Good morning. We did establish that grey and kakhi are neutrals right? Even though they come in spots?
And am I right in thinking that I am not the only one who reach for this particular scarf when dressing for a day of heavy meetings and tricky agendas? It just adds that little bit of necessary leopard-power to get you through…
Wish you all a lovely day!

@Karenska the center stone is a London Blue Topaz meant to represent the evil eye that wards off bad spirits. It rests above an enameled piece that is a hamsa / hand of Fatima. My husband commissioned an artist to make it the year of the Arab Spring and surprised me for my birthday that year with it to commemorate our experience in Tunisia. It's a very special piece.
It really is, and such a thoughtful guft from your DH. Thank you, EtsyBoss.

“Leopard-power” definitely!

Good morning Scarflandia!
I hope you’re all doing well after losing an hour of your day, and big kudos to @xincinsin for our Bargoon and Surprises week!

This week, a subject near and dear to my heart - neutrals.

March 12 - Neutral of Any Hue - Black, White and your personal neutrals (White Day 3/14)

Not just white and black, gray and beige, but all the shades we find or think of, as Neutral… Just what is neutral?

The dictionary says - “a neutral color or shade, especially light gray or beige.
"classic shades of navy, white, and neutral"
Hrmmm

Professor Google shows me these colors
View attachment 5738312
Hrmm… well that’s a start anyway.

I will admit that while I love All The Colors (except Pepto Bismol pink), I love me a soft, calm neutral. One those hectic days/weeks/months, sometimes you just need something calming around your neck!

My scarves are sorted by color - and by neutrals:
Dark

And Light

I have another drawer that we’ll get to later this week called Mixed Neutral, full of scarves that will make you say “Cookie, that is knot neutral” :giggle:
But they are, I pinky swear!

We all have different thoughts regarding
a neutral color or shade, especially light gray or beige.
"classic shades of navy, white, and neutral"
what we consider a ’neutral’ - is it color, is it gender neutral (winking at the men’s scarves), or does it just go with everything?
Let’s get off the fence , this is not Switzerland after all - and show our ’New-trals’!
Here’s a few to get us started!

A wonderful introduction into this neutrals week dear @Cookiefiend! And I am so curious to find out what everyone‘s definition of neutral is! First I was only thinking about the usual suspects as beige and grey. But of course scarfie-definition must be something else   I love all your examples!
Good morning all and thank you ALL so much for the good wishes. I am feeling a bit better-- a scarf, lipstick and a mod shot moment definitely fakes a sickly spirit into thinking things are on the upswing!

Recapping to say that @Cookiefiend, @Croisette7 (previewing neutrals with those gorgeous snowflakes!),@Karenska looking ready for a parade in her green finery and @xincinsin's closing bargains and lucky surprises were a feast for the eyes and very cheering...

To start off neutrals for me, here is a crossover scarf. I looked for this design for so so long and tried so many cw options and returned, tried on friend's versions and was disappointed until one day on a site that does not list scarves by name, I saw a familiar design and thought could it be? In blue and grey? Oh, my. I took a chance and a week later it was mine for 50% of retail. I gave it a bath and ironed in folds and voila. I love me a good bestiary and Virginie Jamin's Cavalleria Favolosa does not disappoint! I also love the combination of blue and grey. L.O.V.E Love, love.
Tied to show a "fabulous" bird for @Teaforparrots and in a shorter version of the same fold:

So glad to hear you are feeling better dear @LKBNOLA! And congrats to your wonderful bestiary! I have recently become your scarf-sister with the Favolosa. It has been on my wishlist ever since I first laid eyes on it! I was looking for the double sided with the blue and pink beasts, but only found them for extremely high prices. Some weeks ago I found one in new condition with pricetag a lot under retail! So it could also have joined last weeks theme.
Thank you to @xincinsin for leading us through Bargains and Surprises week, and welcome to @Cookiefiend for Neutrals week. Those are some fabulous neutrals that you have modeled for us today. And, thank you for the color dots to help define neutrals. As @Coco2606 says, neutrals are immediately chic.

I have occasionally worn neutrals, but more often I use my scarves to provide a pop of color. So, I while expect this week to be a challenge for me, I look forward to discovering new ways to wear these beautiful scarves.

So, here is a neutral top with a pale pink bargain La Voie Lactee. I find the look rather bland on me, so I added a rope of Tahitian pearls to help compensate.

View attachment 5738410
Not your usual look, but very beautiful! And your pearls always are the cherry on top!
Wonderful introduction and peek at your fabulous collection for this week of neutrals @Cookiefiend, J'aime ton Carré! ;)

Last week started with me breaking my laptop (10 inch drop off a stool onto a concrete floor did it in) and ended with me nearly losing my backup laptop to a full steaming hot cup of coffee that spilled all over me but missed my machine. The middle was all work and too little silk.

This week I'm going to embark on a some sort of Work Correction Program = tranquility.
Faubourg Tropical 140, encre and gris.

I hope this week has gone a lot better dear @EtsyBoss! Your Faubourg definitely is one of the most beautiful scarves I know! Love it!
Hello dear scarfing amigas and amigos! Thank you @Cookiefiend for the delightful introduction. Neutrals isn’t my forte at all:smile:) While I have a small collection of black and white scarves, I rarely wear silk in winter. I have to pull a few neutral oatmeal and gris de chine shawls this week out, but for now this is the shawl I wore last night to dinner - Appaloosa in my fav CW (I also have the exact same CW in 90 - how crazy is it?).. I love the design, the color combo (so rich and lush and alive!) and it drapes like a dream - whichever corner you like to highlight! Just looking at it makes me happy - Alice Shirley at her best IMHO. Happy Sunday everyone!

Absolutely gorgeous dear @Ashanti_Rose!
Crossover scarf that was a bit accidental (this is the one I got a seller partial refund offer on and ended up keeping) and is also red, which is a great neutral for me. Shown on the only bags I ever use for all daily and dress occasions, unless I need to carry a backpack or crossbody.

View attachment 5738570
I agree dear @Teaforparrots! Red and purple by our definition are neutrals!
SOTD (not on theme, sorry...even purple is a basic color and kind of à neutral in my wardrobe)
Offrandes d'un jour + H comme histoire
View attachment 5738607
Well, it’s not really on theme, but the gris chine background is a neutral, and so is my navy shirt. As Coco has so aptly demonstrated, purple can be a neutral, too :). SOTD Les 12 leopards on a cold day.

View attachment 5738681
Dear @Coco2606 and dear @Lellabelle: As I just wrote to Teaforparrots, purples are now defined as scarfie-neutrals! And I love your scarves
My first Twilly EVER on her inaugural appearance in Mexico Ciiy. En Liberte.

I recently thought Twillys are not my thing, but your Liberté leads me to reconsider dear @CedarWaxWing
Good morning. In spirit of this week’s theme my sotd is my probably most neutral, and I always bring it when travelling, as it goes well with a lot of colours, and even patterns. Actually, I Think I last wore it on a trip to Paris, which really makes me want to go again! Washington’s Carriage; take me away!
Have a wonderfull day everybody.

View attachment 5738827
Beautiful and a very good match for a lot of lot of colors dear @HermesEchidna!
Another good neutral colour is sky blue. A classic that needs to be revived a little especially for Winters. View attachment 5738872
For today, a touch of pink (good look) and leather (bad girl) and you're done!
SOTD "Mythes et métamorphoses "

Twins with you on this one dear @Coco2606! Wonderful with your skintone. I also love mine so much
My new to me La Rosee, in fairly neutral white and blue. I adore @Cookiefiend ’s changeant moussies in this design, maybe one day I’ll find one!

Before purchasing this scarf I was casually browsing images from the FW2008 thread, this design was just one of several standout designs that season, I now have an even longer wishlist :giggle:

A wonderful silk for spring and summer dear @paula24jen!
Bonjour, everyone. I am fighting my natural tendencies for this week to turn out like a paraphrase of Elizabeth Barrett Browning's sonnet (How do I Love Thee/Let me count the greys) by pairing some of my favorite "neutrals" with different top options other than the go-to charcoal, heather or pewter. Today's SOTD is Jardin a Sintra having a playdate with a soft teal sweater instead.
View attachment 5738960
Wow dear @LKBNOLA! I haven’t seen this CW before! It is gorgeous!
For years I wore khaki pants several times a week, with about every color top that I owned. A true neutral and probably my favorite neutral color. I picked up this silk medium Blason losange in kaki last year thinking that it would also go with just about everything.

View attachment 5738978

Today I'm pairing it with similar neutrals, that I think of as being on more of the olive green or brown side. They are two of my other favorite neutral colors.

View attachment 5738981
I like this very much dear @Redbirdhermes! It is a „relaxed Chic“!
Wore La Selle Imaginaire yesterday....to me it's pretty much a neutral.

View attachment 5739000
Beautiful dear @mktlim!
I figure a good approach to finding your best neutral scarf in the scarf drawer is to look for the one that goes with the maximum number of pieces in your closet. So here’s my workhorse neutral, today gallantly protecting my complexion from washout by my nicely tailored but pallor-producing asymmetrical blazer.

View attachment 5739001
And it works beautifully dear @Teaforparrots!
Monday Monday
Can’t stop that day.
It’s so graaa - yay
I can’t go out and play.
What else can I do to be useful
But wear a BEE-you-TEE-ful
Black and gray - yay!

A couple recent neutrals for this week.

Jin et Leo pareo has a lot of neutral colors in it with the brown, beige and black. Luckily for me, it is also offset by some bright green and pink. It does go with a variety of things in my closet, especially neutral tops.

Cavalcadour Fleuri in the Gris Chine' colorway is one of my go to neutral based CSGMs

Beautiful dear @bunnycat! Neutral but also very fresh! Love it
This is not an apparent neutral wigh its orange border but the blues and greens go well with my wardrobe.View attachment 5739527
So pretty dear @Maedi!
Just to keep it on theme, lots of grey and white, and even a dose of light blue for today’s neutral entry. I love this one, and I totally baby it. Not an ideal pairing with the pink but I didn’t have time to change, or style this as it deserves. Grand Prix du Faubourg. Sisters with @Redbirdhermes who has the beautiful purple version, I think?

Such a beauty dear @@Lellabelle!

Sisters with you on this one dear @HermesEchidna  And of course they are neutrals! At least we both think so

As soon as I even begin to think of spring I pull out my „marinière look“! Red, white and blue is my most worn combination at this time of the year. So definitely neutrals!
Today my Méditerranée together with ntm Lift pendant in white, which was a gift from DH to my birthday yesterday! I am introducing the @bunnycat method of buying presents to be hidden for special occasions! Very efficient  In addition I got an Annie Faivre „Terres Précieuses“ :love:AA769FEC-EF1E-4198-8F4B-67690D888638.jpeg

Moving kind of backwards this morning (haven't read yesterday's posts!). SOTD today is most definitely a neutral. It could have joined in Sleeping Beauty week because it has languished for a time. I wore it often when I first got it (under the potent influence of lovely Mai Tai) but mostly only with cream or black. Looking at it again with fresh eyes, I realize that the neutrals are not so easy to combine so I took a page out of @Redbirdhermes' color philosophy and looked for another color in the design. The blue/grey in the peppers reminds me a tiny bit of my Jardin a Sintra so I paired it with a dark "peacock" blue. Also showing the camel pairing for contrast... What do y'all think? What color top would you wear?

Happy birthday dear @Katharina Luise ! A classic look indeed and the lift pendant is super with it!

:presents:

Welcome to the @bunnycat scarf gift vault method! It is indeed a revelation. I will caution that it’s also expensive, as apparently it gives permission to acquire pretty silks well in advance (I am already set for my next few birthdays!)

Looking forward to seeing your Terres Précieuses :)

You look flawlessl! I love the pairing of your top with the scarf - striping perfection! The pendant is gorgeous too - and there is a great balance in everything you are wearing - the hem of the scarf seems to "flow" into the stripes on your top and on to the pendant! I am learning - thank you for a great idea!
