Happy New Year Scarflandia! 🎉

My slide down the orange slope approached avalanche speed last year, not least inspired (or, let’s be honest, enabled ) by the many gorgeous scarves and information shared in this wonderful forum. Here are some of last year's favorites for my Oscarfs nominations:

In the “best new format” (at least for me) category, the winner is the double-face. I added my first two in this format during the year and love them both for their great designs and versatility.

I also “accidentally” added my first multiple this year, when I found this light blue/green ELeK at a very good price and simply couldn’t resist. I am however not quite sure whether to place it in the “Best multiple” or “Best CCP” category, as I am still trying to decide whether to keep or re-home the dark blue/purple cw (which was also a 2023 addition).

In the “Best bargain” the winner is the Les Trésors d’Un Artiste, which I found at less than half price and which quickly became my most used CSGM

And finally the “Best grail addition” goes to the Jaguar Quetzal CSGM I was lucky enough to find a few weeks ago. Now I am just anxiously awaiting another jaguar (and colibri) to hopefully soon join the party, if they ever show up on the European sites..

Well, I have done my tallying. My 2023 number is a lot, but I am making myself feel better by comparing the number to last year which was more :girlshocked:. At the end of each year, I find it so helpful to take a good look at the year’s ins and outs, as well as hard look at entire collection.
I’ll start with a scarf that wins three awards ;)
“Biggest Bargain” Award AND “Never on my radar but couldn’t pass it up at that price” Award AND I truly am thinking this- “the best scarf ‘on me’ of any in collex” award. I actually glow in it.

SOTD 2024:

Au son du tam-tam cashmere-silk shawl by Toutsy, from a consignment store. Unusual colours for me, but it is nice to have a change from time to time.

I don't know if I have ever seen this design on anyone else ?

Fantastic indeed !
I loooove this design so much !

Ah-oh! You gave us all another justification for scarf purchasing. “Pairings”. Last thing any of us need, more reasons to buy :winkiss:
Parade is a wonderful design.

Oh no whoops! More reasons to buy is always so dangerous…

I love EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE!!! That Douze Leopards 90 looks FAB on you. And I’m very jealous of that Tresors shawl!!! Wonderful acquisitions!

Wonderful scarves and pairings, Jereni. A quick glance at the 2024 scarf calendar shows two weeks coming up that will use your scarf pairing skills. January 21, 2024 - Double the Fun, and April 7, 2024 - Two of a Kind. So you have incentives to keep looking over your collection for these lovely pairings. Amazing looks on you.

Oh nice! Thank you for the compliment, and for the heads up. Those will be fun weeks for sure.

Helloooooo Scarflandia!!
I wish you all the very best in 2024 and - ahem - lots of silky adventures!

I am - again - woefully behind… I blame the long holiday weekend(s) and perhaps a tad, a scooch, a weeeeee bit of the Champagne!

So - golly… decisions to make, categories to invent. :giggle:

2023 was a year of several grails (:woot:), and a very soft slide down the CSGM slope… who knew it would be so fun?!?

Without further ado <drumroll>
Best Pink in a CSGM - Patchwork Horse

Best Alice in Wonderland Garden - Le Jardin de Lelia Au Bloc

Best Grail in CSGM - Parures de Samourais - wearing today!

And finally the Oscarf to the CSGM that I flat out adore and would cry if it were lost - Schererazade*

(Yes - I know that’s a strange choice, but each time I wear it I am astonished at how beautiful it is ❤️)

So nett von Ihnen ! Vielen Dank, liebste Croisette !
Echt wunderschön !
(und verzeihen Sie mir bitte für meine Fehler, ich habe seit Jahren nicht geübt...)

Do you have any idea when this shawl was released ? I read the design, as a 90cm, dates back to 1997, but I do not know about the shawl.

That CW is so perfect on you! And the shawls of that period were of exceptional quality, so well done!

Au Som was part of 1997 collection titled Year of Africa, and was issued in 90 as well as 140 cash. The 90 was reissued later in 2000 (in more monochrome cws), but cashmere 140 was only one edition I believe.

Thanks.
The quality should be fine, then.
I bought my first shawl in 2000, it is still in a top condition, and never pilled.
