I used to wear scarves with suits, back in my Corporate America

days. You probably aren't old enough to remember the book "Dress For Success," but in the late 1970s through perhaps the early 1990s, women who wanted to be taken seriously in the business world had to sort of dress like... well, like men! The "uniform" was an unadorned navy twill suit, severely cut, with a straight skirt, hemmed just below the knee; a white silk blouse; navy pumps; a strand of pearls; and small pearl stud earrings. It's difficult to imagine, these days, but there was very little leeway. The suit might be grey, or (maybe) black; the silk blouse might be pale pink, or (perhaps) have a thin blue stripe, but that was the extent of the deviation.
Well, I wasn't an employee, I was a consultant, so I could indulge in a bit of "frivolity." And the way I did it was with my Hermès scarves. I'd still wear the darned navy suit & silk blouse, but when I knotted a scarf over the blouse, and added an interesting pin to my jacket lapel, it was my little form of rebellion.
I hope my little trip down memory lane hasn't bored everyone to tears!
