Dear all
Now I am back from National Pajama Day, I have carried the tree down and out, restocked the fridge, been taught by my daughter how to knit and not least - played with my scarves, to select nominees.

How many scarves that had been added to my collection last year is a number that is only whispered in small padded rooms, placed in Dark underground caves in conspiratorial conversations between me, my conscience and perhaps my bank. A number no man, child or rational Human being will ever know.
In short - the best collecting year ever!
Wonder if it has something to do with the tender enablement, support and inspiration from all of you?!

My two categories for today are an age and a grail category.

I was happy to add two very wearable designs which are both from the early/middle 1960s and thus older than myself. So my Oldie and Goldie Oscarf goes to Gastronomie and Les Coqs.

2023 was also the year when a few long-seached-for personal grails found their way to my mail box - la Femme aux Semelle de vent and Into the Canadian Wild being two of Them.
View attachment 5922072
View attachment 5922073
A third grail gets the prize for Most Well Travelled Turkey. This - my first and currently only - Kermit Oliver was sent from UK and arrived here in Scandinavia 8 weeks later having been in both Mumbai, Italy and the Netherlands. (The Sound of my sigh of relief upon arrival could deserve its own special Sound effects Oscar…)

Will be back tomorrow with nominees for the Good, the bad and the really ugly + Best Scarf Swap.

Wish you all a lovely Day!
Love this post, HE! Most of the time I don’t want to contemplate how much I spend on scarves .

Fantastic finds!! I’m very happy for you!

BTW….I completely agree with your secret approach to scarf acquisitions – I couldn’t stop laughing at your comment! It hits close to home. As for my husband, he’s seen an endless parade of boxes but remains charmingly clueless about the real tally. If he ever finds out, I might have to turn those dark caves into a permanent residence! Keeping the count under wraps is definitely the key to marital harmony, right? 😂🧣 #SecretScarfSociety
“#SecretScarfSociety” - I love this .

Happy New Year Scarflandia! 🎉

My slide down the orange slope approached avalanche speed last year, not least inspired (or, let’s be honest, enabled ) by the many gorgeous scarves and information shared in this wonderful forum. Here are some of last year's favorites for my Oscarfs nominations:

In the “best new format” (at least for me) category, the winner is the double-face. I added my first two in this format during the year and love them both for their great designs and versatility.
View attachment 5922135 View attachment 5922136 View attachment 5922137

I also “accidentally” added my first multiple this year, when I found this light blue/green ELeK at a very good price and simply couldn’t resist. I am however not quite sure whether to place it in the “Best multiple” or “Best CCP” category, as I am still trying to decide whether to keep or re-home the dark blue/purple cw (which was also a 2023 addition).
View attachment 5922147 View attachment 5922150

In the “Best bargain” the winner is the Les Trésors d’Un Artiste, which I found at less than half price and which quickly became my most used CSGM
View attachment 5922151
And finally the “Best grail addition” goes to the Jaguar Quetzal CSGM I was lucky enough to find a few weeks ago. Now I am just anxiously awaiting another jaguar (and colibri) to hopefully soon join the party, if they ever show up on the European sites..

All stunning!!

I am always on the lookout for special scarves, i.e., Special, Limited or Exceptional Editions. Here are a few of the special scarves that I added to my collection during 2023.

La Musique des Spheres had been on my wish list for years, and I chanced upon one in excellent condition for a great price on a website for a consignment shop located in Florida. Then, I noticed it was a special edition for Lincoln Center, and research showed that there were only purple and orange colorways for the special edition. And, I had stumbled across the purple. :happydance:

The Oscarf for Special Scarves goes to La Musique des Spheres Lincoln Center 50th Anniversary Edition.

I love seeing and reading about your special edition scarves!

Well, I have done my tallying. My 2023 number is a lot, but I am making myself feel better by comparing the number to last year which was more :girlshocked:. At the end of each year, I find it so helpful to take a good look at the year’s ins and outs, as well as hard look at entire collection.
I’ll start with a scarf that wins three awards ;)
“Biggest Bargain” Award AND “Never on my radar but couldn’t pass it up at that price” Award AND I truly am thinking this- “the best scarf ‘on me’ of any in collex” award. I actually glow in it.

Helloooooo Scarflandia!!
I wish you all the very best in 2024 and - ahem - lots of silky adventures!

I am - again - woefully behind… I blame the long holiday weekend(s) and perhaps a tad, a scooch, a weeeeee bit of the Champagne!

So - golly… decisions to make, categories to invent. :giggle:

2023 was a year of several grails (:woot:), and a very soft slide down the CSGM slope… who knew it would be so fun?!?

Without further ado <drumroll>

(Yes - I know that’s a strange choice, but each time I wear it I am astonished at how beautiful it is ❤️)
Drool!! Each is perfect. I need a patchwork horse CSGM.

It’s great to see you, Foxi. Happy New Year :hugs:. Your Prieres is stunning and is so beautiful on you. And I love that gorgeous chair with the pillows. So, so inviting - just need a cup of tea, a glass of wine, some soft music and an absorbing book - who could ask for anything more? Hmmm, how ‘bout a cozy CSGM? :hbeat:
Thank you so much 😊! I’ve missed everyone in this thread. Getting back into the swing of posting. It’s one of my favorite corners of our first floor, especially with all of the windows looking to the back garden. I’m hoping we get a lot of snow this winter so I can curl up there more often to read my latest book, and catch up on all things SOTD thread!

Your Tulipomanie is exquisite and your knotting skills elevate it further!

Great acquisitions! Your tulip was screenshotted along with @Living.la.vida.fifi. I would like a second and it’s amazing!
Your Cheval also screenshotted along with cookie and jereni as I still can’t pick a colorway! That mermaid tail is everything. And your amoureux stopped me in scroll. It is so striking! We don’t see this design often.

We need a ditto button on here. I know I will regret it too w la Douze. I still think about the pink one and the turquoise/orange.

Thank you so much @Living.la.vida.fifi -- this is such a fun and useful week. Love your beautiful Mythologies too!

Yes, it makes sense to me! I was very slow to warm to gavs also @ Sylt Lover and I don't have all that many myself but they can be great accent pieces as I have learned here! The 90 twill format was my first and forever love even though I have embraced a lot of other formats since...

Just beautiful and as always you make fabulous color selections-- I also succumbed to the Oscarf worthy Tulipomanie and Tea for Two and am twins with youon that remarkable bandana! The Bouclerie 70 is just a dream @Living.la.vida.fifi -- lovely.

Thank you @Nomad. I love this anecdote about your daughter. Mine used to love to "shop my closet" when she was younger and now has adopted certain style habits that make me smile in recognition. Down south we say, "She gets it from her mama." It is a lovely thing! As for Elias Kafouros-- he also did Super Silk Quest this year which is great fun but I love best the way his work looks on cashmere...

These are fantastic additions for you @Forever Orange! I alsways admire your scarf/blazer pairings so much that I am curious to see what can possibly need a CCP in your collection. But I know we all have them... I think the tweaking and reevaluating and adjusting is part of the fun and the excitement of curating a good collection so here's to your 2024 adventure! And I love your Sieste-- we are twins on this beauty...a grail for me as well.

What a lovely cw of this @Foxy trini! I love this design. Sisters with the blue ...

I hope that you will find them when you are ready @Maedi-- one thing I have learned over the past several years is that everything somehow is out there and often makes it way to us in the right time...

Well it has been a delight to follow your very exciting whirlwind adventure @SilkCouture-- two wonderful pieces to start with followed by many that span the range of Hermes styles if I recollect correctly. I think you make perfectly valid points and what is so wonderful about our dear Hermes is that there is a range of options available to each of us depending on taste and, even when we are disappointed in any given seasons' designs or colors, we always can revert to our wish lists and the after market for H joy! You have been a wonderful asset to our board-- I love your style and your palpable joy in your new style journey.

Thank you @SilkCouture but I only ca dream of that Brandebourg CSGM-- it is still a grail for me! Wish me luck...

Thank you @paula24jen -- I am on the mend and yes, Awoooooo is the scarf equivalent of a security blanket-- it makes anything better. Happy New Year to you!
Thank you so much for all the comments and likes!

For 2024: I need to curate my collection. First by actively putting some.scarves through a rigourous CCP (Color Correction Program). And secondly, rehome the ones I no longer reach for and should be gracing someone else's neck.

Many scarf ladies have mastered this art, and I shall let them inspire me as I step into the new year!
Epic, indeed… these are all magnificent! Such wonderful choices!

SOTN - prieres au vent. Felt a good choice for me today on what has been a day of reflection.

Dear Scarfies,

Happy New Year to all of you!

Rewinding to May 2023, on a trip to Zurich,
I found myself in an H store surrounded by their gorgeous scarves. After trying on several, I left empty-handed, a decision that soon filled me with regret. This feeling of regret followed me all the way back home.

On Memorial Day, my journey took an exciting turn. I purchased my first two Hermes scarves: "Tea for Two" and "Objets de Curiosite." These weren't just ordinary buys; they signified the start of a remarkable adventure – my first slide down the orange slope. In recognition of this, I'd award both scarves an "Honorary Oscar" in my personal silk journey.

There's a lot of talk about how Hermes has shifted its style, with some people not too keen on the newer, more playful designs. They say Hermes is going for a different vibe now. Well, for me, that new vibe was spot-on. The youthful, modern look of these scarves really hooked me.

I’ve always been fond of scarves. They add a touch of elegance to any outfit. But I always have been worry that some designs seemed to add a layer of maturity that I’m particularly not interested in.

A classic-looking scarf wouldn’t have had the same impact (now it’s a different story) H captivated me with their fresh, playful designs – that's what sparked my love affair, or rather, my obsession with silk scarves.

What a wonderful story! So glad to have you in this space! You look amazing and these are a fabulous way to begin your H journey!

The third category at my Oscarfs Award Ceremony is for "Best Reissue of an Iconic Design." Scooting in just under the wire before the year's end is the recently released Jungle Love Forever. I am overjoyed to have had the chance to add this to my collection as I have been stalking (and missing out on) this on reseller sites. This is its orange carpet debut! And because who doesn't like to glam up for the Oscarfs, I pulled out my huge lucite heart earrings in a leopard print...

And a related category "Best Remix of Classic Design" goes to Jungle Love Stamped by Robert Dallet and Gianpaolo Pagni. This award is shared by the mousseline 140 and the fantastic 70. Twins and sisters with a large swath of Scarflandia on these!

SOTD 2024:

I don't know if I have ever seen this design on anyone else ?

Hahahha! Ok… We won’t ask the number… Love all your choices

FW2023 in my mind has been more of a B+ sort of season (whereas for me, SS23 was an A). I bought three 90s, a 70, a gavroche, and a twilly.

‘Best of’ for FW2023 for me is easily Parade en Fanfare, as @violetkool and @Living.la.vida.fifi also voted. I’m hugely enthusiastic about this design and would have bought more 90s if any of the other colorways had worked. Mine is cw03 (Bleu Nuit / Beige / Vert Sapin).

View attachment 5922106

It is also my SOTD, mashed up with another darling FW23 piece, Pantin City. These two go together so well it’s silly, and also problematic bc it tends to tempt me to find other scarf ‘pairs’ that I can wear together.

Two great ones! I am such a huge fan of Parade en Fanfare… Wish I would’ve added another CW! Yours!

A wonderful pairing of these two @Jereni!

You had a truly beautiful year-- each and everyone is special and perfect for you @LeneCPH -- and also beautifully tied! I agree with @Nomad's comment-- don't rush on the ELeK-- I have three and thought for sure one would go but it is design worthy of multiples and oyu have two beauties to play with. Thank you @Croisette7!
