2023 was a Three-Grail Year for me and each of them deserves its own award. I have made a "photo montage" of the winners. Everyone kept asking what I wanted for such a milestone birthday year. "Oh, just some scarves," I innocently replied. But DH and DD get honorary Oscarfs for attentive listening, excellent organization and follow-through and very creative timing as I never knew which was in the wrapped box I was being given...It was a lot of silky fun and a joy to receive these coveted and now cherished pieces.

Oscarf for Holy Grail of the Year: Hommage a l'Explorateur Sir Ernest Shackleton
Oscarf for Best Group Gift Grail: Dans un Jardin Anglaise
Oscarf for Most Inspirational Grail: La Femme aux Semelles de Vent

But my actual SOTD is a recent acquisition from the AS 23 season which leads me to add a new category to my 2023 Awards.
Oscarf for Best Full Length Feature in the Bandana Category: Zoaves et Dragons CSGM and Oscarf for Best Short Feature: Chorus Stellarum

Wow, these are grails indeed. The grailiest. I LOVE all of these! I was so excited for you when you shared these with us: your hauntingly beautiful Shackleton, your magical night garden and the stunning Femme. Your joy and appreciation for them is palpable and they couldn’t have found a better home.

MANY congratulations on this milestone year, superb silks to honour it, and yes, special Oscarfs are in order for DH and DD!

Good morning!
A fast and fluffy sotd - Belle Chasse.

And remember - it’s Friday ! - have a Good one!
Beautiful! Cousins with you - but in cashmere:) Unpopular opinion - I love the Linares designs with dead birds. They drape like a dream - with Gibiers being my fav. Your Belle Chasse looks wonderful with your jacket - happy Friday!

Although, on the flip side, when you get outbid or someone is faster to purchase, there’s a particular comfort in knowing that it’s gone to a wonderful scarfie home. If I have to miss out on a grail, I’d rather it go to someone I know will appreciate it

Plus, with scarf trades and rehoming, theres a non-zero chance that it could still make its way back someday!
So so true, Thank you for that addition! Love seeing a scarf on others and it’s such a bonus to actually see it on a tpf’er. I often hope I’ll get to see it again haha.
N I dont love it when I see a silk get bought w faster buying fingers and then get listed online elsewhere for 1k more 👁️ and not even enjoyed by the person

Dear Scarfies, This year has been like a roller coaster in a teenager’s first love drama series. It kicked off with a first purchase in May, reminding me of that awkward but unforgettable first kiss. Since then, my scarf collection has grown frenetically. I hope my love for scarves matures soon for the sake of my wallet 😆. Initially, I was quite apprehensive about venturing into the second-hand market. But now, like many of you, I find myself eagerly checking my saved searches daily, always on the lookout for that next unique find. Of all the special items I’ve brought home this year from the resale market, there are a few that stand out, capturing my heart more than the rest. These scarves, which I’m happy to share with you, are my personal Oscarf nominees for Best Sound. Each one, upon its debut around my neck, unleashed a series of magical ‘WOWs’ out of pure admiration and excitement 🥰

I'm missing some other special ones, but since I'm traveling, I'm sharing these from the archives.

Awww, look at those colors! Sweet and irresistibly charming as a first love.
A very very happy New Year to all of you, dear scarfies 🤩

Thanks you for making this such a special place for all of us. I really enjoy exchanging with all of you, a wonderful creative and kind community ❤️

I have been enjoying the Oscarfs so much, especially the fun categories you all come up with.

My first Oscarf goes to my all time favourite H scarf (favourite format, overal favourite colours and my first ever H purchase too) : Grand Theatre Nouveau CSGM 😍 it is also my SOTD ( and of a lot of other days too)

I would have NEVER guessed you got your first scarf in 2023 @SilkCouture! You have such a stunning and diverse collection and knotting skills too  Looking forward to seeing your marvelous acquisitions (and smile!) in 2024😊
(and thank you for your sweet comment on my GTN)

SOTD - all 30 minutes of my video call day, then it was back to lounge wear sans scarf. Carre en Carre my second cw.
Another fantastic colorway @Foxy trini
In reviewing my purchases from A/W 2023 I discovered that this was the season of the twilly. I purchased the fewest new 90 scarves from this season since I began collecting Hermes scarves. But my twilly collection doubled.

The nominees for Best Twilly of A/W 2023 are:

Ex-Libris Marble Silk

Super Silk Quest (shown with Planifleurs)

I am introducing my Parade et Fanfare twilly in CW01 as my scarf of the day and the Oscarf winner for Best Twilly of A/W 2023. :flowers: Apologies for the late photo today, but days are short now here in the North.

Fabulous twillies - love that marble @Redbirdhermes
Like many of you, when I thought of “Oscarf” I thought of Tulipomanie! I have the white one as well, but immediately thought specifically of this happy bright orange version.

It was cold on the deck when I took the photo - there were even a few flakes of snow just for a few moments there! Enter the shawl I ordered in December (but just received). I’m not sure if it’s eligible for an Oscarf but if so, I’m pretty sure it wins in the Best Colorway for Me, Pretty Much Ever category!

Amazing cashmere @Teaforparrots

One thing that these following silks have in common is that I already owned each design in another CW. Though I love each of these designs and was happy with my CWs, these are all a CCP of sorts since I feel that these newins work for me just a little bit better. So my Oscarf to CCPs of 2023 goes to all of them:
Pelages et Camouflages

Fleurs d’Indiennes

And Jeu de Cartes

And, this Art Indien des Plaines wins the Oscarf for Best Unexpected Gift as a dear friend gifted me this beauty when I recently visited her in Paris. I already owned the black/purple CW of this design, but this a wonderful vibrant CW that I just love

TY @Living.la.vida.fifi - the Madison Party also deserves an Oscarf for best deal (insane to find it below retail!). And as always your mod shots make me weak in the knees - that FdI :faint:
Both are beautiful @ninakt-- big congratulations on finding these. I love both designs and you wear them beautifully...

Thank you for the description @Marta_K and also for giving my some lovely GT styling ideas on your newest!

Thank you both @Jereni and @mktlim! Oscarf week compresses everything and we see the highlights of the year but I can assure you that each and everything that I have posted-- in particular the three grails and three "special" pieces took time and patience to find-- especially in good condition and the cw that you truly want. Of course that painstaking collecting is offset by the exuberance of the seasonal choices and all the lucky finds that present along the way...

I think my DH was a little bewildered watching the slide down the orange slope accelerate also @Jacq1!

Thank you! I see that @orchard has responded and since she is my inspiration and prime enabler (now also twin) I was going to suggest she weigh in! The penguins are certainly cute, the whole scene is rather extraordinary and wonderful!

Thank you @Snausages-- I always think of you in the 100 CS format so I'd give you AND your two an Oscarf for wearing them so wonderfully and enabling me-- sisters on Ferry Tales! I think you would love the CS bandana-- its a goo one and a small format!

We need a Scarfie Misadventure week for things like scarf-sucking vacuums etc... don't ou think @Cookiefiend? What other perils lurk out there? It would be a community service to share these Cautionary Tales... thank you for the grail love!

And also, this wins the Oscarf for "cutest owl on a bunny scarf"-- wonderful colorway @scarf1!

Great outfit @LolaWhisp!

These are just ....Outstanding Performances @Cookiefiend. Your gorgeous Polo kills me every time. Happy to be sisters...

Well I award a Best Oscarf to you @Jereni for most talented at choosing the perfect cw to compliment one's coloring! All wonderful examples... and as always beautifully draped.

Great flat lays @Foxy trini -- and I believe we are twins on this cw! A favorite as well.

I don't know what the Oscarf Academy's Eligibility Rulebook says about the timing, but in my book, this is perfect-- perfect on you and Oscarf worthy for sure @Teaforparrots. Congratulations!
TY @LKBNOLA and gorgeous moussie!

No no no apologies ever. There are no conflicts in our land of scarflandia. Our silks are like a big bowl of the most beautifully colored jelly beans. Can always dive back in and pick another one ;). It will come at some point in future.

I am so glad I didn’t get it because I got my long sought quadrige costumes around the same time. That motto is always ringing in my ear that you now know I say to ease my drive to buy haha. “Cant buy them all”. Or “just one neck”. N good thing I didn’t jump bc i needed all my pennies for the 2 colibri i bought today and still need the orange which I missed.

It’s funny, even tho we are definitely different seasons, I am most attracted to your seasons colors. I am happy I can even migrate over to autumn occasionally for some silks and still be a-ok w complexion.
TY @Nomad and I totally agree on secondary market - if I miss something I think ‘someone needed it more than I do’ and ‘if I’m patient it will come back around again’ Can’t wait to see your Jaguars!
Good morning!

@SilkCouture what an excellent foray into H scarves! So many amazing grails and your tips are always so beautifully tailored

The Oscarf for Best Adapted Silk (aka Inspired by tPF)

Metamorphoses - saw one gracing the neck of an SA and loved the weirdness of it all but not the all gray look, then saw @Maedi modeling this colorway. Was delighted when this popped up on a resale site
IMG_6724.jpeg

Voyage de Pytheas - have always admired the borders but I think it was @Karenska who highlighted details of the narwhal and orcas and bears that pushed me to hit the buy button

Some scarf designs are harder to find than others. Here are a few hard-to-find scarves that entered my collection this year.

Les Bains D'Hermes - Both Blue and Green

20230413_085015.jpg20230909_105353.jpg

Noel au 24 Faubourg - White

Photosynthese - Both Yellow and Rose

La Vallee de Cristal - Pink

20231106_111200.jpg

This is a tough one, but I'm giving the Oscarf for Hard-to-Find Scarves to Photosynthese. These beauties were apparently a pandemic victim and never made it to any H website for sale. I especially like the delicate peony flower petal renderings by Theo de Gueltzl on the yellow colorway.

Nearing the end of this wonderful week, it is time for my Oscarf Awards for the year's new season scarves. The nominees for Best Actress in a Starring Role in 90 Silk Twill for the Spring Summer Season 2023 are:
Legende Brodee, the most stunning blues; Cheval Mirage, a striking design; Costume de Fete, a folkloric wonder
Legende Brodee (05).jpgCheval Sirene 2.jpgCostume de Fete .jpg
And the winner is ... Tulipomanie! This is my third colorway of this magnificent design. While I do own other multiples, I have never before this season bought three of any one design at one time! I was utterly captivated by the beauty of Aline Honore's amazing artistry.
Tulipomanie.jpg
And the nominees for Best Actor in a Cashmere Silk Production for this season:
Most Vibrant CSGM: Rayures d'Ete; Loveliest Landscape: Retour a la Nature; Best Boat Ride: Ferry Tales
Rayures d'Ete 4.jpgCSGM Retour a la Nature.jpgFerry Tales 2.jpg
And the winner for Outstanding Performance goes to the CSGT Bal de Soie, the most delightful composite scarf!
