We all know what the original Brides de Gala looks like... I am very partial to the modern reinterpretation Brides de Gala Shadow from a few years back, which I own both in gavroche and 90 format. Blurring the details and using bright colors gives this design a poppy, almost pyschedelic makeover, which fits much better with my casual wardrobe than the super classic original design.

This BdeG makeover is such a particularly good example for this week!

Hi, scarf friends! Wow, we are 70 pages already! No hope for me to catch up then… wanted to share some recent scarves.
* Les Boxes — wore that to the stables this morning. It is actually a very accurate portrayal of the stables, down to pigeons eating out of horse buckets.
* La Trêve d’Eau. I hope you all are very impressed with me wearing it with a Patagonia down vest. All I have to say in my defense it that it has been freezing at work.
* The lace one (I think this is Toile d’H)
* Acte III
* The Jamdani stole

what beauties! Love that blue lace Toile H.

Synergy: my light gray and turquoise wool kimono tunic requires some color so I don’t get washed out; and I like my turquoise Petite Main best when I wear it with something other than black, so it gets a turn around my neck for a change ;)

Perfect colors tfp! A nice pop against the neutral sweater.

This should be a really fun week, and one where I am already amazed by all the various ways of thinking of this theme.

At first, I thought well...hmmm....I mostly don't do the vintage scarves, sticking to modern designs these days. But after I got this scarf in I quickly noted a few things. (I also posted my ruminations in the 2023 seasonal thread.)

Here is Ugo Bienvenu's fab Rendezvous Galant, which I noted as soon as I got it in and unfolded it had flying birds and monkeys in the corner which immediately reminded me of Dallet's nature compositions. Then similarity after similarity hit me with MORE animals hidden in the foliage, the circular nature of the foliage itself as a round frame or surround, much like Dallet would do, around a central theme. In this case, the romantic pair (Jungle Love anyone?) in the center of the frame surrounded by all the many other animals. And as it was noted when we discussed it in the seasonal thread- they are mainly in pairs too!

So I feel like this scarf is a nod and update of more traditional nature theme's from past favorite and popular greats such as Jungle Love, Equateur, Treve de l'Eau and even Flamingo Party.

Just going to sneak in with a last post of another type of border-- the changing border! @MAGJES showed CSGM Botanica Grafica, which is one example and here are some others, including my own Botanica Grafica. You can see how the frame border changes color from side to side... (I believe @Redbirdhermes' noted that Au Coin du Feu also has a changeable hem?) Other examples?

Thank you all again for a marvelous week!
Outstanding changing borders! Your gorgeous colorway of Botanica Grafica makes me want to add this one to my collection. I love this changing border and orange contrast hem. It’s beautiful next to your lovely hair color.
Holy moly, gurl! Where have you been hiding all these?? (What about your scarves with boring borders, LOL?)
I need to find time to review your and @Croisette7's pix. Head is spinning.
Thanks so much Moma!
What is the gorgeous gav just before the (absolutely fantastic!) pix from the festival? Thanks.
Moma that gavoche is Paisley from Paisley!
@MAGJES, I had to collect all your amazing posts into one reply but I am just reviving and fainting and reviving and fainting as I go through your magnificent collection. Just remarkable and each and everyone is matched and styled and knotted to perfection. Definitely bookmarking -- you and at @Croisette7 need to be turned into a slide show for the rest of us to be able to actually see these wonderful designs and colors. And just out of curiosity-- as a fellow sweater enthusiast-- what is the ratio of cashmere shawls to sweaters in your closet? :winkiss: Because your sweaters are amazing also...
Thanks so much lkb! I’m going to take a wild guess say the ratio probably is 1:1. Cashmere sweaters are my weakness….well…..one of them!
More beautiful scarves with lovely hems from your collection, LKB. And, yes, you remember correctly, Au Coin du Feu does have a changing hem.

I don’t know how I missed this design. Your colorway is absolutely beautiful.

These peuples are gorgeous Croisette. We are twins on the 2nd and 3rd one. I long for that first one!

Sneaking in a few more, too. Striped hem on PdP:

Thank you all again for making this week so very special. :hugs:
STunning Karenska! I especially love the Mustangs bandana.
Thank you very much, MAGJES. Maharani as a shawl is gorgeous - more of the lovely pattern!

You have so many gorgeous CSGMS! The pastel Plumes en Fête is soft and lovely, the blue Arbre de Vie (?) striking in this vibrant cw and I love the pink Chevaliers du Caucase because pink on white is such a glowing colour combination.

This Peuple du Vent is my favourite cw of this design. I saw it on holiday in the store in Rome and since then it is inextricably linked to a wonderful summer day. Your Jardin de la Maharani is a very special cw and it looks great with your green top. The border of the Savana Dance is even more impressive in the large format.

Bingata with your orange top is wonderful and the pink/multicoloured patchwork horse is so much fun!

Great contrast hems - they really set Hermès scarfs apart from the rest. Your cws of Acte III and Ex Libris en Kimonos are very beautiful.
Thanks so much Thelittlefoxes!

Oh. My. Heavens! What a fabulous collex and I know now I *must* find a Panoplie

Both are gorgeous @EtsyBoss - that walking/coraly pink is wonderful

@Croisette7 your collex never fails to amaze but that changeant! I die

How fun @LKBNOLA ill have to see if I have anything with changing borders…

Looks fab with the pearls @Redbirdhermes

Oh @Karenska what a great close to a fabulous week :ps:
Thanks so much Snausages! Yes you must! - it’s a really fun scarf with such a delightful border.

And because I couldn't leave him out. It wouldn't be fair since Snickers got a photo op.

Sir Pickles awaits tribute on his throne. (PS- I love how the pillows match both Pickles and the bench... )

Acte III, Scene I, La Clairiere... CSGM with a fabulous border and subtle contrast trim.

"The name of this design is taken straight from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Written in the late 16th century, this enchanting comedy of errors draws its humour from the confusion caused by falling in love. In a magical forest, young lovers, a theatrical troupe, fairies and elves cross paths and commingle in endless plot twists. In the moonlight, Titania, queen of the fairies, her eyelids impregnated with a love potion, falls madly in love with Bottom, an actor metamorphosed into an ass. In this illustration of the scene, Édouard Baribeaud pays homage to Baroque theatre, Indian miniatures and early cinema."

Twins with you on this cw of Act III @EtsyBoss! It looks beautiful on you and the way you’ve styled it.

A plumet is a bouquet of feathers used to decorate military headgear, including, of course, that of the cavalry. Given Hermes' penchant for all things equestrian, it's no wonder there was a plumet scarf, in 1989: Julie Abadie's "Casques et Plumets". You can see an image here. It's a busy busy scarf. The preponderance of mustard tones and the random leopard print background (why??) make this look rather dated, I would say! It does however capture the opulent plumets beautifully. (I don't own this scarf, in case that's not clear.)

We can compare this with the spring/summer 2022 scarf "Plumets et Panaches" - a much more modern plumet scarf with bright colors and a plain white background to make them stand out. It does have a polka dot overlay which is about as distracting as the leopard print of the older one! But I like the polka dots when worn. They give the classic subject matter a fresh, irreverent touch.

Here's the h.com picture and my modshots:

TY @Nomad @Cookiefiend and @LKBNOLA for the Pierre Loti love. Here’s a flat photo - you can see why I refer to it as the weirdest scarf ever. I love things that make the uninitiated think ‘Hermes did THAT?!’ which is yet another reason I love Jan Bajtlik

Anyhow, Pierre Loti was an eccentric naval explorer known for his wild diaries

Oops, sorry! The selected item is no longer available.
That's okay, I got it. Whoever knew how to host this marvel, please let me know.
When I saw the theme of the week, I told myself that I wouldn't have much to show and that I'd mostly be looking at yours. What I love about this forum is that it makes me reconsider my collection. I still have a few odds and ends for this week. I'll survive.
To start, an iconic piece: Brides de gala. If any scarf has been revisited, it's this one.

View attachment 5692524For a long time I thought I couldn't be a true H collector without one. But its wide edge and ultra classic design intimidated me.View attachment 5692522View attachment 5692523
And then, the En finesse version made me fall in love with it. View attachment 5692525View attachment 5692526So, when it comes to the future, I really like the shawl version (I think these colours would suit me well) or Brides and Destinies...
