Your fascinator is glorious!
Thank you-- she makes lovely headpieces, hats and fascinators @Croisette7. She made the butterfly removable too! The Turqueries-- it is even better on. And your Astrologie! I have the new one-- the reissue from last season and my DH says it is his favorite design and as for your beautiful Pegase d'Hermes au Bloc-- so perfect with the stipes, jacket and blue enamel (and your bag looks like it fits right in, too!).
Congratulations on your scarf mail!! Your green New Orleans Creole Jazz (1996 edition) looks absolutely divine!!
Thank you on both counts @SilkCouture!Elegant, feminine and delicate Petit Duc!![]()
I love this in Mousseline @bunnycat-- it is such an amazing design! What a fantastic post and start for this week HE!!!! Love all your selections and what a technology find on that Dreamer scarf! And Double Leopardy -now there's reason to "need" a scarf....
I do have some math to share for this week, it just happens.
Here's one I wore sometime last week (or maybe it was the week before...it all blurs together when you work at home).
One of my first mousselines was a 90cm called Vinci by Francoise Heron, which was based on this labyrinth and geometric knot design from Leonardo da Vinci. And of course, da Vinci was not only a master artist, but also made many many scientific and mathematic geometry explorations in his work. I don't recall enough of my art history, but I think it would be a safe bet much of his work in perspective was based in mathematical precision. A true blend of the art and sciences.

It is so beautiful @CatScarfLover! Christian Renonciat was also the artist of my SOTD, Petit Duc. I love the delicacy and old world quality of his designs. Thank you for sharing the description-- so very apt. I hope you will continue to post often and share in the fun here!Thank you to all gracious hosts for making my Sunday mornings fun! as the first timer posting my sotd on this thread, I am very excited! and, hopefully, I am with today's theme. My sotd is Le Pegase d' Hermes au bloc 140 silk by Christian Renonciat, in blue azur/vert/rose. the original Le Pegase d' Hermes scarf design is described as "a mechanical construction, a tribute to Leonardo da Vinci and the dream of building a new word." In my mind it's a tribute to STEM themenot to mention, it's one of my favorite H scarf designs to date.
Great vignettes and a perfect scarf for the theme @scarf1-- I love this cw so much.As someone with a math and engineering background, I am particularly looking forward to this week. I don’t have many that fit this weeks theme but my laboratories du temps definitely does. Featuring everything from the Big Bang to space exploration.

Thank you @bunnycat-- yes the price increases areThank you LKB. I'll just take lying down today (though I am just about to go be stupid enough to go out in it for a bit...) Have the CP bandanas been released yet??? Much as I hate to say it, with the price increase...I really hope i can try one out, and especially loved the green one I saw.
Beautiful choice- Petit Doc looks perfect with that shirt and LOVE the fascinator!
I love your blurple Voie Lactee gav. You look amazing @Cordeliere!
Thank you @Lellabelle-- the jacket is um, not new, to put it kindly, but one of those knits with braid appliqued to pockets and placket. I like that it has no hardware. Hits about the natural waist. I think there are many out there.Yes and yes!
scarf, high tea and fascinator all superb! I love that jacket - tell us more, please!
I am a new member of the Patchwork Horse Club myself @Foxy trini and I think we may be twins. There were two quite close cws issued a few years apart. It looks fabulous on you! Thanks for a wonderful week of fun @bunnycat ! @HermesEchidna great intro and my “gears” are already turning to come up with scarves on theme. No pun intended!
This is an old pic but I plan to wear this shawl this week. Architect Nigel Peake’s geometric offering - Patchwork Horse.
It is perfect for the theme and this rose vif is lovely on you @SilkCouture. I have this design in the 140 wash silk and I adore it-- I am a sucker for scarves with writing on themSimilar to the legendary Leonardo da Vinci, celebrated as one of history's greatest polymaths, 'Le Pégase d'Hermès' pays homage to his STEM genius. This scarf acts as a friendly bridge between art and science, embodying precision in both realms, just like da Vinci's work.
Now in its third appearance this scarf it's a perfect fit for our theme STEM Scarves:

Inspired choice @EtsyBoss. This was my favorite from the 22AW season. It is such a great one and on point for botany! Here's my contribution for science week, Botanica Grafica:
"Arumfel, Centummorbia, Eupatorium, Loc Sumutri, Spatula fœtida, Zurumbeth… The most scholarly might perhaps recognize these species, listed in the index of The Herball or Generall Historie of Plantes, the 16th century botanical manual used by Gianpaolo Pagni as a backdrop for his new variety of herbarium. Layer after layer, as if planting seeds, he superimposed botanical plates and his stamped designs, the fruit of a graphic language to which only he holds the key. A flower blossomed, then another, until there were twelve in every color!"

Mr. Farrier! Hello! This is so charming @Pirula -- and of course a robot (AI or not) is on point!Hi all! And a very Happy SOTD New Year!
I am the very proud mother of a STEM excelling son. Me myself? SO not STEM. More Renaissance, with both an English and a Science degree.
But anyway, I got this great shawl a couple of years ago to celebrate son’s success in computer science and robotics. Though that’s turned to AI now but WHATeverrrrrrr….

I am delighted you are happy with it (how could you not be) and delighted to be twins. It is wonderful cw(05)-- it took me ages to find it. I adore the background color and the white hem. I think you will be so happy with your Tresors @Jereni!My other scarfmail last week was Tresors d’Un Artiste… this was a scarf I added to my list early but then decided I wasn’t sure about the color. I totally bought it on a whim the other week when I saw it on Fashionphile for under retail in brand new condition, with no analysis of what I would wear it with.
I was somewhat prepared to hate it by the time it got here, esp since in the meantime I found the red d’Orphee but…

I am gonna say this is more or less theme adjacent. It’s about the tools of an artist as opposed to a scientist or engineer, but they need a toolbox for their work too, and I imagine an ingenious STEM engineer could craft something clever with what the artist has here.

Fabulous intro @HermesEchidna with wonderful examples! Thank you for taking on the role of guest scarf mistress, it's going to be a great week!Good morning Scarflandia!
Thank You to @bunnycat for hosting the ‘chaos week’ of funny and happy scarves and to all of you for sharing your lovely scarves. It is an uplifting way to begin the new year!
This is my first time hosting a theme, so please bear with me and forgive any ommissions or mistakes of tpr functionality and content. Also I do this on my phone, so spelling mistakes and auto”correct” might occur. Also I tend to write too long…
One of the ‘excuses’/reasons I give myself for indulging in collecting scarves is the potential relevance and meaning of their motives. Having worked and studied cross-dicipline of natural science and history my entire Life, especially scarves with such mixed content intrigues me, and I hope you will join me in exploring that this week.
Finding narratives or traces of STEM - science, technology, engenering and mathematics - in Hermes scarves is easy, especially if the subject it widened to it’s full extent - the entire range of Scientific fields and the historic development of human Endeavour to understand and shape the world.
I will try to present a bouquet of examples this week with a new angle each day, but as my collection does definetely not hold all the great manifestations of stem scarves which exist I look so much forward to see and enjoy all your contribution.
And please, please remember that all sotds are welcome - in Scarflandia everything is on topic because scarves IS the topic. Themes are just the sprinkle on the icing.
I want to begin the week with an assortment of examples. And I start in the now of modern tech, with the computer game inspired Super Silk Quest by Elias Kofouros.
View attachment 5929512
View attachment 5929510
Other designs inspired by digital tech and computers is The Game by the same designer , and we also find some bears (or Apes?) with a gameboy on Nothing but a Dreamer by Mayliss Vigouroux.
View attachment 5929519
Another direct use of tech equipment in scarves is the x-ray image of Please Check in, by Dimitri Rybaltchenko And there are several other designs related to photo and film technology like Photo Fisnish and Sequences. Please let us see these, and other examples!
View attachment 5929522
Nothing but a Dreamer also feature whales. Whales were hunted to near extinction in the 16-19th centuries for their blubber and oil to be used for especially fuel for lamps. The Discovery of how to use gas and electricity instead fortunately relieved the stress on whales, but changed a lot more! No doubt the electric and digital revolution has altered our lifes and the State of the Planet in general to extent we do probably not yet understand. But it has also literally enlightened us. Let me see scarves of lightbulbs, neon, lampposts, sparks and beams - all the modern Electric stuff, while I myself stay Old School with more whales and some Lanterns.

Preparing for the week, I did not have much luck in finding good examples of maths in my own collection - expect for the eternal counting of scarves, and ignoring the costs- but I know they must be there so please also give us some of your creative examples of Math as well to fire up the week.
My only slightly mathematical scarf is Les Douze Leopards (also know as the Double Leopardy - so in fact there are 2 x 12 = 24 leopards) - which even feature an abacus for us to check our calculations on!

Wish you all a great Day - The Stem story continues tomorrow !
The 'scarf apology bonus' is real! Over the past couple of years I've had a few, but the most recent is my favorite. My DH was babysitting our little niece, who is 3 1/2 and potty training (I was working). She had a...ummm...messy/stinky bomb in her pull-ups that he just couldn't face. Boom! New scarf for me!My thoughts exactly, at first!
But I might run into a serious problem in the future, if I proceed with this.
DH is considering about buying a motorbike.
He can’t decide between a Harley/BMW/some Italian brand but he is telling me that he wants a silk scarf, if has a motorbike.
He want’s the skeleton with a hat.
He is obviously taking about cest la fete, here.
Could I be holding in my hands a future men’s scarf collector here?
Now what if it slips from my lips , that yaiks, Your cest la fete has dead flyes, when I sneekly try to borrow it?
Then I own him a scarf😆!!
Your Cent Plis des Miao is just gorgeous @ninakt. My goal is to be your sister with this design by the end of the year.Anyway, for this weeks theme, I thought that Cent Plis des Miao might be it, from my collection.
Wonderful introduction, HermesEchidna!
I love everything about the shawl @GloWW0rM, you look radiant wearing it!
Scarf mail! Added the burgundy cw of animapolis. Twins with many of you!
I almost fell out of my chair @Croisette7 when I saw your gorgeous brooch. It is TDF! Your scarf is beautiful too and perfectly matched.
Your Projet de Voiture Petit-duc Bateau is gorgeous @LKBNOL. I just love scarves that have writing on them. Your fascinator is enchanting, the perfect topper for an afternoon tea.Happy Sunday, Scarflandia! Huge thanks to @bunnycat for leading us through Fun Week while chasing cats, climbing trees and preparing for an arctic blast of weather! Always done with inimitable style and humor too. I was in the perfect place to end this week because "cheerful chaos" is the most fun and kind way to describe New Orleans-- "the city that care forgot" (a lot of other more essential things forgot it too but that shall remain unmentioned for the moment).
Thanks also to @HermesEchidna for leading us into STEMtation this week. By serendipity I am on theme with my SOYD. I wore Petit Duc to an annual January tradition of High Tea at the Windsor Court Hotel. Petit Duc is the carriage of our beloved Hermes and the scarf's full title is "Projet de Voiture Petit-duc Bateau" featuring a carriage anatomy graphic, handwritten text, lined background and other plans for its design.

I LOVE it!Thank you for the kind comments on my latest scarves, and thank you @bunnycat for kicking off our scarf year with such fun scarves. Welcome to @HermesEchidna for your first, and hopefully not last, Scarf Hosting gig. You found such delightful examples of science and technology.

It is so beautiful @CatScarfLover! Christian Renonciat was also the artist of my SOTD, Petit Duc. I love the delicacy and old world quality of his designs. Thank you for sharing the description-- so very apt. I hope you will continue to post often and share in the fun here!

Thank you @Lellabelle-- the jacket is um, not new, to put it kindly, but one of those knits with braid appliqued to pockets and placket. I like that it has no hardware. Hits about the natural waist. I think there are many out there.
I am a new member of the Patchwork Horse Club myself @Foxy trini and I think we may be twins. There were two quite close cws issued a few years apart. It looks fabulous on you!

I am delighted you are happy with it (how could you not be) and delighted to be twins. It is wonderful cw(05)-- it took me ages to find it. I adore the background color and the white hem. I think you will be so happy with your Tresors @Jereni!

Boom! New scarf for me!
Your Cent Plis des Miao is just gorgeous @ninakt. My goal is to be your sister with this design by the end of the year.
I love everything about the shawl @GloWW0rM, you look radiant wearing it!
The perfect addition to your stunning collection @foxi trini! Love them all.
Your fascinator is enchanting, the perfect topper for an afternoon tea.
Fabulous post @Redbirdhermes and a fabulous Exposition Universelle. I didn't get this when it was available online and very much regret it. Would you mind telling me which colorway you have? I LOVE it!
Your pattern mixing skills are over the top @Snausages, really well done! I'm coveting your Hermes Electrique, so darling.
Your Vinci is TDF @bunnycat! Really, just wow.

Just perfect @scarf1, and your colorway is the bomb! running to add it to my wish list....
I adore La Voie Lactée, such a fantastic design @Cordeliere. Whatever color you see - it's so lovely. Does it glow in the dark? I think @Redbirdhermes has a 90cm that does!
Gorgeous blue scarf with a green hem - one of my favorite combos @Croisette7. Just gorgeous!
More gorgeous blues and greens. This colorway looks stunning on you @Foxy trini and is perfect with your sweater.
Just fab @SilkCouture, the best colorway of this design IMO.

Yes and yes!

Hello, twin! You beat me to it! Laboratoire is such a beauty in these blues and the design has so much of interest. It’s a cross-over for me with happy chaos, too!
How did I not know this came in purple?! Must. Have.![]()
Thank you, HermesEchidna, great post and love your examples. Congratulations on your Pytheas! And love the dreaming Leopard.Today is about Scientific explorations - about coluring in the white areas of the maps and reaching the final frontiers.
Certainly many expeditions through history have had less noble motives than a quest for knowledge, and narratives of especially European expedition history are in need of some serious decolonization.
But let us try to find the examples and designs which still hold some beauty, regardless of harsh historical facts, and find scarves which tell us stories of human urges to explore the planet, time and space.
Look how this one leopard (of the Douze Leopards) is Dreaming about travels to unknown places!

Sandra Laroche’s two expedition scarves, Per Astra ad Astra and Le Geographe are obvious examples , and there are also certain polar-related scarves, which I , alas, cannot model in person, but I am sure somebody in here will bring them out. And there must be more!?
Le Geographe - based on the Baudin expedition which set sail in 1800 with the two ships Géographe and Naturaliste to map the coast of Australia. Both zoologists and botanists were a part of the expedition to also record the wildlife and fauna of the continent. Four of the members of the party are portraied on the corners of the scarf, which also feautures the ship itself, an Australian map and examples of Said wildlife.

Another Laroche design Show the travels of French naval officer Lapérouse who in 1785 lead an expedition around the Globe. The design show a number of the places and people he encountered along the way, like in Hawai, Alaska, Mauritius, Japan, Russia and Australia. The expedition and the lives of its members was abruptly ended when both of the two ships of the expedition wrecked on Vaniroko - an Island seen in the center of the scarf. The ships were named La Boussole ( a compas) and L’Astrolabe (an instrument used for determining latitude by measuring attitudes of stars).

When the need to explore hit us, not even the sky is the limit, and space race, sputniks, shuttles, sattelites and rockets are plentifull in so many designs, reflecting the fascination of space travel. This is an area where my collection is painfully inadequate - but again Nothing but a Dreamer rescues me. And Rocket Racoon (of the Guardians of the Galaxy…)

As my probably sotd I am so exited to show you the first grail mail of 2024: Les Voyages de Pytheas which has been top of my list for some time. Depicting the travels in 4th century BC by Pytheas from Marseille to Northern Europe and even the arctic, this is a design I had to have and am thrilled to try on today for the first time.
