Double the scarf, double the power!

“Wow” is, I believe, the appropriate response to this amazing post. I’m sure any onlookers to this scene might have had a similar dialogue about you disembarking from your airplane - Amazon of the air!

TY Cookie!

Love this post, for so many reasons: resilience, kindness, strength and determination. Oh, and stunning silks, of course!

The phoenix is such a perfect emblem for this week - thank you for making this connection!

I have the same blazer in both navy and black. Would have gotten the stripes too, if I had been able to find one in the right size. It’s a gem: nicely shaped, comfy and equally great dressed up or down. Love it

Welcome @xsweetdreamx and thank you for sharing your lovely Guepards!

Dallet is a wonderful and you’ll find many fans here. One of the things I love about this design is the sense of movement. Many of Dallet’s animal studies show animals paused in a scene; Guepards shows them running at full speed. You can see the bunched muscles, tension and release in the different poses, giving it a sense of movement - and yes, power - that is hard to capture on silk.

Oh, you probably do… 😆

I actually owe this pairing to a previous SOTD theme for patterns. I was really struggling to style Samourais, particularly in this CW as I wear almost no yellow (and pairing it with grey looks somewhat dull on me). Much as I loved it, I couldn’t find a way to make it sing. Navy and white stripes for the win!
Thank you for the warm welcoming! What an insightful observation and I can’t agree more. Dallet has a way to depict his art that makes them so lively. My other favorite piece of his is the Jungle Love. These make me so happy looking at them and the color combinations are just to die for :girlsigh:

Lovely choice.
Thank you! 😊

Aww, cookie, for a second I thought @bobcat1991 was posting again. Your Phoenixes are amazing.
:hugs:
And another vibrant scarf very similar to my Lettres Equestres from yesterday. Brides et Destin GT. A perfect throw-and-go format! The lighting was not the best for this photo, but the punch of the cobalt blue still comes through somewhat.

It certainly does and against the white jacket - doubly so!
oh my - glorious - especially against the dark purple of your top!
I am so far behind that replying to everyone will be impossible.

But I am loving the power scarfs, the 80’s suits and glasses ( I actually have a new pair that are almost identical to @Cookiefiend ’s). And especially the power that resonates from all of you, strong women 👍💪

So thank you @Lellabelle, I am really enjoying this week and your very interesting thoughts about power scarfs.

I love the idea of a power scarf to empower oneself. Although it is softened by the flowery design, my Tulipomanie lifts me up, in what I consider a power colour for me.

Have a nice day everyone!

Lovely - and I so agree with red being a powerful color!
Hello,
Not feeling well today. First my husband caught the flu and now it's my turn. 😬 And to add insult to injury, Merlin, the cat, bit me yesterday when being overly excited to have his food. Oh well, I did the Big Shopping this morning so we won't die of hunger during the long weekend.😐 Today with a scarf I like but don't love, Cuirs du Désert. Combined with suede and one of my favourite gemstones which is no stone at all but fossil resin, amber. I found the necklace many years ago in an art gallery in Gdansk, Poland. I wanted it immediately because the amber was manufactured in a quite modern way.View attachment 6159385View attachment 6159387
oh dear - I am so sorry you are unwell!
But - gosh - you look lovely in this soft and warm look, and the amber beads are so perfect with it!
I'm wearing a red scarf today. Not only is red a powerful color, this design features a big elephant. The elephant is certainly a powerful animal.

Beloved India is my power scarf of the day.

hee hee hee - I had to giggle about the Large Elephant - might be the cutest too!
Going with red again for today’s power scarf. Trésors d’un Artiste is such a wonderful design for textures and in this cw I’ve always felt it makes a bold statement.

so beautiful Jereni!
For day five, I will circle back to where we started and return to a forum where power dynamics are constantly in play - the workplace. The changing world of work was the trigger for numerous changes in fashion, and the reason for the “power dressing” phenomenon. Today’s power exploration is: Girl boss - professional looks to break the boardroom.

Some of our fearless scarfies have generously shared pictures of their shoulder pads and broad-shouldered blouses, sharp tailored blazers and fierce colours and patterns. These looks clearly show a defined and recognizable style, constructed with care to show maximum confidence. Power dressing is all about grabbing attention and showing the world you mean business. Because I couldn’t resist, here are some examples of what power looked like in 80s fashions:

(I actually had a pink suit a lot like this one, though mine was sadly not Dior!)

While the 80’s was truly the power-dressing heyday - with power looks utilizing colour and pattern to further grab attention - there have been professional power looks in each generation. The Chanel suit was a revolution in women’s fashion and has inspired look-alikes and tributes to this day, each of which manage to convey the same authority and elegance that made the original design so endeared. Whether it was the eschewing of corsets, the raising of hemlines, or the adoption of pants/trousers, strides in fashion have accompanied forward leaps for female autonomy and authority. Interestingly, the power suit look made a return to the runway in Fall 2024, so perhaps that’s an acknowledgment of the need to reassert ourselves at this time in history.

View attachment 6159432View attachment 6159433View attachment 6159434

Many of these looks were deliberately androgynous, to de-emphasise femininity and encourage others to focus on what we contribute, rather than our gender. To express ourselves, we turned to smaller symbols, such as scarves or jewellery. A single strand of pearls, or a casually draped silk scarf, was a way to hold to our womanhood in a world dominated by men. It is a classic look and remains a signifier of refinement and confidence today.

A well-tailored blazer commands attention in a multitude of styles, and no wardrobe is complete without one. While my days of being “suited and booted” every day are thankfully behind me (work continues, but the dress codes have changed), I have a range of blazers in different colours and fabrics, which make for easy and versatile professional separates. They are a perfect pairing with scarves for a professional power look. It’s also a great way to elevate a casual look, and pairing a blazer with jeans, a plain tee and silk scarf is one of my go-to looks when I want to be comfortable but still look polished.

Style tip: blazers come in many styles and fabrics. Choose a blazer in a classic colour and modern fabric - with good stretch - for a comfortable wardrobe staple that will take you from brunch to the boardroom, as comfortably as a cardigan but with infinitely more impact.

What’s your favourite blazer/scarf pairing when you want to make an impact?
Another fabulous post - and lovely jackets!
(scarves too!)

One more day till Friday - I’m hanging on my the tips of my fingers!

Today, I thought of the power of words.
They can build you/us up, they can tear you/us down.
Love letters, Dear John letters, well wishes, and resignation letters.
Poems, I especially love… even the goofy ones.
My earrings (Jeanine Payer) today even have poetry written on them.

The left reads -
“This close companioned
Inarticulate hour when

And the right reads -
Twofold silence
Was the song of love”
Rossetti
(You can just see the earrings in the picture - but they are small)

Scarves with words are like catnip to me, so what do words need?
Letters!

@Lellabelle - My blazer wearing days are mostly in the past, but this picture with Le Sacre des Saisons is a look that I would have worn a lot. It ticks so many of my boxes. Serious colors, but an incredibly beautiful and interesting scarf.

I keep thinking there will be a large animal day coming up. So, that I can wear my Acinonyx Jubatus. Dallet's magnificent cheetah oozes power.

Jumping in with La Femme today and feeling strong 😁🙌💜
Have a good day 🌹🌹🌹
I can’t decide on the perfume so I might use both today, Mimosa in late afternoon.
Here’s Cavaliers 😁on the topic. I love that pink  . Bois de Jasmin is my favourite perfume blog so I’m sharing links to perfume reviews. 🙌

You look great and I hope the power scarf did the trick!
For whoever gave you a difficult time yesterday: Don’t mess with our @Jereni! She has a power scarf, and scarfies as backup!

I remember your previous posts about your bespoke pieces fondly @Jacq1. Your grandma is talented, in addition to being a strong and inspiring woman. How wonderful to be raised with this example, and how precious these stylish pieces must be to you. The colour match with your Femme is superb. Thank you for sharing them with us!

I’m honoured that you were inspired to wear these, @Helena7. Wearing the precious ones can be such a hard thing to do (I am guilty of this too) but, as you say, they’re not being enjoyed in their boxes!

Was it the top picture that you decided to go with today? Samourais is fantastic with a leather jacket - it just works with no effort. I adore the purple one in the second pic. This was my greatest “one that got away” regret and I’m still kicking myself over it. I don’t expect I’ll ever see one at a friendly price again, so I am determined to enjoy it vicariously whenever someone shares one. Thanks for posting the pic - you made me smile (mostly with delight and only a teensy bit of envy! 😂)

Lutens’ Sarrasins would be fantastic with this. Leather and jasmine is such an amazing tough and yet feminine combination. A femme fatale combo indeed!
Yes, dear Lellabelle I wore the pink / grey Samouraï yesterday and left the purple/ blue in my car!
I hope you manage to find the purple Samourai again 🙌🙏
Thanks for a fun week. I’m really enjoying the topic and wearing La Femme today. I neglected it and it’s so pretty!!
I’m so glad you like Sarrasins, too. 😍
Hope you like Bois de Jasmine.

I had to pull this photo from the archives for @Lellabelle's subtheme du jour. Because blazer, because a powerful Femme, because the black, white, and grey convey balance, composure, and confidence to my eyes

Just barely hanging on too, @Cookiefiend…. We’re nearly at the weekend, and it’s a long weekend here thank goodness! Easter celebration, with good food and most importantly some rest. Your ecrie is so elegant and sophisticated and the earrings sound darling. How lovely to have this beautiful Rossetti quote hanging from your ears 💕

Two very powerful scarves, @Helena7 You’re knocking it out of the park with these on-theme power looks! the Femme is amazing and the pink on that Cavaliers is so pretty.
Interesting perfume choices too - you have diverse tastes! It seems like you enjoy iris? It’s an underappreciated note and very beautiful when done well.

All of Jeanine Payer’s jewelry is subtle - it my favorite thing about it. She’s no longer making jewelry (some pop up or custom only now), but I treasure all of my pieces.
