My last post of today (I should have really grouped them into one, so thank you for indulging me!). is another first. I think of @Redbirdhermes as the Queen of de Poret designs here as she has collected them so assiduously since I have been participating. I so admire her collection. His work is so very beautiful and tender and true that I am always compelled by the designs but they are generally out of reach in terms of availability and price. To date I had only the 70 reissue of Les Bassets, which is wonderful but I longed for some birds, or dogs or deer... le sigh. Well 2023 was the year I found my first (and probably only) Xavier de Poret, Les Tourterelles. Incidentally this scarf was listed by the reseller as "brown" and the photos did seem to support that... I asked for more and..voila!

My 2023 Oscarf for Best Artist goes Les Tourterelles

A tiny little Oscarf statuette also goes to me for the first time securing a scarf with magnets and causing no injury to myself, the mirror or any innocent bystanders during the process :giggle:
A fabulous design, LKB. So glad that you have such a stunning de Poret. And, so beautiful on you. I would caution you about going near a refrigerator, however, lest you find your scarf magnet leaping from your neck to the frige. I've also had this problem in some elevators.

Well...in order to even think of participating this week, I had to "consult" my scarf spreadsheet as I couldn't actually remember what I acquired this past year. Now that either means 1- I have too many scarves (and that is true  ) or 2- I am losing my mind (also true... :crybaby: )

Brightest scarf of the year in no doubt goes to the exceptional Marble cashmere losange decorated with Kyoto Marble flowers, and trimmed in Jungle Love Rainbow. This is also my SOTD today because it is cold, and wet, and breezy which makes it all seep in...

You have such a wonderful and colourful collection @bunnycat! I love them all!

Happy New Year from a new scarfie who spent the past few months reading this thread in wonder. I’ve learned so much, gasped at the breathtaking photos, and marveled at this generous and welcoming community. I rarely take, and next-to-never post photos, but was inspired to share my CSPM Legende Kuna Peuple de Panama paired with little h geode earrings.

SOTD - Carre en Carre. I love this scarf so much that it’s a multiple situation. I already plan to wear the blue one tomorrow. I missed out on a pristine shawl on the real real stubbornly waiting on a price reduction that never came. I’m on the hunt for that in 2024! Added this deer family I encountered on my morning walk today. Happy Wednesday all! @Cookiefiend thanks for the kind welcome, I still am not a fan of preparing a massive multi quote (though I do like reading when others do them) so I hope this is ok!

Helloooooo Scarflandia!!
I wish you all the very best in 2024 and - ahem - lots of silky adventures!

I am - again - woefully behind… I blame the long holiday weekend(s) and perhaps a tad, a scooch, a weeeeee bit of the Champagne!

So - golly… decisions to make, categories to invent. :giggle:

2023 was a year of several grails (:woot:), and a very soft slide down the CSGM slope… who knew it would be so fun?!?

Without further ado <drumroll>
Best Pink in a CSGM - Patchwork Horse

Best Alice in Wonderland Garden - Le Jardin de Lelia Au Bloc
View attachment 5922241
Best Grail in CSGM - Parures de Samourais - wearing today!
View attachment 5922240
And finally the Oscarf to the CSGM that I flat out adore and would cry if it were lost - Schererazade*
View attachment 5922243

(Yes - I know that’s a strange choice, but each time I wear it I am astonished at how beautiful it is ❤️)
Cookiefiend, Patchwork Horse is a dream...And I can see very well why you like Schererazade so much, I am a fan too of blue and brown combos, and the quality of the fabric is visible even though the picture isn't a close-up. Your sweater (lovely shade, btw) is such a perfect match.

Like many of us, I love the vintage scarves. Some are incredibly and finely detailed, they are a marvel to see. They’re sometimes so soft, you know they’ve been loved. Sometimes they’re a little wabi-sabi, and you find you can live with a few flaws … sorta like the ones we love.
And - speaking of my vintage age - we can forgive ourselves for a few flaws.

Last year I found two vintage beauties.

The Oscarf for best jacquard of the year:
La Voliere des Dames - from 1958 (older than I am!), and in the lovely scalloped jacquard. I looked for this for a long time, almost had one in 2022 but the seller cancelled the sale, so I was thrilled to find another!
IMG_4216.jpeg
The Ocarf for the mostest birds on wires:
Les Oiseaux des Champs et des Bois- from 1954 or 2004 - I’m not sure. It only has one of the very old small care tags … so it might be older than I am? :giggle:
You all know how much I like birds, so this scarf made me very happy to finally find. It’s today’s scarf!

Really lovely pairing, @piperdog , and OMH - starting an adventure with scarves with CSPM Legende Kuna Peuple de Panama is truly starting it with a bang! Hope to see mamy, many of your photos this year and hear from you often

Happy New Year Scarflandia! 🎉

My slide down the orange slope approached avalanche speed last year, not least inspired (or, let’s be honest, enabled ) by the many gorgeous scarves and information shared in this wonderful forum. Here are some of last year's favorites for my Oscarfs nominations:

In the “best new format” (at least for me) category, the winner is the double-face. I added my first two in this format during the year and love them both for their great designs and versatility.
View attachment 5922135 View attachment 5922136 View attachment 5922137

I also “accidentally” added my first multiple this year, when I found this light blue/green ELeK at a very good price and simply couldn’t resist. I am however not quite sure whether to place it in the “Best multiple” or “Best CCP” category, as I am still trying to decide whether to keep or re-home the dark blue/purple cw (which was also a 2023 addition).
View attachment 5922147 View attachment 5922150

In the “Best bargain” the winner is the Les Trésors d’Un Artiste, which I found at less than half price and which quickly became my most used CSGM
View attachment 5922151
And finally the “Best grail addition” goes to the Jaguar Quetzal CSGM I was lucky enough to find a few weeks ago. Now I am just anxiously awaiting another jaguar (and colibri) to hopefully soon join the party, if they ever show up on the European sites..
View attachment 5922155
LeneCPH, congrats, what finds! I am your twin on ELEK and would love to have it in multiples. The CW of your Double Face Cheval Sirène is s p e c t a c u l a r

The third category at my Oscarfs Award Ceremony is for "Best Reissue of an Iconic Design." Scooting in just under the wire before the year's end is the recently released Jungle Love Forever. I am overjoyed to have had the chance to add this to my collection as I have been stalking (and missing out on) this on reseller sites. This is its orange carpet debut! And because who doesn't like to glam up for the Oscarfs, I pulled out my huge lucite heart earrings in a leopard print...
View attachment 5921799
And a related category "Best Remix of Classic Design" goes to Jungle Love Stamped by Robert Dallet and Gianpaolo Pagni. This award is shared by the mousseline 140 and the fantastic 70. Twins and sisters with a large swath of Scarflandia on these!

I'd like to nominate four standout scarves from the Spring/Summer 2023 season for the Oscarf of the season.

Costume de Fete

View attachment 5922693View attachment 5922694

One look at this Costume de Fete in the exuberant bleu azure CW01, I knew this colorway was going to go fast. Which it did.

But, the scarf design that truly stands out for me came along later in the season and was Tulipomanie. The history behind the beautiful, streaked tulip blooms which caused the economic bubble that occurred in Holland in the 17th century makes this a winner for me.

The Oscarf for the Best of Spring/Summer 2023 goes to Tulipomanie.

Wow! That is an amazing color… it glows with your yellow sweater!

Oh my - each one is stellar and you look so wonderful in them all!
Here are some more 2023 new-ins, each one award-worthy in my book…

The Oscarf for Shawl of the Year goes to Faubourg Tropical… It is actually the only CSGM I got this year, but I’m pretty sure it would’ve gotten the top award for it is divine!
Here, as I wore it out to dinner on New Years Eve
View attachment 5922878

The Oscarf to Best Giant Silk of the year goes to Planisphere d’un Monde Equestre… My Grail Aloha Ala Moana is in a special category, and this was the only other giant silk I purchased late last year and have already worn it multiple times…
View attachment 5922879

And, now a special Oscarf to The Return of the One that Got Away… LOL… Just like Dans un Jardin Anglais, I tried this one on not once but twice at the Hermès boutique in 2017, but was too dazzled by Samourais and other designs to commit to it, so I left it behind, lost it and always regretted it. Well, I am delighted to have found it again in the same CW this year: Chacun Fait Son Nid
View attachment 5922880

Biarritz which was issued in 1954 was the oldest scarf I purchased this year, but she belongs to the Grail category, so I will give the Oscarf to the Most Vintage Scarf of the Year to Pavement which was issued in 1970
View attachment 5922881
What a fantastic look with the necklace and FT! That’s fabulous!
Your Pavement though is just lovely, what a find!

(have to admit to some giggling about the magnets… they really are helpful, but as @Redbirdhermes says - watch out for other metal objects - I once got stuck on a bar stool legs in the kitchen when vacuuming… :giggle:

A very very happy New Year to all of you, dear scarfies 🤩

Thanks you for making this such a special place for all of us. I really enjoy exchanging with all of you, a wonderful creative and kind community ❤️

I have been enjoying the Oscarfs so much, especially the fun categories you all come up with.

My first Oscarf goes to my all time favourite H scarf (favourite format, overal favourite colours and my first ever H purchase too) : Grand Theatre Nouveau CSGM 😍 it is also my SOTD ( and of a lot of other days too)

Dear all
Now I am back from National Pajama Day, I have carried the tree down and out, restocked the fridge, been taught by my daughter how to knit and not least - played with my scarves, to select nominees.

How many scarves that had been added to my collection last year is a number that is only whispered in small padded rooms, placed in Dark underground caves in conspiratorial conversations between me, my conscience and perhaps my bank. A number no man, child or rational Human being will ever know.
In short - the best collecting year ever!
Wonder if it has something to do with the tender enablement, support and inspiration from all of you?!

My two categories for today are an age and a grail category.

I was happy to add two very wearable designs which are both from the early/middle 1960s and thus older than myself. So my Oldie and Goldie Oscarf goes to Gastronomie and Les Coqs.

2023 was also the year when a few long-seached-for personal grails found their way to my mail box - la Femme aux Semelle de vent and Into the Canadian Wild being two of Them.

A third grail gets the prize for Most Well Travelled Turkey. This - my first and currently only - Kermit Oliver was sent from UK and arrived here in Scandinavia 8 weeks later having been in both Mumbai, Italy and the Netherlands. (The Sound of my sigh of relief upon arrival could deserve its own special Sound effects Oscar…)

Will be back tomorrow with nominees for the Good, the bad and the really ugly + Best Scarf Swap.

Wish you all a lovely Day!
Oh my, HermesEchidna, the Cosmopolitan Turkey story is precious:giggle: Seriously though, congrats on your great acquisitions, la Femme aux Semelle de vent, KO, ITCW and Les Coqs especially!
