Thank you, sweet Florasun! This color combination pleases me a lot for some reason. :smile1:

Here are two more scarves braided together--the Pegase I promised Lanit along with La Vie a Cheval. They are done in a fatter, messier braid than the last two for a nice thick casual cowl (very warm!):

I've also paired the purple Pegase with another scarf, I'll post it later, good job rosamonde

Dear fellow tPFer's,
lanit is right. We need not always to be bound by the theme. What scarf are you wearing today?
From my outfit last week.
Clic-Clac a Pois
carre 70 05 marron/blanc/noir
J'aime mon carre
carre 70 07 noir/mordore/gris
double loose cowboy knot

I love this combo, cherryblossum, it looks so modern and chic!

I wear my scarves paired together very often and I've tried many different combinations so far, these are some of my favorites:

Brazil + Carneval de Venise:

Today I thought I'd try a "water" theme: La Mare aux Canards paired with En Course. I tried my best to follow along with the lady in the video that rosamonde so kindly posted, but my "braid" isn't nearly as pretty as rosamonde's! I think I'm doing something wrong, but I can't figure out what it is.

Are you supposed to begin with both scarves (folded on the bias) around your neck together, or tie them to each other at one end, put the knot behind your neck, and then you have one very loooooong scarf, which you can then braid? I did it the first way, and I ran out of fabric almost immediately, as you can see!:p

BTW, I have great affection for La Mare aux Canards since it was my very first carré! In 1985 my husband & I were on vacation in London. We were strolling through Harrods with no intention of buying anything. Suddenly, there was a counter, laden with piles of jeweled silken beauties, and we both stopped in our tracks! The rest, as they say, is history. :smile1:

^ I combined two scarves sewing each end together by hand stich.
I found the blog of a French lady, in which the combined stole of Courbettes et Cabrioles & Brides de Gala was introduced.
I do not recommend this way to people who do not want to damage their silks. I do not either. But her stole was incredibly beatiful and the idea of combining two different scarves touched my heart. Since then, I've been obsessed with selecting two silk twills to make my original stole.I made one stole a few years ago and fortunately the stole had a good reputation. I took the first stole apart, fortunately each scarf is still active , almost without major damages. I newly made two stoles for coming season.
Here is the second stole.
A Cheval Sur Mon Carre 14 saumon/gris perle/etoupe
Carre en Carre 06 saumon/corail/beigr rose

cherryblossum, this is an incredibly creative idea! I'm trying to figure my way through your process. It seems to me that you must put the scarves side by side, so that when your stitching is finished you will have a stole that is 90cm high and 180cm long. Am I correct? Do you stitch them just beyond the hem (i.e., so the needle doesn't go into the hem)? And do you use silk thread?

As you can probably tell, I am considering following your example! I own a carré that was... well, not exactly a "mistake"... but I find that I never choose it. It is Les Muserolles in the grey, pink, and gold colorway. Somehow, no matter how I knot it, I can never get an interesting part of the pattern to show. If I can find another scarf in my collection that would pair nicely with it, perhaps I could get more use out of it as a stole.

Alternatively... does anyone else here own Les Muserolles? I am open to any suggestions on knots that would bring out the pattern. Although I have owned many of my scarves for years, I am only recently learning about creative knots!

I don't, but it's an interesting challenge ;) could you show a pic of the scarf unfolded? Tell us what part you want to highlight?

Sure! This is the scarf... and when I fold it on the bias and tie it in a simple square knot, all you can see is dark grey, light grey, and gold. The pink hardly shows at all... yet for my coloration, I feel as though I need the pink. Wearing so much grey next to my face just makes me look tired.:p I guess because there's a fair amount of grey in my hair!

Thank you in advance... I'm game for any suggestions!

Oh, it's really a beautiful cw!

Have you tried to fold it in rectangular fold? (in half, then again in half in the same direction, then again...). You should be able to have a band with the pink in the middle. Fold in 3 at some point if needed. Then you can knot like a short tie (simple knot near the end, and slide the other end through it).
You could also try a necklace. I use cheap rings to keep the shape and prevent the scarf to be too bulky (got a stack of 5 rings for 5€ at H&M).

In basic bias fold, I would suggest a necklace too, with a knot in the center, you'll be able to show the knight?

I'm not home, and I don't have a scarf with me, but I'll try to make pics later to help.

(now I remember the necklace was in basic bias fold :s )
Both of those are wonderful ideas, Melora! I'll give them each a try in the next day or two, and take photos. I especially like the necklace... we don't have an H&M around here, but I'll bet I can find something similar.

As I think about it, I could also create a necklace by doing a bias fold and then tying a knot in the center, and a knot on each side of that center knot, about halfway between the center knot and the end of the scarf. And then fasten it behind my neck. It would be a shorter necklace than yours, but it would still put the "pink knight" in the center! :smile1:

I'm glad to hear you are interested in making a stole. What you said is exactly that I did to make my own stole.
But before sewing your carres, it's interesting to challenge various knots,as other members recommend.
I made up my mind to make my stoles after I had enjoyed my four scarves very much. The reason that I
made my stoles is not because I had no option to wear the scarves except sewing them to make stoles. It's because of my curiosity.
I saw Les Muserolles on web. Beautifull scarf! The arrangement of the details is similar to my Les Voirtures a trarsformation! It's not too late to make your stole after enjoying it. It's worth enjoying it alone. Please give it a try!

You are right, cherryblossum... I had not noticed that before, but it is true that Les Voitures and Les Muserolles are very similar layouts! I have Les Voitures also, and I figured out a way to tie it so the center showed (see below). I'll bet I could do the same thing with Les Muserolles, and then the knight would show.

I will follow your suggestion and do more experimenting with Les Muserolles... thank you!
