31 Dec 2023 The Oscarfs Return! Awards for the best of the best buys of 2023

Wishing everyone in Scarflandia a Happy New Year’s Eve! As our silken year comes to an end, I’d like to say that it has been an absolute pleasure to spend time here week after week and an honor to be able to host this, my favorite week on SOTD.

We finally have a chance to tally up all our silk acquisitions of the year. I plan to share all the scarves that entered my collection in 2023: new season scarves, oldies found on the resale market and Grails fulfilled. This is the week our 2023 silks walk the red carpet and receive The Oscarfs!

This was a wonderful year for me as far as silks go. I was able to collect my favorites from each season and to add a variety of formats to my collection. I found some coveted Grails and accomplished a bit of CCP as well.

I begin by choosing my favorite scarves from each season and now present my Oscarf for Best Scarf of the Spring/Summer 2023 Collection to Costume de Fete. I fell in love with this design and got it in two CWs

My Oscarf to the Best Scarf of the Fall/Winter 2023 Collection goes to Parade en Fanfare.

I continue with a magnificent surprise I received as a Christmas gift… My only double-sided scarf of the year and a true masterpiece IMO: Brandebourgs Fleuri. This one is in a category of its own as I am in blown away by its beauty. Perhaps it should win the Oscarf for Favorite Double-Sided Scarf and Newest Grail.

And, finally, a Grail that I had almost lost hope of ever finding again. My Oscarf for Best Grail of the Year goes to Dans un Jardin Anglais. In March of 2019, I ran across this design in the fuchsia CW at my local Hermès boutique. I tried it on and left it behind for I had a huge wishlist that season. When I returned to the store a few days later, it was gone. I’ve regretted doing that ever since as, with time, it became an elusive dream. Well, this year I was able to make that dream a reality and here it is. Below, a picture I took in 2019 when I tried on at Hermès and that has haunted me until very recently when I was finally able to make it mine.

I look forward to a fabulous week as we recap our silken journey this year. Needless to say, our actual SOTDs are always welcome as well as our scarf mail. I invite everyone to participate in giving out our 2023 Oscarf awards as we celebrate another great year in this forum and welcome a new year together in this wonderful community.
Dear fifi! Congratulations of the magnificient Anglais!

All are lovely-- I think the OaSD triangle would be a fresh and lovely addition for you @Karenska! It is such a great design.

Thank you for showing us your beautifully curated collection of cashmeres @Karenska. Sending the same warm wishes for 2024 to you and thanking you also for all you do to make Scarflandia such a fun and welcoming place. I really appreciate your comments today and always, dear friend.

First, thank you lovely scarf and guest scarf mistresses for a wonderful year. The themes have been so much fun, educational, inspiring, and enabling. I appreciate the effort and time each of you put into planning the year's themes and into the wonderful hosting and posts. Thank you!
:ps:

I also want to thank each and every person on this thread. This is the most wonderful space on the internet and I'm so grateful to be a part of it. I learn so much from your posts, pictures, and kind & thoughtful comments - there's nothing better than sitting down to the warmth and generosity of fellow Scarifies. This thread has become a lovely part of my daily routine. :hugs:

Lastly, my first Oscarf goes to Les Ailes de Pegase. It is the first scarf I purchased and it's the CS I've worn the most. It's my grab-and-go, casual thrown on. Here's a pic from earlier in the week when I ran out to buy a new vacuum cleaner :broom::

Happy New Year! :yahoo: I'm wishing each of you a happy and healthy 2024 surrounded by the people and fur-babies you love. And many, many new scarves, of course!
Such a beautiful post, MabelJo :hugs:, my twin, and sending good wishes for a happy start to the new year.

The second award in my 2023 Oscarf Ceremony will be awarded for Best Format Enhancement of a Design. There are two categories: large to small and small to large. Envelope, please. And the Golden Cat statuette goes to 12 Leopards DF 90!
I adore this design and had succumbed to it when it was first issued in CSGM in the AW21 season. Even so, I longed for a 90 version. Last fall it finally appeared and I fell hard-- choosing not one but two for a total of 24 Leopards altogether (36 if we add the CSGM). I am way past @HermesEchidna's double jeopardies here...
12 Leopards Collage.JPG

In the small to large category, the Golden Pegasus Oscarf statuette goes to Clair de Lune-- among my most loved double face 90s. This was issued in CSGM for AW23 and I think the design in its new format is just as award-worthy as the original 90.
Clair de Lune Collage.JPG
And sharing my SOYE for a relaxed toast with our neighbors last night...

Hoping everyone has a lovely New Year's Day!

Oh dear, you made me laugh again. I know who should receive (at least) the Meta-Oscarf for Ingenious Funny Yet Insightful Oscarf Categories :) On a more serious note, your leap of leopards were amongst the prettiest 2023 wildcats in Scarflandia , and we know many Leopards Owners were enabled!

Most of my bought scarves of 2023
Fleurs des Indiennes made me very happy but my number one grail has been Hippopolis cw with yellow hem and I found it finally and it should be here this coming week so oscarf goes to it, no question about it.
I think this year I buy a lot less but go hunting for grail 2-4😁
Anyway , happy new year to everyone!
@ninakt , what lovely palette of colours! Fleursd'Indiennes has such a great 70s vibe, doesn't it? And you have that amazing CW of Costume de Fete, yam. Please tell, what is the beauty with the lush green leaves in the second picture (next to Fleurs d'Indiennes)?

Hello Scarflandia
My love for Maxi Twillies started with black Brazil and black Kachinas Maxi Twillies - thanks to @MaiTai 's amazing blog and enabling. This love turned out to be longlasting, so no wonder that a MT was also one of my 2023 acquisitions. It was a long haunted for Carre en Carres MT by Kermit Oliver:

This red En Attendant Ulysse is stunning @GloWW0rM! Such a deep, gorgeous red, and it looks fabulous on you!

Wonderful choices @violetkool, all styled perfectly. The H silky slope is a fun and often fast ride - it's awfully hard to stop once you start. :jrs:

Another beauty @Croisette7! :girlsigh:

You made fabulous choices @Sylt Lover, all beautiful and look lovely on you.
Thank you, MabelJo,
Thank you, dear Croisette, and Happy New Year! :hugs:
Happy New Year, dear Karenska!
Happy New Year, my dear, dear Scarf Friends. Blessings to you all and looking forward to sharing the New Year with you in our silks and cashmeres. :hugs:

So elegant! ... and that necklace!
How beautiful this shawl looks combined the details on your sleeves. A great combination. Thank you also for your kind words. And a happy, healthy, joyful 2024.
Thank you, dear ... and right back to you, a very happy 2024!
And triplets here!

SOTD is Tulipomanie - one of my Oscarves, this one inspired by @Croisette7 when she showed her yellow cw. Spring flowers for a new beginning. Happy new year! 🎉

It is so gorgeous, Agrume, you inspired me for the pastel one.
Happy New Year!

Happy New Year @Jereni! Looking lovely and festive at your feast!
Wow, I am speechless that you found these in consignment stores. Amazing finds I can only dream of. The Papillons 🥰
It was an amazingly good year for this type of thing which is why I made it an Oscarf category-- I suspect I am in for a biblical seven year dry spell after this @Maedi. Two in the last quarter of the year alone!
Oh yes that’s it. Thank you. It is a great intricate design with fun corners to my memory.
And my bad lighting is Parures de Samourais
Here is a better pic from archive

It is just so unbelievably gorgeous @Nomad! Happy New Year to you and thank you for all you contribute here-- not only your amazingly curated collex but so much insight and commentary. :flowers:
I acquired my long sought-after Les Myths this year, too, EtsyBoss! I am not sure if we are twins or sisters but here is mine:

Tomorrow I will pull mine out and compare it to your amazing mod shots with such beautiful ties. It is indeed an amazing design.
Happy New Year, dear Lkb, and thank you. :hugs: It was my first outing with this stole and I really enjoyed wearing it. Perfect for a festive evening! Your Ferry Tales is gorgeous.
Thank you so much, dear friend, for your input and warm wishes. I wish you the same in 2024. :hugs:
Thank you so much @Karenska! I can't wait to see but I do believe you and @EtsyBoss are twins on your new beautiful KO. What a find for each of you. I know you have longed for that one and am so happy it is in your collection now.

Happy New Year @Agrume-- the yellow Tulipomanie is magnificent. Oscarf-worthy for sure...
Happy new year scarflandia!
My scarf journey started at the beginning of the year with a visit to FSH and the rest is history… I will try to share my Oscarfs later this week.
A big thank you to this kind and encouraging (and enabling) community and the scarf mistresses who make it all possible!

For my first Oscarf I share a picture of my newest acquisition: a grail I have been hunting since my scarf debut because I grew up in a forest region.
Les legendes de l‘arbre in the 2016 reissue.
That is a beautiful design @Jacq1 -- can't wait to see the next stops along your collecting journey in 2024...

Oh, my. Congratulations! I can only dream of becoming your Hippopolis twin @ninakt-- it is my Holy Grail for 2024-- cannot wait to see pics and mod shots when it arrives! I am going to follow your strategy for 2024 also: hunt for some truly special pieces and shop less...
What a fun category, I love your winners!

Thank you both-- it is a lot more fun to attempt an inventory of the year with some Oscarf humor @Marta_K and @violetkool-- otherwise I risk just feeling overwhelmed by what I have done!

:ty: Lkb! I am thrilled to have acquired it. For me, maybe the best KO design but I might hear other opinions on that assertion! ;) It is certainly a brilliant design if not necessarily his best. I know that @EtsyBoss will agree.
