Yes, they are fierce when they're out of the water! They bite because they're too big to retract into their shells and are omnivores that hunt by 'aqautic ambush': frogs, fish, the odd small bird or mammal, and plants. This one was pretty small, the shell only 15" long, and I think was looking for a lady snapper. Luckily they're usually down in the pond. I think neither of us were truly happy to see each other. :D

Haha, I like your closing sentence:smile1:. This dear turtle looks old and wise, too.

Sparkle, I adore your little garter snake (yellow racer) and have them in my garden:smile1:

I am more into clearing and bonfires...

:roflmfao:

You weeding maniacs are bizarre, but I love you the same.

Gah - reminder of how much weeding is overdue. All I want to do is sip lemonade on my porch this weekend and wave to neighbors and their doggies.

Between the all the weeding and the rainstorms I haven't taken any pictures for theme week yet. :amazed: The historic/commemorative scarves all seem to be Kermit Oliver's so here are recent archive pics of Chefs Indiens, the Kleberg Conservation/New Texas scarf and the Tyson's Corners Washington D.C. 2006 Les Ameriques.

I am so late in getting one of the Chiefs silks Pierina - this one was one of my favorites and looks fabulous on you! Trying to choose between this and the bright blue border one, but my inclination is to be your twin! Love the minty green of the center and it feels so balanced with all the colorful chieftain heads. Did not think I'd go for it when I read about it, but there is a charm to those lovely leaves binding them together! Love Mr. Tortoise - you captured him right at a great moment!

With my new Hermes scarf- love these colours.

Dynamite combo bbagsforever!

Here's a photo of my Lavendar shrubs for all the silkies. In a week or two they will need to be cut back. Will save this crop for drying and using in sachets or dried floral arrangement.

Since history and Americana starts tomorrow, Early America for the upcoming national holiday week ahead.

Scarfies, I am off theme but am excited to share a few new pieces. First, I am a new Farandole wearer. Love it--size 120 cm and perfect as one strand for me. I am running errands in way casual attire, but know you will forgive me. I am wearing my darling Bird Dance scarf. When I saw this cw and THIS owl to match my new crazy-lucky charm find, I had to have. And then, a silk angel allowed me to rehome a grail: Prieres au Vent. I have always wanted to go to Tibet and own a Tibetan Mastiff but since neither are going to happen, this scarf will do for now. Love the prayer flags, the fun, cool Monk striking a pose...LOVE. Thanks for letting me hog the screen for a minute.

Clapping over your new goodies sparkle! The owl is adorable. We are twinsies on fandarole. I've always loved the Tibetan Prayer silk. It's a great design.

Pierina, oh how I love these scarves!:smile1:I am very much hoping to be twins on the Kleberg/Conservation scarf; I am patiently awaiting them to arrive in Europe. Every time I see your Chefs Indiens I add it back to my wish list as well! hee, hee! You and Ladybaga are the best KO models:smile1:!

Great photo of the Snapping turtle ~ What an amazing creature. I also love how the liitle guy is right on theme with your Kleberg scarf! ;)

Yeahhh, sparkle, you look fabulous in both scarves and your casual is a hit. Love the chartreuse with taupe and then the bird scarf. Doesn't it just lift your heart in all its cuteness? The birds have such character and the colors are so happy and strong. Love the Farandole on you, too. I have the 160 cm and it is my most worn jewelry piece. I adore its feel, weight and versatility. Thanks for posting your glorious pictures.
