked about it here a while back (maybe I posted it during green week), noting that it has the most gigantic border of any scarf ever! lol. Anyway, the corners and the detailed drawings are so adorable.
Imagine having a scarf from 1951! How exciting! It looks as though it's in very good shape. And yet there is so much white in it! When it arrived from the reseller, did you need to have it dry-cleaned?

Here's my small collection (2!) of Charmante aux Animaux scarves, which I posted pix of last week tied together.

As you can see, it's not at all obvious that combining them would be so stunning.

Those look so terrific together, musicmom... I think it's because there's some blue in the red CW scarf. Or maybe because the red scarf is a "blue" red. Or maybe it's just the Hermès magic at work!:smile1:

Charmante aux Animaux is on my Wish List... some day! You picked two gorgeous CWs. And you wear them beautifully.

How about a "collection" of Samurai swords? Daimyo, in the gold & black CW. I'm wearing the scarf against a navy tee, so the scarf has taken on a bit of a navy cast, but it is a true, deep black. And if you look closely, you can see the jacquard ginkgo leaves!

The first photo is courtesy of dear arabesques, whose knot I tried (tried!:giggles:) to copy. Thank you, my friend! If I keep practicing, I might just make it look as pretty as yours! My personal favorite is the third knot, since it makes the two cranes in the center visible.

Lovely pattern placement Elaine PG! Especially the second and third- so pretty!!!

Hello! It's been a busy summer and suddenly I'm 120 pages behind....but thank you all in advance for the gorgeousness that awaits!!!

Off topic here but the weather is cooler at last and the the new New Libris stole had a first outing today. The color is lighter and warmer IRL, #78 Marine. I could live in this navy, it's perfect. There's more cashmere in these stoles too. :graucho:

Back this weekend with something pink for our most worthy theme week. :D

ElainePG, thank you! You are so sweet and kind! I have enjoyed reading your posts so much. :smile1: If you do add a Bateaux to your collection, I know you will love it! I do understand about the constantly growing list. UHH. I think my DH has just learned to tune me out when he hears the words H..silk...scarf..!ha!!

Thank you so much, Vitamina H! I'm so glad I found this thread... I'm learning so much. I agree with you about Bateaux... it's just such an interesting "design surprise" that the boats are bordered with those lovely flowers and birds.

Oh, the "wish list" problem. So far, DH hasn't tuned me out (yet)... but I try not to say "scarf" too many times in a day!:p

Oh my little sprite at 5 foot nothin' on a good day---that made me laugh! You are going to be in trubs when you see the new Voyages. But honestly, I think the first edition releases have better colorways. This is one of my all time favorite shawls and I have two cws, which is VERY luxurious for me. We are distant cousins on the other Kimonos scarf to which you refer.

Thank you, sparklelisab... that's very good to know! I'll put the first edition on my ever-growing Wish List, and then just be patient. For me, it is always color over design. (I mean, I have to love the design, obviously, but CW comes first.) So I may be waiting quite some time for a first-edition Voyages... but, oh, the excitement when I finally find the right one! :hbeat:

I had a feeling you owned Kimonos et Inros. :smile1: I see that a future theme is scarves from other cultures/other lands. That's when I'll post mine!

Melora- I love Colliers de Chien twilly! I think that's the one I want next. And I super love the matching earrings too! Nice!

Here I am channeling arabeques' stripe shirt post from the other day with my second knot attempt. I decided to go straight for the throat, LOL. It's BdG again since that's my only carre right now, and luckily fit this weeks theme. It looks complex maybe but it's not a hard knot and supposedly is better for smaller squares. I can see how that might be. It's called a flower knot. I couldn't resist that. I was aiming for Brides to be in front again, and got it (YAY!) with a tiny bit of fussing. I was afraid the pattern would be too big to make the flower work, but I think it still looks nice.

Here the link I got the instructions from, in case anyone is interested:

bunnycat! Look at you, with your flower knot! You did a fabulous job with it, and I'm super impressed that you got the "Brides" smack-dab in the center of the flower. Brava!

I haven't attempted this knot yet, but when the weather cools down I'll give it a try. I've watched Mai Tai demonstrate the knot any number of times, but since she shows it on a pochette, I always worried that on a 90cm it would sort of fall apart. But obviously, looking at yours, it does nothing of the sort... it's perfect! It reminds me of a peony in August, when they grow very large and they open up full. :smile1:

Thank you so much ElainePG; I was hoping you'd drop in today! The flower wasn't hard to do, but with the larger square, the flower needed a little more support so instead of ending in back I wrapped the ends around to the front and tied them under the flower, which seemed to help the weight distribution a bit. I can't wait to see you do one!
