I've been MIA for a while (life, and trying to avoid the temptation, from all the eye-candy shared here). But, I simply had to share this long-coveted grail-mail I just received, as I knew (only) you would get my exitement!
Parures de Samouraïs in Marine/Rose/Bleu Glacier, NWT and only slightly above retail. Very quick try-on, as it's way to hot for scarves here today, but it is simply the most beautiful scarf I have ever seen, and I am soo happy to finally have this!

OT - but well, in honour of Canada's Birthday, I am wearing the special edition "Into the Canadian Wild - Canada 150" by Alice Shirley (always tempted to think Anne Shirley a la the best beloved Anne of Green Gables

Flights of fantasy - take a short romp through any culture's mythology and you will find winged beasts of all types: tigers, lions, serpents, horses - all have had wings added, feathered or leathery.
Mankind is fascinated by flight. The gav Reves et Raisons takes inspiration from the tale of Icarus who donned artificial wings and flew too close to the sun. Worn here with a Mineraux gav. You can see Icarus' wing stretched across the triangle displayed, a reminder both of his father's genius and his own recklessness.
H has winged horses in many scarf designs, the most iconic being Pegase.
My 2nd last scarf acquisition, just before Bord a Bord, was made because of the illusion of wings. Yes, the illusion
Dallet's Mustangs has been reinterpreted a few times. In the original, the horses ran wild and free across the 90cm square.
The latest incarnation was a modern interpretation using a very traditional technique. In the Marble version, the colours stream across the horses creating a vivid sense of motion. To my bedazzled eyes, some of those horses appear as if they are sprouting wings and about to take flight.
You can find mythical winged creatures in some other designs where you might not expect them.
Parures du Vent has many hood ornaments with wings, a symbolic representation of cars which go whoooosh...
In De la Mer au Ciel, fish transform magically into birds.
The most striking winged angel appears in Lumieres de Paris.
And here I am with a pair of wings wearing Grand Prix du Faubourg, a scarf with lots of action in flight and fast cars whizzing down the avenue.

This grail is the perfect design choice for today. It also has a bald eagle, a huge snowy owl, and several other birds in the design. Would love to have the Special Edition.
