In 2023 I didn’t buy as many new 90s - a total of 3, of which Costume de Fete has to be my favourite. I love Jan Bajtlik and will be adding an Animapolis giant silk to join my Cosmographia CSGM.

IMG_2889.jpeg

I bought Alice Shirley and Annie Faivre designs on the second hand market this year and of these I think DUJA stole my heart!
IMG_8083.jpeg
Lastly, this year I added CSGMs more than any other format. I love them and wear one daily. En Liberte is the winner of the CSGM purchases on the basis that it’s the only multiple I have!

Archive shots because we’ve all tested positive for Covid and feeling rough so I’m not able to wear my beautiful scarves.

My next Oscarf category will be Best After-Market Purchase… which is a terrible one to do in year 1 bc I got SO MANY and adore almost all of them.

In making an attempt to single out a few that really stand out, I will go with:

#1 Animapolis… kind of like other designs like Acte III and ELeK, I’d gotten the impression around here that this design is universally beloved, and after a side discussion with a lovely scarfie, I went for the blue and green one. I love it so incredibly much more than I even expected, and is also my SOTD.

#2 Sous le Charme d’Orphee - I’ve talked ya’lls ears off enough by now about how much I love this so I won’t repeat myself. Suffice to say that this would have been one of my grailiest of grails and hunted forever, but I managed to luck out and find it right away.

#3 Into the Canadian Wild. Because, lynxes. AMIRITE???!!!

You did so well on the secondary market!! Love them all.

In 2023 I purchased 5 in-season scarves. I work really hard to keep my in-season full cost purchases down since I have so many vintage I love and hunt for. And well…price increases leave a sour taste in my mouth. Once upon a time I bought 90’s for what $350 several years back, before Covid?

I actually love them all!! I bought studio bc DD plays the piano and orange cuit works well on me. I bought the marble because this marble isn’t just pastels and has that red I love, and least amount of blank background color of all my other marbles I have rehomed. I bought the bouclerie totally by surprise when saw in boutique and just fell in love. I bought costumes Bc I will buy any scarf with such strong cultural connection, and for cyclamen color, plus folk art vibes  .
But if I was to award a “favorite 2023 season Oscarf” then it would go to Tulipomanie. I gasp when I unfold it. It’s so gorgeous. And I plan to add more cw’s for under retail whenever they may come up. But just the one Tulip for retail price is my rule.

Nowwwww for 2023 seasons I am still not done. Waiting for Colibri!! No idea which cw
View attachment 5922801
Kicking myself for not getting that Tulipomanie. It’s mesmerising but quite honestly suits you better than it did me. Please wear it often because it’s wonderful on you! Would you please also post more photos of your marble silk when you can? I know @Redbirdhermes has this but I don’t see enough of this stunner!

Upon reflection, I seem to go for the detail-heavy, busy, bright scarves that either have gardens, dogs, or a folklore theme (or a combination of these!). I’m big on folklore since my heritage is from the balkans, my husband is Polish and I was completely obsessed with Greek mythology as a child. That’s an obvious theme across my scarves in 2023. Let’s see what 2024 brings.

I kicked off our Oscarfs by sharing my Dans Un Jardin Anglais, one of my UHGs that I was lucky to acquire this year and the one that won the Oscarf Award for Best Grail… But I also ticked off these three others from my Grails wishlist in 2023… So, I will give these three lovelies the Oscarf Award for Best Grails in a Supportive Role…
Beginning with this fabulous CW of Mythiques Phoenix

And, the ever coveted yet elusive to me: Biarritz
View attachment 5922654

Finally, the special edition Aloha Ala Moana giant silk that I honestly thought would never cross my path
View attachment 5922653

Congrats on finding these amazing grails!!! I particularly find the Phoenix very fetching in that colorway. It is so elegant.

I am emerging from my holiday season overeating coma! Thank you @Living.la.vida.fifi for a great closing intro and to all scarf mistresses for a delightful 2023.

The Oscars usually start with Supporting Acting awards, so I shall start my Oscarfs with Supporting Scarfies. These beauties found their way to Ye Olde Scarf Drawer by way of Silken sisters

All of these are so gorgeous on you and you look so happy! I love the colors in that Texas Wildlife. 70s are so cute. And that Parures is on my grail list.

Today I am wearing Mille et un Lapins twilly, with Behapi Double Tour bracelet layered on top as a choker. I should probably give an Oscarf to twillies for best format. So versatile and easy to wear.

View attachment 5922747

I actually don’t find twillys easy to wear at all - YOU make it look easy and wear them so well! I think H should hire you as a twilly model, you are so inventive with them.

I have a few other awards to present today (one will depend on lighting, timing and opportunity). In 2023, I acquired my first (and likely to remain only) exceptional scarf, Pois Couture Ex Libris, sometimes also called Ex Libris au Pois. This is a 90 mousseline embroidered with small bright blue beaded discs. I did not have a classic Ex Libris in my collection so I was thrilled to add this one. The Oscarf for "Best Exceptional" in my collection goes to this lovely piece (albeit by default)...

Gorgeous exceptional! I love it with the white as a backdrop, it really makes it pop.

A very very happy New Year to all of you, dear scarfies 🤩

Thanks you for making this such a special place for all of us. I really enjoy exchanging with all of you, a wonderful creative and kind community ❤️

I have been enjoying the Oscarfs so much, especially the fun categories you all come up with.

My first Oscarf goes to my all time favourite H scarf (favourite format, overal favourite colours and my first ever H purchase too) : Grand Theatre Nouveau CSGM 😍 it is also my SOTD ( and of a lot of other days too)

Sisters on every one of them  - and they are all on my top-6 list. I Think you have made perfect choises - and the cws are great on you!

Thank you @Jereni!

You are too funny @HermesEchidna! Your posts are like graphic novel/comic book of like in Scarflandia...These are lovely acquisitions but my personal favorite award is for "Most Traveled Turkey"... I am glad it finally gobbled its way home to you.

A wonderful pairing of these two @Jereni!

You had a truly beautiful year-- each and everyone is special and perfect for you @LeneCPH -- and also beautifully tied! I agree with @Nomad's comment-- don't rush on the ELeK-- I have three and thought for sure one would go but it is design worthy of multiples and oyu have two beauties to play with. A great Oscarf post.

Thank you @Croisette7!

This CSGM and you were destined to find each other @Nomad!

It is so beautiful in CSGM @Croisette7 -- and not a design we see often here on TPF....

Wow you have walked away with this category @Cookiefiend-- a very good Oscarf year in this category for sure. And it is such a warm and gentle slide you hardly feel it...
Thank you, dear!
Epic, indeed… these are all magnificent! Such wonderful choices!

What a wonderful story! So glad to have you in this space! You look amazing and these are a fabulous way to begin your H journey!

Two great ones! I am such a huge fan of Parade en Fanfare… Wish I would’ve added another CW! Yours!

Omg what a stunning parade! I am blown away by each one! I have that ELEK you are thinking of rehoming and love it!

Oooh! These are all fantastic! I was very close to getting that special Musique des Spheres… Gorgeous on you

Really a beauty, LKB!

Well, dear friends, some of y'all have posted vintage scarves and some of you have posted scarves that are older than your tender years and still others have posted "golden oldies," but I have yet to see an award for a vintage scarf worn by a scarfie of the exact same vintage, so here goes. The Oscarf "Lifetime Achievement Award" goes to this lovely silk who, like me completed 70 turns around the sun in 2023.
Les Chemins de l'Iles de France, 1953

It took me a few years of planning and quite a bit of help and advice from folks here and in other corners of the Scarf Universe to find this so it may also deserve an award for most successful collective search... :flowers: :hugs:

Fantastic Oscarfs!

Heeheeheee - I love this! The scarf is gorgeous and… one of the things I love about the scarves is that they sometimes have a ‘secret‘ that only you (or another scarfie) knows about.
Our Samourais for courage, Horse derrières for - well - the horse derrières we have to deal with, a secret flower to cheer us, a rescued pup to give us hope.

Thank you - it was a serendipitous pairing… and one I won’t forget!

Gorgeous - and I had a good morning giggle about the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly! :giggle:
I hope you wear your ACdelaV soon - it is a stunning scarf… I sometimes just look at mine and marvel over it.

Kismet!

Love it!
I think you deserve an Oscarf yourself for showing us your incredible use of necklaces with the scarves and for having The Tiniest Neck Ever!

Thank you sweetheart!

Truly a beautiful scarf, it now has the most Beautiful owner!

:faint:
Gorgeous!

Thank you sweetie!
I am always tickled at how happy we get over the vintage scarves still - and how this board shares in that joy. :hugs:

I'd like to nominate four standout scarves from the Spring/Summer 2023 season for the Oscarf of the season.

Coaching Forever

Le Carnaval des Animaux

Tulipomanie

Costume de Fete

20230109_135038.jpg20230110_094552.jpg

One look at this Costume de Fete in the exuberant bleu azure CW01, I knew this colorway was going to go fast. Which it did.

But, the scarf design that truly stands out for me came along later in the season and was Tulipomanie. The history behind the beautiful, streaked tulip blooms which caused the economic bubble that occurred in Holland in the 17th century makes this a winner for me.

20230409_144128.jpg

The Oscarf for the Best of Spring/Summer 2023 goes to Tulipomanie.
