Ladies! I am so sorry I have been remiss in keeping up with the thread the last couple of days--especially since this looks likes being my favorite theme week EVER! I have absolutely loved seeing each and every one of your scarf pairings, and will try to catch up later today with comments. Before I rush out the door, though, I wanted to quickly post this morning's experimentation.

The scarves are Passementerie and Naissance d'une Idee. Here are a few braids and weaves. I loved this combination and will definitely return to it in the future--the colors make me so happy!

(I apologize for the poor quality--it is a very dark day here, and the iPhone didn't like the light levels, leading me to do some weird acrobatics to keep the colors from washing out completely, which in turn gave a distorted perspective to some of the photos. My bustline looks one meter long. :D)

Wishing you a beautiful weekend--check in again soon--

Rosamonde

Wonderful color combination, as usual, rosamonde. And I especially love your second twist-and-braid... I even think I can figure out how to do it!:D

Naissance d'une Idee is a new design to me. Doubling it up with Passementerie gives it an entirely new look, doesn't it? You'd never know that the original design is a circle!

Today I decided to see if I could follow momasaurus's example from the other day and incorporate Ex Libris en Kimonos into a pairing. She paired it (to beautiful effect) with Qalamdan, but I don't own anything quite as geometrical. Instead, I decided to find another scarf in my collection that would bring out the blues in my CW of Ex Libris.

Here is the end result: Ex Libris en Kimonos + Chiens au Rapport. Just a simple bias fold of each, then loosely twisted together and held with one of Mai Tai's shawl rings. I was very pleased that I got part of the "crane" to appear in Ex Libris... but I assure you that it was purely accidental!;)

Good question, cherryblossum! It was Lumières de Paris, by Natsuno Hidaka, a 2006 issue. I found it in a local consignment shop just a few months ago, at an incredibly good price, and fell in love with it. I honestly prefer the older designs to the newer ones (Lumières is something of an exception for me), so I've been hunting on all the trustworthy reseller websites ever since!

Here is the scarf that "brought me back"... I apologize that the picture is not very good. I am still learning how to take pictures of my collection. What I like about this scarf is that it reminds me of the stained glass windows you see in the old Paris churches.

Oh Lordy Elaine, this is my most beautiful scarf and I have never seen this colorway. What a delight, and I love the angel who I call Grace. Your Grace is so soft and surreal.

Silkies, to whom is this guy referring??? To your scarfie mistress. Please forgive my pathetic openings but life is butting me in the bumm and I am floundering. Forgive please.

This week, we will be looking at collections!! Now, my collecting does now pertain to Guitars, Pez or Nesting Dolls, but aren't they fun to look at. Don't we all collect and wear SILK?? The focus is the concept of collections on scarf designs. Let's see what we come up with.

One more that wouldn't attach to the previous message!
This is such an elegant and sublime combination, rosamonde. Thank you for sharing!
Okay... here goes. The hand, held upright like that (with the fingers pointing up and the palm facing outward) is called different things in different cultures; in Israel, it is called a "Hamseh" from the word "hamesh" (which is the Hebrew word for "five"... five fingers, get it?). It is sometimes shown with an eye in the middle of the palm, because it is meant to ward off the evil eye. It is seen all over the Middle East. In the Islamic tradition, is is often called the Hand of Fatima. And Middle Eastern Christians call it the Hand of Mary.

It is a very, very old symbol in the Middle East... it has been found in archaeological digs! Until recently, it wasn't seen in the U.S. at all... I bought one in Israel in 1976, and none of my friends here had ever seen such a thing. But because we live in such a "globalized" world (which I think is a wonderful thing!) it is now seen in many countries, worn usually as a necklace or bracelet. And, as you can see, used as a scarf pattern!:smile1:

End of lecture!;)
Thank you for sharing, Professor ElainePG! :smooch:

Hope Mistress Lisa won't kick my bum out of here as I'm off theme again.
I just recently rehomed a pretty Folklore summer silk GM from a fellow scarfie. She's so gorgy and I'm a happy girl .

And, of course, the neon green border can be tied away, revealing the beautiful Pucci-esque centre.

Happy Sunday everyone!
