LOL - what fun silk conversations we are having this today! I'll start with my EL silks - my favorite shawl of all time is Ex Libris Kimono.

Wowza - 7? Bring those babies out Anfang! A confetti mousse etole is a must have.:graucho:
And this EL en Kimono was probably created for you my dear lanit! Looking at your pics, this one looks so fab. And yet, no one worked for me! My all-time fav shawl probably is C&T ;)
And yes, 7! without taking in account my CenC. Digging in my boxes, maybe I'll find more! I'll snap some pics of each and everyone. And yes, to me this mousse stole Confetti d'Ex-Libris is a must have! I bought it in a heartbeat, even if the stole shape is not my thing, I could not resist! :D

Ex Libris/Brides de Gala variations

This week’s feature is designer: Hugo Grygkar

Why should every Silky know his name even if s/he does not own one of his designs? Because Hermes’ first year of scarf production is the year that Grygkar designed Jeu des Omnibus et Dames Blanches. It has been released in 1937, ’87 and 2004. I adore the women all sitting like hens on eggs, cluck cluck clucking away, discussing how to hide recent H purchases in closet, bags and sexy pantyhose. Up until this famous year of 1937, Hermes sold silks with geometric or abstract motifs but not until the House decided to produce silks in-house, did the famous Omnibus become Hermes’ first design!

Later in 1946, Ex Libris was designed and dang, it has been released a zillion times as has Brides de Gala—Perhaps Grygkar’s most famous, beloved design. This season, for those of you who LOVE this classic design--Ta Da!! Another One is Issued!! EX LIBRIS!!!

And finally, Brides de Gala. Now, pardon my irreverence, but I have never been moved by this design. All I can see is an old fashioned Scuba Diver. I cannot get past this. But, maybe, since there is a new re-release of Brides de Gala this season, I might just buy my first “Grygkar” scarf. Naa….. But I know those who are much more savvy than I will show us their love of the Scuba Scarf!

Dear sparkle, Many thanks for the wonderful introduction! Brides de Gala always reminds me of you! ;) Yes, because of those pesky old fashioned scuba divers. As much as I'd love to embrace the original BdG design, I've always seen the scuba divers, too! :wondering It's a weird scale issue, where I can clearly see the bridles, but my brain still says "scuba divers"! I don't think we'll be able to overcome this affliction, my friend.

But I do especially love many of the reworked Hugo Grygkar classics. Happy to have a bit of time to join in this week! :smile1:

Yay! Great starter once more, sparklelisab! Love this Jeu des Omnibus et des Dames Blanches! And as for Brides de Gala, I swore, when very young, I'll never ever would buy one, I found this one so ladylike, and to say it short, boring... As you will see this week, getting older, this design grew on me! But only in its multiple variations, and never in the original plain issue.

To start my tPF week's job, "à tout seigneur tout honneur", honour where honour is due, here is my 90 (for once...) Imprimeur Fou Ex-Libris/C&T cotton/silk mastic/amarante/bleu de prusse, one of my most beloved and my avatar. And 140 DD Ex-Libris vert mousse :

I clearly see what you mean, my dear, I'm now surrounded by orange boxes... Found so far 7 variations of BdG... But for today, I stick to Ex-Libris! Here is another one : étole mousseline Confetti d'Ex-Libris :

Love Ex-Libris in all it's variations, Anfang! Many thanks for sharing!

Marvelous Anfang, Anfang!

I'm starting with two pointus, Carré en Carré with its incongruous slice of Brides de Gala and Calèche Elastique, stretching the central motif from Ex Libris beyond comfort:

Ok, more:
En Désordre, incorporating--or rather chopping up--Brides de Gala
70cm vintage silk and twillys

Love En Desordre, markova! And so wish pointus were offered more in twill. So useful and nice to have half as much fabric sometimes! Many thanks for sharing! :smile1:

OMG, hilarious!

Scarf babes - I went back n forth on whether to participate since ExLib and BdG are 2 of my least faves. (I dont like Cles either.) Here is my very logo-ish look, H-style.

Dear seton, well I'm so glad you jumped in! I'm such a big Ex-Libris fan, and I love the way this simple design ties! And in black and white, I think it's simply perfection! :smile1:

Jumping in with two favorites:

- White and black En Desordre in a 90cm twill -
- Jeu des Omnibus Twillys in blues and greens -

Oh my, lanit,
These colors are TDF! Gorgeous on you!!!

I don't have the shawl, but I do own two ELenK carrés and I really should post them, too...
But right now, here is a different variation on the very same theme, the big Ex Libris H:

Hermès à Beverly Hills
